If it wouldn't sound so political... I would say - bring back the old times. Make Artistic Gymnastics great again! This was really beautiful. Thank you!
In my modest opinion, First Perfect Score, way before Nadia Comaneci 🤗👍💪. Judges weren’t ready for that. She took the World by surprise. Definitely Revolutionizing the Sport.
5:04 that's olga mostepanova perfoming an onodi but long before onodi first competed it. Sadly, the reason it was not named after her was because her coaches thought it was not a new move. Bad mistake by the soviets, in my opinion
Yes!!! It was beautiful! Khorkina always (beginning from 1994) competed for Russia. Though, Russia, as well as, the ather 14 republics inherited the soviet style.
If anybody still read these comments and is interested in knowing about Doris. She lives in Daytona Beach now. She's lost alot of her Fortune through the housing crash in Florida. Her family did her wrong and now she doesn't want anything to do with them. So she spends her days at Daytona hiding away from everybody she knows cause all they want to do is use her for something she has.. I talk with her everyday she's such a nice woman I love her and I feel bad that I'm pretty much the only person that talks with her. This Woman here is Truly one of the greatest people I've ever met and I wish I could do more to help her out in her situation :/. She absolutely loves when I showed her this video and some other one on YT she had no clue these were recorded. If anyone reads this feel free to reply really.
Doris if you ever read this, I want you to know when I saw this, I was both amazed and angered. Amazed how you were way ahead of your time with this excellent bar routine. Angered at how you were cheated. The amazement and anger have led me to mention your name so frequently to people who fancy gymnastics, that people are finding out who you are and gettin the word out. They watch this video and come back one of two ways.....a big WOW or just speechless because that's how amazing it was and still is. It's always the hidden gems that make the most impact! Thank you Mrs. Doris❤❤
I love the music in this video. Total Eclipse of the Heart is the perfect song for the choreography. It is such a shame that she wasn't named to the Barcelona team. She was super graceful and had immensely difficult, but innovative skills. She was inconsistent, but I'd rather watch her than Gutsu. She, along with Dudnik were born in the wrong era because even though she was inconsistent, her difficulty alone would still put her in top spots if it was today's code.
My sister trained under her for years in Litchfield Connecticut (and now is one of the coaches at Northwest Gymnastics, which Doris sold back in 03 or so), and being only 2.5 years older than my sister, I ended up going to a lot of her meets (more or less every single one that wasn't within a couple hours drive, for years). I've seen Doris train people, met her a couple of times, but never actually saw one of her routines before... All I can say is wow, just wow.
The great Doris Fuchs Brause - a legend in her sport. She was ROBBED and I have read that even the great Larisa Latynina defended her. Doris should have been in the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame long ago.
THIS is what a gymnast should look like! I hate todays gymnast! They all look like men on steroids...so much muscle tone that they can never stick their landings! All the dance and grace has gone, no elegance! I NEVER thought I would end up hating my favourite sport...but todays gymnasts just don't have it like they used to!
Please don’t say that it’s body shaming I miss the grace and elegant gymnastics back then but I pressure girls in to eating disorders look at domonine Dawes she was very muscular and strong but still very graceful
Yes, there's nothing funnier than watching these dedicated young athletes seriously injury themselves. It's even funnier when they sustain some sort of severe damage to the head/spine/neck. Yep, it is sooo hilarious. Honestly if you find this funny, get therapy. Otherwise, my sympathies to these athletes.
I think I prefer Groshkova's beam just slightly over Dudnik, despite her wild inconsistency. Her leaps and extension were superior and her routine just as difficult. Did anyone else notice that guy in the audience who was flipping through a magazine right when she set up and executed her original skill? Then he heard everyone else gasping and clapping, looked up and put the magazine down briefly to clap too, but he totally missed it! Lol, his loss.
I met Doris at Nationals in 1964 and later at a gymnastics camp headed by Muriel Grossfield. She was not only immensely talented, but a warm humble being who sadly was robbed of the World uneven bars gold. It is a travesty that Doris was kept out of bars finals. It is unbelievable that the judges said her routine had too many difficult moves and penalized her. Imagine what they must think today regarding how challenging the sport has become. She is a real legend and raised the bar!
ohh okay well it is on UA-cam and okay I see why it looks kind of dangerous I thought it was the last skill because it looked like a Chinese sit up a little.
ohh okay well the last skill performed in the hole video looks kind of like a Chinese sit up, a Chinese sit up is straddling on the low bar and swinging to the high bar
WOW!
If it wouldn't sound so political... I would say - bring back the old times. Make Artistic Gymnastics great again! This was really beautiful. Thank you!
La ginnaste russe … perfezione ed eleganza assolute …inarrivabili… questi esercizi non si vedono più !!!
Graceful, strong…Incredible! So original.
In my modest opinion, First Perfect Score, way before Nadia Comaneci 🤗👍💪. Judges weren’t ready for that. She took the World by surprise. Definitely Revolutionizing the Sport.
Dance and artistry are just an afterthought today. The Soviets were unmatched in that department. I miss the gymnastics if this time 😢
I love how these gymnasts perform such difficult skills so effortlessly and with that smirk on their face saying, can we get to the hard stuff.

She Plays The Female Gymnastic Role Of Elmer Fudd!
Perhaps the best montage of the gymternet
And now the era of Simon Biles
Yes!!! It was beautiful! Khorkina always (beginning from 1994) competed for Russia. Though, Russia, as well as, the ather 14 republics inherited the soviet style.
Truly an underrated gymnast

Just amazing! Dance and difficulty
She was phenomenal. That was an absolutely brilliant routine, years ahead of its time.

People still mention Doris on other gymnastics videos alllll the time. Nobody has forgotten her 💕🤸♀️
Khorkina didn't represent the Soviet Union as a senior.
This was just as difficult as Nadia's 1980 bar routine. She was so ahead of her time!
wow. wowowwow
Doris was first trained at Watson's gymnastics school in downtown Minneapolis. Her coach there was my first coach many years later.

I just had breakfast with Doris last week. I’ll make sure she sees this 😊

The undisputed Queens of Womens Artistic Gymnastics.
las verdaderas gimnastas las sovieticas y las rumanas❤❤

I trained under her from ages 2-12 and she was still an amazing gymnasts and a great person who im still in touch with
Gymnastics used to be such a beautiful sport, i only wish gymnasts looked like this now days.
I miss the grace of Yurchenko and the rhythm and skill of Mostepanova and Davidova.
I honestly think she may have done the most beautiful leaps of any gymnast, ever.
The great Doris Fuchs Brause - a legend in her sport. She was ROBBED and I have read that even the great Larisa Latynina defended her. Doris should have been in the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame long ago.
She truly revolutionized gymnastics! That one routine stands as one of the most influential in sports history and always will.

They were so stunned! Had never seen nor anticipated anything as revolutionary as her bar routine and, instead of rewarding it, penalized it!
Love it! What is the music?

sorry no their not they are doing Chinese sit ups look a little alike
She was hugging a squirrel. That was her mascot.
