While on a sea trial I noticed that the engine was not getting up to the correct temperature. Normal operating temperature is 150 oF or 66 oC. I suspected that the Water Thermostat was stuck / ceased open.

After 2 years of my boat going back and forward with a Marine Engineer to solve my running issues I decided to work on the Engine myself. I have created a series of videos showing each stage of checking everything on my Engine.

      Yes I know, I didn't realise how important the heat range was with spark plugs - you learn something everyday.

    for how much that machine cost wouldn't it have been worth just buying new injectors?

      I did think about that but getting the correct injectors on the island of Cyprus is ver difficult/impossable. So I decided to buy the machine and check out my existing injectors, at lease I was able to clean then and balance them all to deliver the same amount of fuel.

    Really sound like a fuel pressure issue. Is that a TBI or naturally aspirated?

    My road sounds the same, two years two mechanics. Replaced injectors, fuel pump, pressure regulator, ect…still dumping fuel from exhaust. Now due to your videos, I’m going to start in reverse order due to my boat idling and accelerating good, but fuel coming out exhaust. Temp range is high though. Going to check temp sensor and thermostat first.

      @@grahamjerrett8771hey Jerrett, I’m still working on my 5.7 Gi. I did test my heat sensor and thermostat. Heat sensor is good but my thermo was bad. But I ran it and it’s still dumping fuel out the exhaust. Two questions, first, can the fuel lines on the fuel rail be mixed up, and two what about a code reader.

      @@kirklandtimothy1 I’m away at the moment so I can’t check the fuel lines on my boat to see which way round they are. If you check the UA-cam videos of Mancave Mechanic you will be able to see. However, I don’t think that your engine would run if this was the problem. The only way you can get fuel coming out the exhaust is through the exhaust valves, so you could be injecting excess fuel, but that would cause flooding. I’m thinking problems with your exhaust valves (not sealing) or timing which would give you problems (injecting fuel with open exhaust valves). I purchased the Volvo diagnostic (as per my videos), but in all honesty it didn’t produce any fault codes, so it could be a big expense with little return. Let me know how you get on Cheers Graham

    Thanks for the feedback and yes I was messed around a lot with the Mechanic. I couldn’t believe the difference that the correct spark plugs made.

    Great series mate, glad you got it fixed. But, I'm really mad about that mech that messed around with your engine, ESPECIALLY putting in the wrong spark plugs! You should ask/sue for your money back. Anyway, glad you got it fixed, hope to see more videos.
