You may already know this by now or already did. But for the ones that don’t, Advance bought out car quest. They had switched from auto craft to die hard just a few years ago and the stores are sent the stickers and told to “remove the previous stickers from the batteries” and replace them new brand name, Die Hard sticker. They really do it with a lot of their products. The tools/ used to be GearWrench, and switched to auto craft and now just in last 2 years switched to Die hard. Advance had been doing that for years and have bought out so many companies like Car Quest. Another one would be Western Auto! But the important thing to remember is the date on the battery. (Of course the warranty) but the date that Advance has is on a little round sticker that will be located on the side of the battery. The rule is that is the date the battery was mfg, so they are suppose to ‘rotate’ their batteries every week when they get their trucks. A lot of them fail to load their batteries on the battery shelves from the “back” of the shelves so the older ones at available first. A lot of the stores won’t have them labeled in the back so it’s easier for some to just go to the front of the shelves and load new batteries from there bc they can see the part number on the shelf label with the price. Now by doing this and not always guaranteed to make sure they sell them steadily so some may sit longer than others. Now they are also suppose to check the dates on the batteries every week when truck comes and they are unloading them to the floor or overstock ones to the back. And if the DATE IS OVER 18 MONTHS OLD FROM MFG DATE THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO PULL THE BATTERY AND PLACE IN AN AREA FOR THE “DISCOUNTED BATTERIES” now these batteries are discounted usually to commercial garages first but if your in good with your people at your local store then you can probably have dibs too. But there are different prices with generic part numbers they put on just 1. Auto batteries 2. Lawn 3. Some do marine 4. Optima batteries 5. Some do small engine batteries. But they are suppose to be discounted. (If they don’t know how to do this or are unaware of it- they can look it up on the system called “Starting Line” at their PC/POS. (I refer to it as ‘The Advance Bible’ - all the way down to their ‘acronym dictionary’ for Advance.) but anyways, make sure they test any battery before purchase! Even when you have them install one for you bc they could be partially dead or dead or past date (18 mths) and always have them test them after the installation to ensure that your alternator and starter is good (bc battery tested and shows dead battery the tester won’t test any further until that is rectified. (Could be what’s causing the battery to drain prematurely) plus now with a lot of the newer cars there are a lot of electronics and features that won’t work after new battery is installed bc there is a reset device that the store has with their electronic tester that also plugs into the obd and resets the electronics that is “supposed” to be done anyways after installing of battery. Otherwise you’ll drive away with no radio, etc. (found out hard way) and now they have the “E” batteries. I’m a previous employee that was a GM of my own location for a few years and a “floating” GMIT FOR a year before that. Left due to corporate BS. It’s a vicious cycle (corp that is) But in the few years I was there they did a few of these sticker changes on just the batteries alone. I will say I left a toxic relationship a few years back and had not been in the working field for a the man’ for about 13 years and when I started my employment with Advance Auto 5 years ago I could even tell you how to change the wiper blades on my car, I had a great boss before my GMIT and he taught me so much. Before I knew it I was showing grumpy older men how to change their wiper blades or showing them how to change out their batteries or the amount of women that I encourage to do things too for themselves. It was a field I thoroughly enjoyed to be a part of and miss actually. But yea that is what I learned during my endeavors of employment with Advance Auto. Anyways have a great day! 😊

Use the synthetic ultra version it’s meant for very cold and hot temperatures compared to the conventional oil version Well actually any synthetic oils are gonna work better in very hot or cold temperatures Conventional oils get thicker in the cold and in the heat it gets really runny

My question is why cut the heater hoses, if you dont have the removal tool for the fucked up heater hose connectors just take a good pair of snips and cut in the sides of the holes on the clamps/connectors at the heater core, then replace with new, more standard clamps. Makes sense while your there to do the metal water neck upgrade as well if its a gmt800.

Either there’s no coolant in the radiator or if there is and more then Lilly there is….. you probably have a impeller on the water pump that’s been shaved down so it’s only a flat blade instead of being able to force the coolant. More then likely that’s your issue and always always swap out the thermostat!!! Be safe hot coolant will scald you
