Follow along as we explore different types of hunting and adventure throughout Alberta. NTL will focus on hunting, fishing, and anything outdoors, with some gear tips as well. My name is Jon Hamilton, I have been a hunting and fishing guide in northern Alberta. I have hunted with friends and family all over Alberta and I want to share my knowledge of hunting and the outdoors, and hopefully inspire someone else to follow their passion and achieve their goals.
I have built an online store and would greatly appreciate the support that helps me create more content and opportunities to share this beautiful area with everyone.

Sheep Series #3 A Dream Come True Sheep Hunt
I have been dreaming of this hunt since a hiking trip in 2009. My first time being way up in the shale with some sheep. This was an unforgettable adventure. My brother and nephew join me on a hunt for Bighorn Sheep. I will spend a long time paying them back for this trip. I learned a lot about the mountain and myself. I am itching to go back as soon as I can. I accomplished the goals I had set for the trip. And I learned how I need to prepare for next trip. Please SUBSCRIBE and see how I get ready over this next year for round 2.

2023 Upland Birds "First Time Pheasants"
Переглядів 13511 місяців тому
I finally got the chance to get a pheasant of my own. After seeing how much fun we had the first day my son wanted to go and try as well. Two awesome days spent in the field. Taking my kids into the bush has become my new favorite thing. We will be practicing over the next year to be right back there next fall. Sheep Series #2 Rifle Check on Steel

Video #2 in the series of trying to get a bighorn sheep in Alberta. I will continue adding to this series for as long as it takes to achieve the goal. And once I do get one I'm sure I won't ever stop. My hunting partners and I get our rifles checked out to long-range in preparation for the chance of high mountain shots. Let me know what you think and once I have learned more I will surely share...

People who shoot beavers are actually morons, they are part of the ecosystem, you are not.
WMU?
It looks like your Dad is Brian Hamilton from Cold Lake!! Where do you live and hunt most of the time?
@@tkaminski314 you are correct. I still live in the cold area. We hunt all over Alberta. Lately I am trying to learn more about the crown land to the north. Also getting into mountain hunting. (Another part of seven degrees of separation I think our wives work together.)
@@NonTypicalLife I have hunted the crown land in WMU 514. There are some good deer hunting opportunities up there. However, moose and elk you can rarely get drawn for a tag.
What’s the point in hunting sheep? The meat is tough
@@chelg I still want to give it a try. I had always heard antelope was no good but it’s now one of my favourites. And the challenge of the mountain hunt is a big draw. I feel more peace in the mountains than most other places. Might only ever get one ram.
@@NonTypicalLife fair enough… because shooting for trophies is really fucked up
That was cool
Well that was terrible. Stick to the range
The only way we learn the Mountain Hunting game is by actually doing. Great job fellas
Thankyou. I have wanted to get into it for a long time and hoping and can keep doing it now.
'promo sm'
good vid jon
It looks like you had some great time outside, for grouse I carry a slingshot, pellet gun is too heavy, not powerful enough (unless you hit head/neck) and still too loud for my liking. Maybe we'll cross paths in the forest one of these days. New sub 👍
Thank you. Anytime spent in the bush is a success. No other place like it. I have been thinking about the slingshot too. I would need a bunch of practice.
Thanks for taking me along! It has been many years since I rode a horse in the mountains of Alberta, maybe someday I'll get back there for another ride.
Thankyou for watching. It was an incredible experience. I really hope you do make it back out there. The mountains can do amazing things for your heart and mind. We were just back there again 2 weeks ago and did it all on foot.
@@NonTypicalLife Did you get your sheep? I live in the mountains of southern BC, but would like to revisit the area I rode near Cochrane, we had a lot of fun riding in the Wiaporious River area.
@@nathanadrian7797no luck that time. But I fully intend to try again. I was told, on average, the year you start sheep hunting is the year your ram was born. Only 8 more years of trying.
@@NonTypicalLife Keep it up my friend, Alberta has the best sheep hunting in North America! Good luck and God bless!
Tryin out pheasant hunting for first time in alberta this season
Great video. Tough little guys to hunt - great job. The meat is the best - just too bad you don't get that much off one. Good luck this year in the upcoming season.
Thankyou. The meat has been great. Roasts on the BBQ especially.
What gun is that?
he was shooting an o/u 20gauge with slugs. I'm not sure the make and model.
Good adventures!!!
Great job! What bullet were you using?
For the 6.5 I shoot the Winchester Deer Season XP 125gr. According to the charts it carries speed and energy really well and costs significantly less. It worked on a whitetail last fall just fine too. I will be trying it out again this fall.
Doing a DIY first time elk hunt on the eastern slopes cant wait. Good chance ill get skunk ed but who cares
Thats awesome. The actual harvest should always come second to going out on and adventure and learning something new. Good luck. We are headed for our first sheep hunt this year. I am just focusing on being in good shape and having fun camping on a mountain for a week.
Great couple days in the woods. Only two more months and we get started again. I chuckled those moose make a lot of noise. Gives you time to get ready.
Thankyou. I am so pumped for this year. I just got back from a scouting trip for my first Alberta Sheep hunt.
Great video I enjoyed this. Did you harvest these bulls on crown land? What dates were you guys hunting? Congrats.
Thankyou. Yes we were on crown land. We usually go the last part of November hoping for snow and cold weather to get the elk herded up again. That year just happened to be unusually warm.
Great day in the field with a couple birds on the tailgate. Enjoyed.
Nice fish
Beautiful bear! Great hunt
Great hunt!
Your going to turn up volume, we can barely hear you, tnx
great video ,elk and hunt
great deer and keep smashing them coyotes I'm in
two dumb and stupid hunter.
only ass holes would shoot a bear
No music great buck
Nice country not far from my cabins 175 yards open sights muzzleloader that's a tough shot hopefully you practice Lots.
Great job
Looks a little past shooting light for Alberta
The camera light makes it appear that way. I can assure you it was literally 5 minutes before because I was watching the clock as I watched my bull walk away and i couldn't shoot again and feared he would hit the tree line. Luckily he made it to about 400 yards and laid down. Thats where I learned I was getting almost no expansion with the bullets I was using. clean finger size hole through both lungs at 85 yards. I can't prove it though you just have to trust me.
Even if he shot it in the dead middle of the night what are you gonna do? 1 , mind your buisness. 2 ,You are not fish and game. 3, let the man fill his freezer.
Awesome hunt! congrats!
Thankyou.
I have never seen better video of bears on baits. This should be mandatory watching for anyone hunting Alberta or Saskatchewan black bears. Darcy knows his stuff evidenced by the fact he did not get excited by that little gaffer who came right up to him. You guys showed the sort of patience that guides hope for, but see seldom. There was no bear there that I would have shot knowing the area well from having lived here for a total of close to 20 years. Just a word to the wise if you shoot a bear with a great blaze like the big guy in the trailcam pics. I shot a little sow like that 10 years ago. If you skin it down the belly side like one usually would you split that blaze into at least 3 parts. Those bears need to be skinned starting down the back to keep the blaze intact. Then ask your mother, or wife, or signficant other for enough money for a full body mount which that blaze deserves.
Thankyou very much. Darcy definitely knows what he’s doing. That would be a dream to have a full mount with a blaze like that. Permission or not I don’t know that my bank account could handle that.
Nice "Last Light" comments... Worried about how many points,?, Cause it's dark out maybe lol... Fuck boys
Great video of the hunt and it was fantastic meeting you guys there! Can't wait for part 2!
Thankyou and congrats again on that awesome traditional archery bear you got.
What are you using for a camera? Has good quality and zoom. I'm looking for a good camera to self film also
Thank. It is a Nikon D5500 with an 18-140 lens.
All I got to say is I ain't never seen someone cut a deer in half to haul out. I get the two poles but why couldn't you just tied two legs to one and two to the other.
250lb deer seemed a bit much to carry. it was a couple miles of muskeg back to the truck. I have since upgraded my pack and graduated to the quarter and haul out on my back method.
Well Georgie.... ...thinking 99.9% of all deer killers would never have the issue of having to haul out an amazing animal like these guys had to deep down some powerline in the middle of nowhere, these guys are cool, but don't act like it! George, I wonder, how did you get your monster buck out of the woods...? Please enlighten us...
I also hunt 330. Thos year my crew and I took four wall hangers at rutt.
Good job, it's all a challenge with the weather conditions are less than ideal. BTDT shares is a reminder to be prepared as you were.Great vid!
Thankyou. I appreciate it.
They Hunt 2 Elk's With A Rifle Gun
Great hunt. Great eating.
Great expierence he will never forget.
Great hunt
You did what you could to retrieve the first deer. Cudos to you. Now meat is in the freezer.
Great hunt story. Two nice bulls. Wish we could have seen the encounters though. BTW, the buck shot was a clear miss. Camera setup and rifle are diff angles . the impact was far left. Plus I don't think he would still have sex on his mind with a bullet in him. Lol. Great that you checked for blood though.
Suggest tfull natural hunt from start to finish . no editing.
Respect the challenge you faced great video !!
awesome elk! both were great bulls for alberta!
Nice vid, where is this
Hey thank you. This is on Cold Lake.
