G&G Hawk Model C Deadlock Unboxing & Disassembly Video!
Переглядів 1,6 тис.3 роки тому
Mr Brown just brought this to me. Literally, my first time unpacking it, giving my first impressions based on my experiences with my Model A and Model B. I open it up and look at what's new inside. YES, I know I say "Grant" when I meant Gavin, and I point to the titanium inlay and call it "carbon fiber". My bad! All in good fun! The SPRING in the base of the switch side is a "rear torsion" spri...

G&G Hawk Deadlock Review Model B Torture Test & Double Stab Failure Test!
Переглядів 1,3 тис.4 роки тому
In this video, I take my Grant and Gavin Hawk Deadlock Model B from "batch 7" and put it to a test with a medium sized furniture box. Lots of cutting, and then a DOUBLE stab test toward the end. If you thought the Model A was the stuff, this one is that much better. See my previous video where I open this knife up so you can see the all new lock mechanism. Compare to Gavins' original take down ...
G&G Hawk Deadlock Review #1 Cut & STAB Test!!

This is my G&G Hawk Deadlock OTF EDC USER. A basic introduction video featuring a light cutting test, followed by a stab test. I do plan to do follow up videos as time goes on and I break this puppy in.
You shouldn't have that issue with an expensive knife and even so , you should send it back to get it fixed not disassemble it by yourself
They stated on their Website to not use oil in the knife. 17:40
They also come with a small amount of grease in the lock mechanism to quiet the rattle the parts would have.
@@Malehanger so what you mean is that you have to Disassemble the knife to grease that part for once in a while ؟
Just got my first Model C and eager to make it a lifer. With some maintenance, I’m sure it’ll serve me well in the long run (as it seems it has in your experience). Just a quick question: how much were the extra spring sets?
I don't recall.
@@benjaminclark4477 Np, I’ll reach out to Gavin then. Thank you anyway
How did u get the back up parts kit?
By asking.
It was born to cut not to stay in a case forever
Single edge model c???😮
The ordering process is not designed for people with certain disabilities so to people like me they are unobtainable even though I have the money.
Thanks for making these edits! I’ve been on the Hawks mailing list for many years, but unfortunately never had the funds available at the right time. I picked up a 2022 model c this week, and couldn’t be happier with it. I think I’m the third owner, the knife had a small scratch on the frame that the seller was completely transparent about. This worked fine for me because this will be an edc. Your videos have answered many questions about breaking this thing down if needed and given me the confidence to put it back together. I really appreciate it!
Could you let me know pls. - what kind of screwdriver (brand / model) this is ? Thank you.
It comes with the knife.
I give you credit for taking a $1000 plus OTF and cutting a bunch of cardboard with it , especially when it's very hard to resharpen that blade. No matter what these idiots say, you are torture testing it in a minor way. Great video.
He really showed that cardboard who’s the boss lol not much of a torture test
Nice vid! Thanks for sharing this! Just got my first.... Super excited.
yeah knife for life until the Model D comes out and you MUST CONSUME PRODUCT!
Hey Ben! I just got my first deadlock model c Ti and I noticed it’s extremely hard to close the knife. Pulling the back feels stiff/tough to achieve and I’m wondering if cleaning and lubricating it would help with that?
Id email them.
Great video on the inner workings, disassembly and reassembling of this awesome knife. Thank you
How did you get that single-edge blade?
Traded in my model B.
Anybody else mute this upload 😂
Thank you for making amazing videos of this amazing knaf
Thanks for the tour of the insides. They're not legal here, so that was as close as I can get to one. 😅
Long time no see my man! I recently obtained the all Ti Model C with tumbled blade and accents. It is my end all be all OTF!
I own a Model C Deadlock and I use it everyday. I love it. I really appreciate your videos and tips. I have watched them all. Thank you.
Awesome and thanks
WRONG DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS ADVISE do not apply oil or lubricant to your dead lock as per hawk knives
Listen to my video? I run my Deadlock dry.
that is very true recommended by Gavin himself told me and written in their website to NOT oil or lubriate ur deadlock
I almost pulled the trigger on gunbroker for this knife. This video convinced me to just buy the Infidel.
That knife is not as sharp as my microtech Knife, my knife costs 400,eu and a Hawk Deadlock costs about 2000usd🤣
If you say so. I have owned Microtech knives and from what I recall both brands are on par with each other in regard to sharpness. Of course the owner of Microtech doesn't touch his own products anymore. My Deadlock cost nowhere near "$2000". Do your research?
You're not actually serious... you're basing what makes a knife off of guessing the sharpness of it on camera? I'm a professional sharpener and can turn a butter knife into a sharper blade than you would ever hold. By the way, these OTFs, especially the D/E, are not slicey blades compared to a Spyderco with a flat grind. Geometry of the blade matters more than you know, hence kitchen knives. I'm a Microtech fanboy, but you have to realize the G@G Deadlock is superior.
You let your friends play with your dreadlocks! 🤪 But seriously these are truly great well built knives with unbelievable tolerances! Supposedly that can withstand 200,000 cycles. I play with mine so much however I probably will wear mine out soon. Haha! The model B is a super sexy machine. But the model C is a better feeling knife if that makes any sense. I do not own a model B and wish I did though. For now I am quite satisfied with the C.
the single edge does exist hahaha. Even their site says double edged ONLY
They absolutely did not put the blade from your model b into your model c. The cut outs for the locking mechanism in the blade itself are completely different between the two models. It was very kind of Gavin to send you a single edge blade when they weren’t in production, but it definitely isn’t the same one from your model B.
Lol no. It's definitely the blade from my model B.
lol no… Compare the video to the g&g disassembly video. It’s obvious if you have eyes
You're showing your ignorance my man. You are referring to a Model A. The Model B and C share blade lock mechanism designs and specs. As I say in this video... I've owned all 3. Still doubt? Reach out to G&G HAWK support vs continuing to make yourself look silly here. @musicisevil @@musicisevil
Cool! Thx. Will do! *jerk off eyeroll*
Yep, I have a unicorn. I had a Model B. When I saw the Model C was coming soon, I emailed Gavin and asked if it was possible to put my Model B blande into a C frame. He said they could. There you go!
So I read your comment but I’m still confused. Do you realize you’re doing a disassembly video on a knife that doesn’t represent what one would normally see when taking a model c apart? My titanium model c striker plate looks way different than yours. Is that because of the model b blade? Who knows
How did you get a single edge in the Model C? I thought they only made DE versions
Beautiful knife!!
Problem is you cant get one (in Europe).
Bad ratio blade to handle. Definitely not for me.
To Mr. GAVIN HAWK and BRANDON COBURN: I am Col. Thomas Bovet, your small single client servicing in distant Cambodia. Febr. 11. 2022 I received a post from Brandon that my model C would be send - after some tweaking to guarantee reliable deadlock by DHL - "in a few weeks". Recently I sent 2 emails requesting an update, which to date remain unanswered. I can only guess how busy you are with larger buyers, but I don't appreciate being ignored. I am relying on your good business practices and equally find it cumbersome to write such mail. Finally, could you please consider providing a phone number to at least your paid up customers for a personal contact. Thank you!
Maybe good to invest some time too in how to set a fixed focus on your camera.
Not that big a deal, guy. Upload your own shit if it matters so much to you.
OTF’s are much tougher than people give them credit for. Many torture tests online. Check ‘em out
Love watching you struggle in your videos. That wasn’t meant to be mean.🤪 So many make it look easy. It makes you human… At least ya don’t have to head to Home Depot 3 times… YET! I breakdown n clean my pistols after every use. Took me 4 hrs to put a trigger upgrade in my ruger markIV lite. The UA-cam video was 15 minutes. EASY!! Nope! Excited to get my Model C next week! Glad I saved your videos n have a lot of time on my hands… Your fun!!!
Lol all good man thanks.
Nice vid, just followed along and got mine to fire much smoother!
yikes!!! 8:31 in. a cracking visceral sound felt way up here in the ADK.
No shit 😱
Just the tool slipping. Nothing cracked
i wanted your model b...
I have a pristine unused, uncarried batch 9 Model B I’m selling. Marbled CF and heat treated Ti hardware. Let me know if interested!
For over 1000$ the lest they can do is include a few spare parts and a tool! And sweet water is the number 1 hipster beer!
DO THE NAIL TEST
DO THE NAIL TEST
Very informative! I just received Model C today. I am blown away. I’ve had quite a few OTFs. Mostly MT and one Guardian Tactical. The later the best action, but not build quality. The Hawk Deadlock has great action! And no blade play. Overpriced but it’s one that I had to have. I am not too crazy about the standard carbon fiber inlays. They are kinda meh. I was thinking about selling it and getting a Model B, but may wait for a special release Model C with different inlay options.
DO THE NAIL TEST
Nah, no thanks.

You should ask Gavin about the grease… not make a video about your assumptions. It’s obvious you have no idea what your doing.
Hey thanks for the feedback. Crack open your Deadlock, over grease the lock parts and report back ok? I've spoken to Gavin quite a bit over the years. My Model A would wobble out of lock up during cutting. My feedback helped him realize this issue existed in the Model A. Unlike most customers who buy to collect, I use my Deadlock. He redesigned, came out with the Model B. Fixed the lockup issue. I have the email chain by the way if you want to fact check me Mr. Thanks

The mystery spring goes with the lock pin , to stop blade play in retracted position.
Actually, Brandon in email support at G&G HAWK says it's the "rear torsion spring". It puts pressure on the de-lock when the blade is closed to keep the blade closed. I got a few extras even though it's a low wear part for good measure.
