Noone knows the average amount of gold per chest yet, but I opened 4 and got 255, or about 64 per chest. Based on some estimations I did, I do not believe you will be able to break even playing ranked after your MMR settles. This means you will either have to grind unranked for a 10 win run(which is a rare run) or fork over some cash. Another game that may be killed by greed, as I do not unders...

just barely clinging onto the earth spirit- cliff by the tips of your fingers lol. astounding how far you held on at single-digit destiny without dying.
Ikr, cliff was the MVP that game. On the first round I was on 3 destiny, I get a massive cliff against a smash def card that completely saved me.
You activated water pre-game so great wave would be better compared to the water seal. Using the fusion card you are activating new elements so you got to chase without using the seal
I was innate fire, I think you're seeing the water card I drew at 9 cultivation. Innate fire seems like the worst one for this type of build, but if I was innate water I could've used great waves. I honestly underestimated the qi generation from the overcoming interactions, and even in the build I did great waves was probably way better than dive.
Actually now that I think about it, a great waves on the first play even if water is not activated will still chase, and then on the second play it will gain value because water will be activated after playing dive, so that could be good even if you are not innate water.
@@TrellsYT Yeah, I mistaken the water card you drawn as activation. But I felt like fire card to iron bone could be a workable build? I really think this new fusion card should allow you to activate the next card you played, otherwise it's too limited and luck-dependent, especially considering the amount of ultimate world formation you need to draw (Nangongsheng only needs one to get super strong!)
@@TrellsYT True, I see many players play combined world as the first card even without activating earth
Absolute nuts
glad to see more yi xian!
Do you know that swapping cards would actually delete two of the same card in the card pool? Given the fact that each round one card from your subclass is drawn, I would usually delete all plantation cards except the bamboo so the odds of getting the mutation card gets significantly higher
btw these yemingmings aren't so good at playing. I'm ranked top 30 for yemingmings and there are a ton of ways to counter this dust build.
I learned that after the post of this video! And do you mean you would stop gaining physique to counter the dust?
@@TrellsYT Not really, since even for normal characters dust gains significant amount of defense. What I usually do is stack up a high amount inner injury and use two of the card which you absorb your opponent's health (I didn't play the game in English so I don't know the name of it). So the first four card are the chasing cards (max leveled chasing card in Duan Xuan gives you perfect chase for three cards, meaning you have more room to play other useful ones) and continuous cards (that gives you inner injury), the 5th and 6th card, depending on how your bamboo build is going (more aggressive or defensive, for example using the plant master card in 2nd phase so half of your decrease health can be compensated with your defense, I would play two of the absorb cards (if the build is aggressive) or two of the cars that apply all negative effect from me (if the build is more defensive). With these health absorbing cards I can usually survive to the second loop and play the 5th and 6th cards again (with two continuous cards you loop faster), which basically kills the opponent with more than 15 inner injuries so that when he revives he got instant killed again.😎
Still it quite depends on the quality of the deck for both players, I would say it's a 50/50 game, probably Nangongshensheng has slight advantages because max leveled chasing cards aren't so easy to find for Yemingming, but that could be compensated with higher level health absorbing cards etc.
@@TrellsYT While it's true that for Yemingmings we usually only gain our physique to 66, unlike other characters in Duan Xuan.
I hate scummy monetization and stuff, but i see nothing wrong with this. You play norms, which are extremely easy to win, and get ranked ticket for a gold victory. Then you go play ranked, are given the premium currency for FREE by getting wins, and then if you really want to jump back into ranked, it pays for itself unless you're constantly losing all your ranked matches, in which case the experience isnt different from norms anyways, because you aren't getting the rewards or rank up, which are the only differing factors. What is being lost here? The ability to jump into ranked for your very first game? Literally everything is free with the caveat that you have to play the game to earn those "free" rewards. This is the healthiest monetized progression I've seen years and I'll be damned if we're gonna liken it to predatory practices
Seems nice , ill sub
That's a completely awful mechanic. Absolutely nothing redeeming about it for anyone. Even ignoring the sheer greed that fueled this decision, like it's just fundamentally out-of-touch game design. How does a developer or executive even begin to imagine that this might work as a system of monetisation? Even the few whales that might have played ranked consistently likely won't because there won't be enough competition for them to bother since every one else is stuck grinding freeplay. Freemium game 101 is above all else leveraging your larger FtP playerbase such that your whales and dolphins actually want to spend money, gachas and competitive mobile games have understood this for years. Eyes bigger than their head doesn't even begin to describe. E: May not be the case. Read replies.
I play ranked every day and don't have to spend a penny. This video exaggerates the mechanic and underplays the accessibility.
@GestaltKirin I have read your other comment. So does every game pay for the next one alone, less, or more? Do you have to take a break every time you lose or only if you are on a streak? Would it be feasible that you can continue to play ranked with a 50% win ratio, i.e., when the ranking system is working and matching you against players of your level? Thank you for communicating this video may be misleading.
@mrbtiger4838 Also, thanks for seeing my other comment before replying :). I know it's not exactly a big comment section, but my expectations for online interactions aren't very high these days
The math on how many chests you get per ranked match (assuming 50 %wr after mmr settles) is kind of complicated because you take ramping damage per loss, I might attempt it eventually, and if I do I'll post to this comment again. From my experience, and I'm not half bad at the game (I've been top 5%-1% in many similar games) I am absolutely losing gems on average per ranked queue. Something I didn't know about because it's not really stated anywhere and this video was made on day 1, is that you seem to get a free ranked game per day, so there's that to factor in as well. Edit: Another thing I forgot to mention, I appear to be getting half as many chests as it shows I should, and I do not know if this is a bug or if they changed how ranked works and forgot to change the graphic. The graphic says you should get 2 for 4 wins, and 4 for 7 wins, but I am only getting 1 for 4 wins and 2 for 7 wins. Meaning I would need to hit at least 7 wins to break even, and even then some chests have less than 50 gems (current average gems per chest is unknown).
Ah guess my reply was deleted. Oh well
This will kill the game if they don't change it. A better method would be to lock certain characters behind a paywall. Sell cosmetic clothing for the character. Even still, when you are just in beta. You will try to develop a good impression of your game first. Before introducing any pay for mechanics.
Classic XD
Lmao, bonk
Extend looks like such an innocent card!
Ikr, it is so strong with Polar Citta Dharma and when you need Astral Flys for chase.
endboard with NO gold cards, wow. absolutely tragic
Haha just noticed that, pretty brutal. Astral move extend goes hard to allow me to last that long.
I just started playing this game. Watching your video made me notice what the relic is actually for. I thought it was just a passive buff or something. They need to add some type of indicator on what the relic is actually for. Didn't know I could actually click it.
Yeah, a lot of the mechanics are poorly explained. It is definitely the type of game that is hard to get into, but if you have any questions let me know.
Yeah world smash wasn't liked cause of guard up for the most part. Also hard to get the build rolling cause there was less consistency tools even with the world smash fates from last season. Easier to painter get a maxed t1 board and get any attack up to t5. It's better this season cause of mirror.
Yeah everything seems to be stronger because of mirror this season, I wonder if they will tone down power levels next season or continue to ramp them.
Weird how many filler combats this game throws at you - those really take me out of the game. BTW, of games you may be interested, Cobalt Core is at the top of my wishlist, Yomi 2 looks cool and my favourite game in the genre has to be Dicey Dungeons.
Yeah, the filler fights are a usually a good litmus test for if these types of games are going to waste your time or not, and I definitely got the impression this one would waste your time. The game looks like it has some really cool ideas though. One of the reasons Slay the Spire is so good is there is impactful decisions straight from the floor 1 round 1 combat, and it never feels like the deck is playing itself. I loved Dicey Dungeons as well, and own Cobalt Core but haven't got around to it yet. Haven't heard of Yomi 2 but it looks really unique, I'll have to do a little more research into it.
@@TrellsYT Hmm, I had the complete opposite experience with Slay the Spire: I stopped playing specifically because I didn't feel like a single decision is impactful until floor 1 boss - and not too many afterwards either. That said, not really my type of game - too many numbers and multipliers for my taste. I'm not even sure what genre Yomi 2 exactly is since I've never tried it but that's exactly why I want to try it :'D
@@buttonasas Its on my wishlist, if it goes on a good sale ill make a video about it. The only other game I know of that tried to blend fighting game and cards is BattleCON: Online which is free but idk if that community is still active.
Yes, more long vids please
Thanks man, more to come!

Thanks man, been watching your videos for a while!
holy shit. three whole hours?? damn, it's a yi xian feature film.
Haha, hopefully its better than Joker 2.
Winning against a dx secret with mono fire is a huge flex
Thanks, I think people are harsh on mono fire, it is actually pretty strong when it gets going. It just has absolutely no defense, healing, weakened or anything like that.
With mirror it makes the build a lot more consistent. The main thing you have to watch out for is early cide and penguin.
yes and with mirror you also get access to the meteor combined card which does work
7:39 It was the Mystery Seed that grew into a hard bamboo! 21:40 You're not chasing between the bamboos, right? Couldn't you just move the Harmony of Water and Fire to the right once or am I missing something? I did think that it would get consumed since it's a seal that activates something but apparently not? Pretty awesome that you now have some tech and can be more flexible choosing different builds based on opponent archetypes. EDIT: yeah, I'm forgetting the bamboos are continuous, derp.
Oh ok, I didn't know Mystery Seed could do that, new to plant master. And yeah its cool to be flexible, I actually matched with the second highest rated Nangong Sheng (he was playing a different character to be in my mmr range) and I added him and he said the same thing, he plays plant master vs tankier lobbies.
I've completely forgotten about this build. Meteor makes it so much better now. The main reason the build kinda fell off is cause of penguin. Downgrading any of the hard bamboos kill the build.
Interesting, haven't had that happen to me yet, but yeah that would ruin the entire thing.
Qinrui isn't the only full chase water board now
ingame: luc tuyet ky. Add me for dual xD
Hmm user does not exist
25:14 I'm not sure I understand - so when you exchange a card, it doesn't get shuffled in but instead goes at the bottom of the pool? Or what did you mean?
So basically, there is a certain number of each card in the pool, I forget exactly how much I think it's around 10-15 and it might vary based on what phase the card is. Once that card is drawn, it is gone forever. So it doesn't get shuffled in or go to the bottom of the pool, its actually just gone, just like drawing through a gigantic deck of cards where you throw away the cards you absorb. Its hypothetically possible to run out of cards to draw, but it never happens because games end too quickly. Theres been special game modes in the past where it could happen and you exchanged into some weird special card that did nothing iirc. Edit: When I said throw away the cards you absorb, it also throws away the cards you roll just to be clear, its just that once you draw it you cant draw it again. Edit 2: Sorry for the multiple edits lol, I just was doing some research for my own curiosity and found how it works exactly, here is a link to it, theres only 8 copies of each card actually and 6 of incarnation phase cards steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3060876689#:~:text=Each%20player%20has%20their%20own%20pool.%20There%20are,Talent%20Elixir%2C%20Great%20Bodybuilding%20Elixir%2C%20and%20Enlightenment%20Elixir.%29
@@TrellsYT whoahhhhh... I kept expecting an exchanged card to roll back more often but it's the complete opposite - it even deletes 2 other copies as well? Sounds very controllable...
@@buttonasas Yes I didn't know that either, very strange design, I wonder what their reasoning was.
I also thought it would be an easy Top 1.. what a strange Sword build 😢. Hope to see the "new" build soon!
Yeah that blacksmith build is very high roll dependent but one of the strongest builds when it gets going
Had a good time watching the stream. Ill try to catch it weekly or replay the VOD.
Awesome, glad you enjoyed it
This mechanic no longer works that way, you now lose health and spirit armor does not mitigate the health loss.
I just re-tested it and it still seemed to work. I went to practice tool, turned off cooldowns, bought a bunch of spirit items and bullet armor (to be at the same hp for when I test it with spirit armor) and 3'd the wall 5 times as fast as possible. then i sold bullet armor and bought spirit armor, got back to full hp, and 3'd the wall 5 times again. I ended with 689 hp with spirit armor but 490 with bullet armor. If spirit armor didnt reduce damage taken than i should be even lower because spirit armor comes with 6 spirit power which should make me take 21 extra damage from 5 3's.
It's times like this that I wish my head was a watermelon
thats deep frfr
Yan Xue's P3 giving 2 defense for the first attack isn't a bug. It was recently buffed so it's intended.
Okay that's interesting. I thought she was the strongest cloud sword character right now so a buff to her surprises me.
Nope, you can't terminally self-damage... but you can die to a Sinner's Sacrifice - learned that the hard way :'D
That's funny, I didn't even know you took damage from those XD
I made my own Abrams *melee* build and it's super fun, especially the part where I can contribute to objectives and fights regardless of how behind I am in souls. It's called That Scar's Adaptable Bash Abrams. I wonder what you think about Abrams and if you want to give him a decent try. I'd love to see what build you would whip out. You have a lot more experience than me in this sort of thing - your whole channel is about games with "builds". BTW, just gave Yi Xuan a try solely because of your videos. Anyways, the Deadlock items you may be sleeping on: - anything that adds ammo gets doubled by Melee Charge... including temporary ammo from Kinetic Dash (+5 flat) and Fleet Foot (+30%) - the former is relevant for Abrams (because of tiny mag) but the latter is just as fun and I'm eager to try McGinnis with it now. I'm bad at walls, though... - I love Majestic Leap for rotating - I find it especially great when I don't have any sprint speed. - anyone tanky enough should pick Return Fire (1250) instead of Metal Skin (3000) and pick it EARLY - the damage output is ridiculous and you help the fight just by getting shot. Your health is now your damage. - anti-CC, like Warp Stone for knockups and Debuff Remover for... almost everything else - DoT, lift, disarm, even attached bombs count as debuffs!
Thats awesome, it's a great game that deserves more recognition. And yeah, Abrams definitely interests me because I like those hard to kill raid boss type characters, I'll look up the build. I was also winging that melee build but after thinking about it, idk if you have seen the movement deadlock videos, but you can cancel heavy melee with Fleetfoot for some fancy movement tech, so I would want to get good at that tech and then add it in over Soulshredder Bullets. And I think you're right about return fire, I initially had it in but then removed it after the nerfs, but I think it is still strong enough post-nerf to put back in but idk what I want to remove for it. As far as cc I usually just facetank it in my 2 on McGinnis lol. But thanks for noticing that I put a lot of thought into builds; I know I'm not the most mechanically gifted player, but I like to think I'm good at recognizing strong builds and characters, like noticing McGinnis and Lady Geist were broken when everyone thought they were bad, my next prediction is everyone is going to realize how broken Mystic Slow is. Fleetfoot melee tech if you're curious | ua-cam.com/video/KzSXSIpAFU8/v-deo.html
@@TrellsYT holy shit that is advanced, thank you for the link
keep up the good work. Nice gameplay
Thanks homie
always enjoyed these builds in seasons past. looking fwd to giving this a try
It's a fun one for sure. Results may vary I definitely high rolled XD
@@TrellsYT its not unlike other hep builds where u need to hit the big heaven hex as well as the gold jobs
Took out reach ??? Yea guys fong waste ur time on this guy
I personally like status effect mcginnis most. ricochet, every bullet status effect under the sun, bullet life steal out the wazoo. anything you hit bounces and hits everything else, proccing all effects and giving you infinite life regen. as long as you have targets to shoot, you're not dying, except for CC, so just keep your distance.
Il definitely give it a try. ive tried something similar with siphon bullets, tesla, etc but I didnt realize that ricochet would proc the effects as well.
Hey bro, im new to the game and im confused to the "Switch" card how to use the other side? Great vid btw for a newbie like me :)
Glad it helped! You have to put the card in play, and then take it out back to your hand, and then put it back in play and it will switch to the other version.
I think it's possible they weren't cheating with the brocade rat. It's really unlikely, but definitely possible. First, the backup deck is legit. They have to hold 3 cards for the cat spirit sword, and with 2 storage cards it's basically free to have 5 other cards. However, they were at least 21 cultivation ahead of normal cultivation gain + fates when you saw their round 15 board (likely more) The biggest thing is you never managed to look at their board between rounds 2-15, so it's possible they had an upgraded brocade rat the whole game and you never saw it. It's possible they had it as soon as round 4 (although they didn't lose destiny that round and their board would have to be just the rat), but it's more feasible round 5. Then, with an upgraded rat it's possible they could break through to incantation phase on round 9, and also drawing finishing touch to upgrade the rat again. (Their board would be like 5 cards because of storage, so it's still a decent deck). This ends up being 8 cards from rounds 5-8, and 18 cards from rounds 9-14. AKA: With upgraded brocade rat on round 5 and painter, it's possible to draw 26 additional cards by round 15.
Wow great analysis. Yeah, you might be right, but I do find it hard to believe that they were able to be that greedy and get away with it. I really wish I had viewed their board or faced them even once and it could clear up this theory because it is really the only feasible answer.
Dont farm that camp at 10 mins into the game as geist dude, thats a surefire waste of time and a death sentence at worst
Yeah u right. Too used to McGinnis' insane tier 3 camp clear sped.
Thought the mic shadow was your nose lmao
Does this game have a "meta" so to say I noticed everyone is using the physique characters, I use the cat girl would I be able to make it to the later stages of ranked using her?
The way I like to check the meta is by looking at the leaderboards for the characters and seeing where the top ten players of each character are at. You can find it underneath the character select when you're readying for a match. Cat girl seems to be below average rn but fine, actually better than Nangong Sheng atm.
Yeah Duan Xuan is strong and has been since the sect was added. Cloud sword is always relatively around or above average.
That's what I get for typing during the first part. Basically if it has another name in there other than Bullet. It does not count for a Bullet Bullet Bullet build. English is not the creators first language I don't think. So things like silver bullets and poison bullets are not bullet bullets. I think big bullets count it's been a while. There is a lot of customizing you can do. Worker bullet is way OP when used properly. OH and it gets harder haven't tried the update yet.
I'll definitely have to try getting further. It is a unique concept, and I could see glimpses of combo potential. In a sea of deckbuilding roguelikes, I definitely enjoy when devs have unique twists like this.
Finally! An English speaker playing this! No offense to any one but, I was driving an innocent Swede insane. This game deserves more attention. The creator said it's all his doodles on the cards too. And now I forgot all the combos I used. LOL. Looks like he made some updates too.
Very nice, and it would be much better with an unpixelated gameplay footage :)
Thanks for the feedback, it didn't look like that as I was playing, I think I found a fix.
Cool build and nice vid! I never thought of World Smash with Nangong Sheng's relic, definitely going to try it out.
Thanks! Yeah, I didn't see it at first either, it's a weird build for sure because the relic doesn't count as an element itself.
do you have or want to make tutorials on how to get through or navigate through the early/mid/late game= maybe from faction perspective or something? Like your stuff and the game.
Consider it done! ua-cam.com/video/Dvfd6ri_7Hc/v-deo.html
Closed Alpha btw and this was not the first ever game, its been in alpha for a long time, since about may or before then
did you do the lane tutorial before going into the game?
Hey there, i am just wondering why you skip cutscenes, i mean it´s potentially very important as a newbie since story can also be a big reason to convince people to pick it up. Btw, the story is very solid in this game. Great lore and such. And IMO it only get´s better.
Thanks for the feedback, I've been conflicted on this since I started doing game spotlights. I don't want to spoil the story for people and I also don't want the video going on too long. I also want to make it as far into the game in that 30-40 minute window as I can in order to show as much of the game as possible in such a short window. I'll definitely consider showing cutscenes in the future, maybe I'll let the videos go a little longer too.
