I am a koto player and teacher from Lynnwood Washington. The koto is a traditional Japanese harp instrument dating back to the 7th and 8th century. I play different styles of pieces which you will get to see on my channel. I give lessons on how to play some beginners pieces on the koto. Akemi Sensei’s Koto Practice In Kyoto Maizuru

This is my koto performance at the HearthStone retirement facility. The songs I played are Princess Mononoke, Taka (Falcon) and Ginyuka. This song is called Natsu no hi (Summer Days) composed by Tadao Sawai. It is one of the four songs he did for the four seasons Summer, Winter, Fall/Autumn, and Spring. It has Two koto parts that mimic each other. The ending gets faster until the end. Please enjoy and like the video.

This song is called Toiikin composed by Tadao Sawai. It has two koto parts one thirteen string koto part and one bass koto part. It has a nice melody starting off slower and gradually increasing speed. In the middle of the piece there is a section of all plucking without picks. Please enjoy Toiikin.
