Great presentation and keep at it. We have to seriously take a better inventory of our dams as a society and keep the beneficial dams while removing the most harmful. We have to live in harmony with our natural world. Any progress on Kinneytown Dam Removal?

This is amazing news! I've been waiting for the past few years. I'm from NY, I'm used to frequent transportation running all night. It's an improvement. How long will it take? I hope soon, you have over 1/2 million NYers move to CT.
Thank you for your comment! The timeline for implementation is in progress, some actions have been completed by the state, some are underway, while others are long term visions. We'll be sure to share project updates in the future.
Generally looks like a good plan. The consolidation of the Seymour and Naugatuck stations may cost them some passengers, though. Both locations are convenient to local residents who may be casual users of the system. Have to wonder what the ROI projection is for this project.
We appreciate your thoughtful observations! Stay tuned for more updates in the future.
Wow, this is amazing! Love seeing the future plans for Route 8 & Waterbury rail line…
Thank you for your excitement! We're thrilled to have your support as we work towards enhancing the Route 8 & Waterbury rail line.
Can you link to the high cube warehouse and freight plan ordinances?
Hello Nancy, the ordinances can be found on the following webpage: www.northamptoncounty.org/CMTYECDV/Pages/Freight-Based-Land-Use-Management-Guide.aspx
Hi Rick Dunne
Question: Are there any plans to have installed on the fishing pier those PVC fishing line containment systems so that perhaps the amount of discarded fishing line is hopefully reduced?? I ask because as someone who was a part of the original city's Adopt A Spot program where I was responsible for the waterways both in and around Osullivan's island from 2008 thru 2016, and can attest the great harm that discarded fishing line and tackle along with garbage does to wildlife, not to mention that I was involved with wildlife rescue during that same time frame. I would hope the answer is yes, and this would also be a great opportunity to have some signage made which shows the different wildlife in this area as well, perhaps the HVA can help with that... Hopefully this turns out good and the people treat it with respect and don't trash the place. Hopefully someday they can allow kayaking and canoeing again, as the former boat launch was to me anyway Derby's greatest recreational asset up until the time it was closed.
Note: Scoot & Paddle is gaining Zoning approval for their Bicycle/Kayak Rental spot adjacent to the Greenway which will be an awesome compliment to outdoor recreation and cleanups!
@@1SALADLOVER Hi Susan, that would be outstanding !! Would this open the door for being able to kayak out of O'Sullivan's Island again ?? PS: Did you ever find the dog you were looking for [I'm the person whose house you stopped by with all the kayaks etc...]
@@georgewaters8592 Small World right? Nice to see you here. Well thankfully they did find the dog who had been hit by a car but fared well anyway. I always slip my kayak under the gate and just take off towards Sikorsky, not a deterrent to me. It will be amazing to finally have water recreation abounding by Summer? Yay for Cleanups!
@@1SALADLOVER I'll be honest with you, if the City can build a big fishing pier, on an area which actual ownership is up for debate, meaning is it City or State owned, because I have yet to get a straight answer from anyone about the actual status of Osullivans Island, then I see no reason why a canoe/kayak portage launch cannot be put in place as well. Believe me I would love to be able to kayak that river again, as it's been far too long now, but with my lunch I would get caught launching and be arrested, so I instead look at the river from my house. Hopefully this will change. I see no reason why kayaks and canoes are not able to legally launch out of Derby. It would be great if someone from City Hall could clarify this, but theres no one to ask. Hard to believe there is no kayak/canoe launch there, as it used to be listed in the Housatonic River portage areas, along with directly across the river in Shelton, again hopefully that changes. I like they way you think, just launch anyway. I would think that is legal if there is no posted signage forbidding it. I'm going to have to scope things out someday but then again I dont feel like getting flat tires either. Can one even get down there with all the endless construction going on ??
@@georgewaters8592 The Canoe/Kayak Launch is a done deal with Zoning and will be up and running by this Summer! O'Sullivan Island has a protective barrier that cannot be penetrated by anything permanent. The Fishing Pier is not able to support a launch as per the NV. So, Scoot & Paddle will have storage for their bikes and kayaks which is better and also in that general area. The sadness is It all changed when the State levied their mandate we could no longer use the launch. But, I've used the launch as others and sometimes the gate is even left open for a few weeks as it was last Summer. The parking is fine and yes their is access there to lot/launch area. I am there every day jogging. (BTW, the State lists Stevenson Dam area as launch and it's so WILD we could not find it let alone access.) See you soon out there I hope. My two kayaks are ready and Scoot & Paddle allow you to launch from their setup for the fee of $5.00. Yes!
Is there any updates on this?
Yes, monthly updates are presented during our monthly NVCOG meetings. Recordings of these meetings are available to watch on our channel and they are live streamed also.
