This is part of a consecutive run of magazines that came out around this time that were stapled instead of with the glued spine. There was no place to print on the spine with the type of binding it used.

Thank you for this info. This is exactly what i needed to know… this cover is so iconic! When i didnt see the spine with the number and nintendo power logo I thought it was a store display… so what issue did this spine with the staples ??? I thought the earlier ones had spines??

Yes, they went back and forth. I believe it had to do with the page count fluctuating. Issues 79-91 were produced with stapled spines, then from issue 92 onward, they produced with the glued spine.

Unfortunately, they way you are doing it is the best path to follow. It's a slow road if you want to collect at that level. It takes a lot of communication, requests, and patience, but it sounds like you've done excellent so far. One avenue that may be helpful is the Nintendo Power Facebook group if you are not already a part of it. If you are not, email me at the address in the channel description and I'll send you a link, or you can look it up yourself if you feel more comfortable doing that.

We had enough for what we needed growing up, but not much more for things like video game magazines, so I would get them when I could, and always looked for used or last months copies from a few comic and card shops that were near my house. I was able to get a subscription later though.

I agree that they may not be corolated, but its really the only possibility I've come across in many years. Even though the person did pay for it, it may have been considered "free" if it was to cover the cost of shipping. Many commercials on television had may ads that would offer "free" items, and then follow it with "just pay $×.×× for shipping and handling," so it would be more of a qualified "free." But I agree that I could be wrong. I'd love for someone to have more information about it. Plz let me know if you ever come across anything.

Hi, thanks! I have my magazines in BCW magazine polypropylene bags with BCW boards for stability. I currently have them displayed in some 3x3 cube organizers I bought from Walmart and stacked on top of each other. I'm not fancy.

@@nintendopowercollectorsgui4579 does one of those 3x3 cubes from Walmart hold all 285 if I wanted to display all of them?

@OPTICGAMER747 each cube holds about 35 magazines, so it could fit about 315 total, so 285 would fit. But if you start to add the newstand editions from 222-285, then you would need more then just a single 3x3. I have two 3x3 organizers stacked onto top of each other, and then two 1x3 against the 3x3's giving me a combined cubical arrangement of 6 tall and 4 across.

Although this one is Canadian, there are also US variants of this issue sealed. Most of the US sealed magazines after 222 had a renew insert stuck onto the cover, and thats why it came in a polymer bag, but this issue specifically I've seen sealed in a polymer bag along with the Luigi special collector's poster magazine that came out around this time. But there are a few US magazines that came sealed with extras in them but they were newsstand editions.

I'm not sure, but I definitely know what you are talking about. It might just be a defect that happened to a few batches.

That's great! Unfortunately, as far as value, it fluctuates. I've seen the set sell for a ridiculous amount during Covid, but it has dropped now. Latly, I've seen a few collector's edition sets sell from $300-$700, with the usual selling price around $450-475ish. But it all depends on who is looking and how many are available for sale at the time.

Someone listed individual cards on eBay between 40-60 each, and have sold a few....most of the ones sold even have damaged/white corners.

I can't find the list I had on my phone, but if you keep watching the short videos about what comes in each magazine, I show them in those videos. Some I remember are 73 had DKC cards 75 had virtual boy cards 79 had DCK2 cards 98 had star fox cards

It is most likely an error. A card got stuck, or two came out by accident. Pretty cool though.

Some of the issues did have different cards. It seems a large percentage of the issues had similar cards, and a smaller percentage had different cards. The renew covers, and renew icon covers had different cards in them also many times.

If you are asking about the 3 indices( Index, 2nd edition, and 3rd edition) the first index was made available for purchase in the Nintendo power supplies catalog that came with issue 54, and then in subsequent supplies catalogs you could purchase the second and third edition.

They state they are the "best cards from the first year" but I don't know who would have actually considered those specific cards as "the best". They missed a number that should have made the list and some of the cards really shouldn't be part the collector's set.

As a set, with all the variants, yes. Individually, the price is not too high unless it's the spy vs spy variant. That Individual card can be expensive if the person knows what they have.

It’s no problem man . Luckily I was able to get me some recently at a local retro game store and there’s this guy who runs a big yard sale business who’s supposed to hook me up with more . Like I said I’ve been a huge Nintendo fan my whole life . I grew up in the 90 s playing the nes and snes and all the other systems . I never had any Nintendo power magazines growing up and I would love to own every issue like u do . Your very blessed to own every copy especially to have some sealed and with all the posters . But if u ever do have any extra magazines u want to sell let me know . Thank u . I’m subscribed by the way

Thanks so much. I will definitely let you know. I only had a few nintendo powers growing up and only was able to get a subscription when I was a bit older because we really didn't have the money to spend on it. But I always wanted to have them, and now that I'm older, I was able to put together the set I never had. Slow and steady wins the race. If you are not in a hurry, you will be able to put most of the set together at a reasonable price. Just keep your eyes open for the deals, and you'll catch them when they appear. And enjoy the hunt along the way!!!

Yes, on page 108 it shows the GBA connected to a Game Cube, and page 110-111 has the article "Introducing Game Boy Advance
