Pressing out a barrel stub from a gas block - Galil SAR
Переглядів 7142 роки тому
We've created this custom fitting that fits perfectly over the end of a Galil gas block from a parts kit. And with a press, it overcomes that 50 year old seal. I know a lot of people out there have trouble getting g these off but the system here removed the barrel stub in under a minute. We'd be willing to offer this service to you with your hard-to-remove gas block that you got in a parts kit ...
Replacing IWI Galil ACE OEM folding stock with a SAR Skeleton Stock

Pressing out an FN FAL Locking Shoulder, Receiver Disassembly
Переглядів 1,2 тис.4 роки тому
Quickly figured out we could not hammer out the locking shoulder. We have a 20 ton press we used to slowly press it out. The same principle can applied with a vise, a hollow item like a socket along with some kind of cylindrical rod or preferably a nippled punch like we were using

      Yup, just press it in with a dimpled punch if your locked shoulder has a recess in it, otherwise just use a regukar flat punch. Orientation of the locking shoulder should be obvious with the mill cut on the side of the receiver

  • @chrisloUSA
    @chrisloUSA Рік тому

    How does the zero work with this night sight? I see you can drift windage with with the front sight post since theyre attached at the same point. However, the elevation looks fixed, do you know what the elevation is? 🤔

    • @seibertsmiths
      @seibertsmiths Рік тому

      Unfortunately with the old Galils, there is no elevation adjustment for the night sights. Rear sight is pinned into the assembly and the assembly is welded onto the cover. And the front night sight is pinned in place and can only have windage changed by moving the entire front sight assembly. It's unfortunate but I get why they did it: production costs and night engagements are generally pretty close range (before introduction of NVGs at scale)

    • @chrisloUSA
      @chrisloUSA Рік тому

      @@seibertsmiths Thanks for educating me, the windage looks like it would be adjust on the nightsight to mimic whatever you set the front sight post for, I figured the elevation would be fixed at a set position looking at it but it would be interesting to know what that range is. I’m thinking of using the nightsights in the daytime since the rear apature is a 350 and 500 meter elevation which is going to be way high if I shoot at 50-100 yards, if the nightsights are good for 50 yards that would be fantastic. I am also looking to see if someone perhaps makes a different style of rear aperture for maybe 100-300 meters, if not I am also considering giving the dude at Galil Hub a spare gas tube off of Apex to weld on an optics rail and shoot it primarily with a red dot.

    • @seibertsmiths

    The 308 gauge is not the same as the 7.62x51 gauge. There is around 4 thousandths longer length to the 7.62x51 gauge. This is because military rifles have a more generous chamber to account for heat and other factors that are not generally encountered with 308 chambered rifles. 308 ammo also has a shorter OAL, which is one reason why it is not recommended to shoot it in M1A rifles.

    Good effort, but replace that E-clip with a new one because you likely stretched or fractured that one. They are normally always replaced. Looks like you have some interference with the Galil stock hitting the folder bracket or does the original not fold flat..?
