Keep your pets inside
I am sick and tired of this cat coming into my garden every night. It invariably kills something. Urban wildlife has a challenging time of things as it is, even before your cute little furry predators decimate it.

Meteor spotter with hedgehog

I spent the closing hours of my birthday sitting in the back garden watching for satellites and Perseid meteors. I had company, who was not the slightest bit bothered by my presence...

New Sounds

I've had my GR-55 guitar synth for several years, but the Warr Guitar (a Trey Gunn Signature Series 8-string model in Crafty Tuning) is new, unexplored territory for me. After spending the last week getting to know the instrument, I'm really excited by its potential to take me in new and unexpected directions. There's lots more of my music at headfirstonly.bandcamp.com/
Territorial Dispute - part 2

Clearly the larger of the two hedgehogs changed its mind about whether or not it had made its point sufficiently forecfully, and went back to remove any remaining doubt...

I didn't know hedgehogs could weaponise their own defensive reaction of curling up into a ball, but apparently they can.

Digging in to the Chase Bliss MOOD Mk2 still further with a completely improvised, gently meditative piece. You've got to love the crunchiness of the MOOD when it's set to low clock rates... There's a lot more of my music at headfirstonly.bandcamp.com/

Getting to grips with the latest addition to the studio: the "Light Bright" limited edition run of the Chase Bliss MOOD Mk 2. For ambient type recording, it's a beast of a pedal-particularly when it's paired up with the Ocean Machine and the H90. LOTS more of my music at headfirstonly.bandcamp.com/

It's nearly time for February Album Writing Month, and I'll be taking part as usual. Here's a track that I recorded last year as part of the challenge of writing an album's worth of songs-fourteen of them-in the 28 days of February. From my album "What I Did In February": headfirstonly.bandcamp.com/album/what-i-did-in-february
Tribble plays fetch

Analog camcorder footage from 2001 (hence the low resolution). Playing fetch with my cat, Tribble. She was a sweet little thing and I miss her a lot.

HFO TV: Twitch Livestream #52

Wow: show #52. A whole year's worth of live streams. I've learned a lot through archiving the shows that I do on Twitch here on UA-cam. The top three most important things I've learned are: 1) that UA-cam's content checking algorithms are so broken they're laughable and 2) that as a result of my own experiences with them, and hearing about the experiences of friends with YT accounts (horror sto...

Having a bedroom as a recording studio doesn't mean your music can't sound polished and professional. Even if it's just you and a mic, you can get great-sounding results, so tune in each week as Chris shares ways to kick-start your recordings. This week, it's all been about technical issues and HFO has not been happy. There is ranting. But there is also a new track, and it uses Vocoder, so ever...

I'm working my way through these incredibly helpful videos from Markus Reuter and Shawn Crowder: ua-cam.com/video/tx_U7E30aoM/v-deo.html I've already changed strap length, playing posture, and hand position as a result.
Is it possible using a processor like boss me 25 before mooer ocean machine in the signal chain? Will it create any noise issues?
As you can see in the video, the Zoom G3 is in front of the Ocean Machine in my signal chain, so you can definitely do so. In my experience the Ocean Machine does not add noise to the signal.
Thanks! Nice tone dude.. I’m about to buy this Mooer, then I remember I got Zoom G3 which can do 6 effects simultaneously.. so- have you tried replicating the ocean, 2 reverb, 2 delay like 4 simultaneous fx? Thanks 🙏
I've upgraded the G3 you can see above to the G6, which can do a lot more than the G3, but the modulation effects on the reverb in the Mooer (and also to a lesser extent on the delays) are so much better.
What is FAWM?)
Watch the show! It's a songwriting challenge that takes place every February. Beginners and seasoned performers alike commit to writing 14 songs - an album's worth - in 28 days.
Is it FAWM yet? Profiles are updated :)
Thanks! I missed the first bit of this live.
Thanks for that lovely comment Chris :-)
I look at your mixer, and I look at mine, and I think..."only 80% more to add on!" But I like the studio look!
Oh wow! So much amazing stuff. So little time to watch. D: I tell you, man... if these were like 20 minutes, I'd watch each and every one. But I know how long it takes to edit video, so maybe it's not in the stars. Gonna have to come back to these at a later date. That ribbon mike looks boss!
Beautiful synth stand!
Good to see some Apocalyptica!
Very nice atmosphere 🙂
...AND it sounds good as well as a good demonstration!
Nice idea🤘🏼
nice - i just got one of these today :)
Sounds awesome 👏
First note heard and I instantly subbed. Awesome
Cool demo.
Ok thanks solved more power amps grasias 👍
Cambiar a español Hello my friend a question, I bought the pedal mooer ocean machie and I have problem with the power supply I got two of 9v 300 enciente but it does not have the sounds then I put another of 9v 500ma and it does not work, I do not know if I have to buy it The mooer brand, which you have
Hi Luis - I'm just using a generic 9 Volt, 500 mA power supply. Make sure that the central pin of the supply jack is the negative connection (center negative) or it won't work.
I had the same problem! Then I plugged it into a "Power Professor" multi-power PSU, and it worked perfectly!
Is the g3 as good in Delays subdivisions and tap tempo like the ocean?. Good vid
Thanks! The G3 is pretty good but the Ocean has a much wider range of delay effects. I like the way you can set the G3's looping function to a set number of bars at the current tempo.
Where did you get it? I've been searching for it, at least for it to be shipped to me; Amazon nor Guitar Center or any other that might be recognizable, store related.
I Pre-ordered mine from Prymaxe.com. They are great people and right now they have a 20% off code that I'm pretty sure would work for this pedal
Sweeeeeeeeet, thx bro
And if you try to use the code and it doesn't work, just chat with someone and ask about it. they should help you out
Hi Roy - I'm in the UK and got mine from the guys at Intersound Guitars in Dursley. Cracking guitar shop, really good people. www.intersoundguitars.co.uk/
Great sound!!! Can you please show how the spillover function works? I've seen in a video that if you turn off a delay the tails remain. But what happens when you change between 2 presets with different delay type and time? Do the tails stop or they merge in some way with the new settings? And what about the reverb tails? Thanks!!!
Gianfranco - the tails merge with the new sound. It doesn't always get it totally right. When you switch from a patch that has a very long tail it can get very loud for a moment when the new patch takes over, but I've only found one patch where this happens.
Thanks!!!
Hey Chris how are you having the other parts playing while you are playing a combo with it? did you sequence the other parts and how do I set up my M50 to do this? Terry
Hi Terry - I didn't sequence anything, just selected KARMA. It's not supplied out of the box for the M50 but the good news is you can buy and install it on your PC or MAC and get it to play along. I'd recommend it - it's hugely powerful. Details are here: www.karma-lab.com/karmasoft/m50/m50_main.html
Noticed your video a while back ..was good to know that the Q3HD would take a line in from the M3..I sent it from my Roland VS 840 ..& used 720 @30fps for a reasonable upload time on my semi fast connection...Peace
@TSBA92 It was an overnight flight from Montreal in Canada.
@gblanco737 When you use the line input jack, the built-in microphones are disabled, so no, you can't record both at the same time.
Nice Vid! Where were you flying from?
@Ahuntsicspotter As far as I remember it was just under 7 hours. We had a good tailwind!
How long was the flight?
