Expensive
I think I would get this for a tripod because it gets you away from awkward attaching spring clips. It snaps on and off fast. But that’s it.
Thank you for an interesting video! We can't wait to answer your questions below.
Legend, thank you for this clarity.
quick and easy tutorial. Thanks for not waisting any of my time!
does this case alone stick to metal surfaces without all the extra accessories? i cant find an ansnwer anywhere lol
Yes, it does!
@@MrGeorgeCheng is the magnet strong enough to keep the phone from sliding down? i have a pro max its pretty heavy
@MarleyOnThaBluff not sure if it’d hold up a pro max. I have a regular pro and it can hold it up. Keep in mind that the ridges around the cameras make it such that the case isn’t completely flat, so if you’re sticking it on a flat metal surface it might not work. However, if you’re planning to mount it to a wall, PD also sells wall mounts which are basically magnetic bases you can stick in the wall.
You forgot to say the sd card must be reformatted before being used again for taking photos
Interesting to read the comments. I have owned both the 18-55 and 16-80. The main problem for me with the 18-55 was inconsistency of manufacturing. My specific 18-55 had uneven focus from side to side, rendering it almost unusable. I've read about others with a similar problem, and yes, I bought it new. I ended up purchasing three used 16-80s to match my multiple Fuji bodies (X-H2, X-T3 and X-T20) and am quite happy with the result. As a postscript, I recently picked up a Tamron 18-300 and am "auditioning" it for use as a travel lens. So far, as long as I recognize its limitations (it's not a fast lens), the images have been really good and I LOVE the wide focal range. For my purposes, it's all about creative freedom and less about pixel-peeping.
I own the 18-55 for just a couple of weeks but I found an excellent deal for the 16-80 for 250€, used but mint! Should I grab it? I own the X-T30.
If you can get a deal on it I think it’s worth getting. The 16-80 has a much wider range available. It will feel much bulkier than the 18-55, but if you know you will be shooting outdoors and want the extra reach or wider angle, then it’s a great choice.
This should be the official user manual 😂
thank you! will try it for sure
Omg! I wish I had found this earlier! Great demonstration 👍
Yea! Those magnets are amazing
The case also looks so nice especially on pixel phones
Wich will be your 1st prime recommendation?
I would recommend the 35mm f2 as your first prime. But you prefer something a bit wider, then the 23mm f2 would be my next recommendation.
Thank you so much George! it worked!
Thanks....
Caveat is his favorite new word
Good video. I went through the same experience when I first got my X-T5. I ignored that movie optimized setting as I didn’t think it was for me. But after using the camera for a while and going back and forth between video and photography, I understood the benefit.
If this was yelp I’d give you 5 Stars
Yes. I ride a motorcycle and this design and mount systems are 100x better than quad lock and every approach I’ve tried. You won’t regret it only that you should have gotten it sooner
get the round magnetic pop socket. I have been using it for long time with my peak cases....super strong!
I was wondering if the round magsafe popsocket will work with this case.
Love this! I have been feeling this for a long time! Thanks for saying it! Great video man
The problem with people talking about cameras on youtube, only a talking head and a very boring background. Not a single photo or video sample shown. It`s a VISUAL medium, show us something!!
Works wonderfully. Thank you! I have windows version 16.2.6 and I just renamed the original Film Curves folder and then copied in the new version of that folder with the Reala Ace files. Raw images look identical to the way they were rendered in the newer installation of C1.
How would I be able to dial exposure compensate with this silence mode?
If you configured you settings manually, you wouldn't use the exposure comp, as your settings would set the exposure. But if you didn't do that, you can set the exposure comp using the command dial on the front of the camera.
Hi, I have a question. I want to use the Peak Design Mobile Tripod with my S23 ultra but I'm not sure wich case is the best for magsafe. I heard that the Magbak Case has stronger Magnets but will it work as good as the Peak Design Case with the tripod?
I’m not familiar with the Magbak case, however, as long as it’s similar to MagSafe it should be okay. The PD Tripod works on MagSafe iPhones without a case, but it’s definitely more secure with the PD case which has strong magnets. If the Magbak case is also stronger than regular MagSafe, then it should be okay.
@@MrGeorgeCheng oh Ok, because i know that the magnets on the MagBak Case can reach 140mT and the Magnets on the Peak Design Case only 104mT.
so do you think i can use it with the MagBak Case without having the fear that it can falls?
If it’s at least as strong as the PD case then there shouldn’t be any issues.
You covered all of my concerns and more. Thanks for the in-depth look into this product!
Do you think it will work as good if i use it on a spigen onetap ring magsafe for my S23 ultra?
It works with MagSafe so it should be compatible as it’s using the magnets to hold it even with the Peak Design case. The PD case just has stronger magnets than MagSafe which makes the hold extra strong. But I would feel fine using it with just MagSafe.
Thanks for posting this, but I am curious how this compares to JPGs shot in Reala Ace? Like you, I have an updated X-T5 and an older perpetual license C1 (v 16.2.6.7). I replicated your steps and can see the Reala Ace film curve in C1. However, when applied to a raw file, the image looks nothing like the JPG version of the same photo shot in Reala Ace. It seems my version is not interpolating the film curve properly?
Did you also copy over the P1X files?
@@MrGeorgeCheng Yes
Finally, thank you! I literally just opened a support ticket with C1 for this. Thanks to you and this video, I now have Reala Ace in my perpetual license version 🎉
Glad it helped!
@@MrGeorgeCheng by the way, this was C1's response to the help ticket: "Reala Ace Film simulation has been added in Capture One 16.4.4, so you can't get them to display in the Curve drop-down menu in an older version. Therefore, you need to upgrade to 16.4.4. If you want to make sure that you get all new updates and upgrades to Capture One, consider a subscription model rather than a perpetual license. The subscription license guarantees you access to the latest version of Capture One with the newest features without any additional costs."
@larryb.4339 we now know how to get new film sims “without any additional costs.” 😉
thanks :)
Useful, but you missed one major point... the Light Dome actually had two release tabs, a large one and a smaller one. You didn't mention the smaller one, which serves to reduce the pressure required to open the Light Dome even more. Be sure to release the smaller tab as well as the larger one for easiest setup. You are absolutely correct in that you really must push down to the ground if you are to have any chance of opening the Dome. Thanks for the video.
Thanks George !
I have a X-T50. There's a new firmware update available for the camera. I followed this instruction but the camera keep saying the firmware isn't for this camera. Something is off. I tried but OTA update via the app as well as via the sd card method covered in this video. What should i do?
Fujifilm made an announcement that there is a firmware bug affecting specific models of the X-T50 and that a new firmware update will be coming out soon to address this. Seems your camera is affected. You will have to wait for the next update. You can read more about it here: www.fujirumors.com/notice-and-apology-to-fujifilm-x-t50-users-serial-number-of-x-t50s-affected-by-firmware-bug-and-fix-coming-soon/
Come to Ireland….odds of shooting in bad weather are high😂 Great, balanced video though.
I would love to visit Ireland! The newer XF16-50 would be a great alternative to the XF18-55 for those in rainy environments. It wasn’t out yet when I did this video, so perhaps I’ll need to do a follow-up video once I’ve had a chance to play around with it. Thanks for your comment!
Thanks a lot man. very helpful
Merci 👍👍👍
Thanks George, I appreciate the tuturial. It worked fine. Subbed. Cheers! Eric
XC 15-45 is the one ☝️😤 Under a hundred bucks used. Smallest of the bunch. Ideal for street photography.
Thanks for the comment! I agree smaller is always better for street photography.
While I hate the experience of using the XC15-45 (zoom, focus, aperture) it does produce nicely rendered photos. I just bought the after-market lens hood for it to control flaring, so I’ll see if it can be an Every Day Carry - even lighter than the 18-55. The 18-55 is a much more pleasurable “Fuji Experience “ lens, though.
Thanks for this very practical assessment. Having shot Sony Full Frame for many years, I picked the APS-C Fuji to gain access to lighter lenses, so the 18-55 has been the right choice for me.
Thanks. You totally helped me know I don’t need this PD item.
Thanks George. I've written some notes on a 6x4 card for the next firmware upgrades!
Hello, I just bought the camera and I'm wondering if you have to update the firmware from the first update to the latest or can I just update the latest only? Very simply done and thank you for this....
You should be able to just update to the latest version as it should include all the past version updates as well. Cheers!
Thank you!! Very helpful - I was stuck!! Ha, ha. Much appreciated as it never occurred to me to put it on the ground.
Glad it helped!
I would suggest neither. Get the sigma 18-50mm instead.
No doubt a good third-party lens!
Ugly, lol. Most third party looks so shit on Fuji
The problem I have is if I want to change between 4k to 6k it won’t save the video settings, so you have to set up the SS again
Would savings 4k and 6k preferred settings to video custom modes solve your problem? This is what I do - I also auto -save custom modes in video (which I DON'T do for photo mode) which seems to make it stick. Not positive this addresses your concern though
@@GregoryLopez1 I did but it won't save the SS, so you will have to change it manually again
Oh boy... in my day your... anything electronic.... was done for if you got it anywhere near a magnet😂😂
Just played around with the Sigma 18-50 f2.8. Also a good contender besides the ones mentioned in the video. But on topic, the xf 18-55 f2.8-4 would be my choiche. What a marvelous little lens. But consider the Sigma too. Especially if you own a camera with IBIS.
No doubt the Sigma is a great third-party lens option!
Can’t really say it’s a hidden feature, at least I don’t feel that secure as much as you do. I’m using the one with a loop just at the bottom of the notch. Intentionally designed for secure hold.
cool short bro you really gave us the info we were hoping for here. thanks for letting us know whether you like it or not instead of saying absolutely nothing.
