Thank you. I sensed Trump would win again when every station lead with a story about him every day. It’s like they can’t quit him. I can and have also sworn off cable news.

Can I ask for or can you recommend some videos on language and framing? I find the bias I notice once I have been educated on this really helps me to sift reliable news sources. I still watch the news but when I hear certain words/phrases, it alerts me to pay closer attention and recognise more is going on, check other sources I trust as well.

I am with you, Meredith, I am also not watching it. I am done with mainstream tv, as well as cable tv. All they care is about rating. Little do they know that the reason for their low ratings is attributed to people being tired of trump’s antics. I know lots of people who change the channel or turn TV off when they see nonsense about trump. There are ways, I believe, of telling the news without all of trump’s shenanigans. I don’t know why they feel the need to show clips of him over and over and over again.

I stopped watching cable news just prior to the orange menace’s inauguration & never returned. I got all of my latest election updates from alternative online sources. Never turned on the TV or clicked on their online articles. Meredith- Besides not tuning in what can we do to clean up our media before we turn into the UK or worse? I’m furious and want to do my part.

There are options. Watched a very good and smart researcher friend go down a conspiracy rabbit hole and became addicted to rage after 9-11. At retirement I cut the cable cord and now only stream, look for balance in terms of time and sources. No more than 1 hour daily. Take care everybody 🖤

Agree with everything you’ve said here, Meredith. I feel like cable news is mocking us, not serving us. (That goes for print journalism too) I hope what I’m seeing is a backlash from the public, unsubscribing from newspapers, turning off cable news, exodus from X. We feel used and abused. There were never this many media personalities when I was younger, but it felt like the ones we had were at least serious about delivering knowledge or insight to viewers/ readers.

I was very concerned several months ago when I saw on UA-cam raw footage of Trump at this rallies acting incoherently and then looking on the websites for CBS, NBC, ABS, and even CNN and saw that they weren't mentioning his bizarre behavior. CNN stepped up when it was too late.

For poltical news on UA-cam I turn to, the GrayZone, Sabby Sabs, Bad Faith, and Tim Black TV.

I think the MSM are happy that Trump win the Presidency because of how much money they’re going to make. He’s going suck up all oxygen every day 24/7/365. People didn’t choose on Policies. He didn’t discuss policies. All people heard was the MSM repeating and discussing the sound bites, the sensationalism, the propaganda, the misinformation. He’s basically being in our consciousness for over 9 years.

When you analyze the last round, the 🥭, kept the press us all anxious and angry. Click bait hate is a money maker. Don't fall it. Words, digital & analog literacy, people matter! 🧶

I am so with you, Meredith. We ‘stepped back’ from a lot of news sources several months ago, because it just became ridiculous and overwhelming. That doesn’t mean we don’t read news or keep up with important stories, we just don’t allow ourselves to be forced fed anymore. In the name of transparency, I tell you I worked in the media for most of my career, and I’ve seen it from outside in and inside out. I live in Canada, and worked here too. There is so much to be appalled by these days, but you can curate your own news sources! What a world. It’s up to us to take on the responsibility for our own consumption. Should have to be like that? I don’t think so, but it is what it is. Thank you for always giving us such incisive insights and information. You are an oasis in the desert of modern media!!
