How Not To Play Half Moon Bay Old Course!! With Tips
Half Moon Bay is home to 2 amazing golf courses, The Ocean Course and the Old Course which you will see today. The Old course has arguably the best finishing holes in the Bay Area, at least for public courses. Where the Ocean Course's final 3 hole stretch gives you breathe taking views of the ocean. Unfortunately the fog rolled in at the worst time so we did not get a chance to experience these views. Right off the ocean the views could not be any better. The only thing that may ruin your round would be the fog.
Unlike the Ocean Course where it is wide open, the Old Course snakes its way through the neighborhood where errant tee shots can be costly. Not only is it important you keep the ball in play, there are a good amount of doglegs and it is important that you play to the correct side of the fairway. Especially if you want to try and reach these par 5s in 2. Both courses provide a great vibe and I believe the newer golfer will enjoy the Ocean Course with how open it is. With that being said the Old Course has arguably the best finishing hole in California, if not the US.
Today we traveled to the coast in Half Moon Bay, CA to play arguably the best Bay Area public course. This video will have some tips so you will not do what I did this round. This is my first time playing the Old Course. With beautiful wildlife and incredible views makes this course even better. Even with the punched greens where would I put this personally? I wasn’t expecting it either. There were 10 range balls in that area and it must of shot out off the net. Took me a couple minutes to realize it went farther than I thought

This would be one of my favorite courses to play. The layout is incredible. It just sounds like with their budget they focus more on the other San Francisco courses
Sadly the rather historic and nice clubhouse burnt down and they’re in the process of rebuilding. This course has some awesome views.

Had my first hole out for eagle on #9 at San Jose Muni. Good Memories. Almost got into a fight with the hooligans behind us on the 13th hole after they hit into us 5 or 6 times. So I am 50/50 on San Jose Muni.

The driving range is overpriced. $10 for small $15 for med and $19 for large. Also no chipping area open to the public.
Yea they just have that small putting green up front. And I feel like more ranges are now getting expensive
I get that it seems expensive, but this place is located in a very expensive area. Can’t even imagine their cost of operations. If you visit a business in a very convenient location, then you will most likely be paying a premium for that convenience.

On hole 3 the tip many people say right off the bat is to get your tee shot below the hole.

Play this course often. Not a bad deal for $50 b4 8. I hook the ball some as well but have learned where to hit it for this course. I also play Spring Valley quite a bit. It's just over the hill from this course. Cool video of this place though.
That’s a great deal. I think when I played it was $95 before 8. Spring valley is probably my favorite course to play
They offer a membership for 300$ a year that actually pays off. I got it last month for 125 for the remainder of the year. You get a free round the day you purchase which is 40 to 50$. You get a buddy pass good for one round with cart, and a free round on your birthday. They give you a box of srixon balls, and then you get 15$ off every round you play. So a twilight costs 25$ with cart that's a steal. I played there 3 times this week saved tons of money. The pace of play is a little slow sometimes but for 25$ a round just skip them. It's a great course
@@theTeflonDon1 thats a great deal. I am just on the other side of the bay so its a drive for me. Plus at the time to was just over $100 a round. I love the layout of the course. Is it still that pricey?
@TyEvsGolf so on weekend peak hours it's 80 or 90 which is not a good deal even with the 15$ off w/ membership. Twilight w/ membership is the way to go. Plus you get the free round and free birthday round, buddy pass, and a box of srixons. Additionally they have real grass driving range with trackmasters to check distance and you get discounted range balls.
Yeah I guess I should have clarified during the week. I play on Wednesdays. Golf anywhere on the weekend is expensive unfortunately

Great course. The 9 hole course is also great. Like Emerald Hill it has character. Boulder creek is a nice course in the woods.

@@TyEvsGolf I play Chabot 9 when they open and I can get 2-3 rounds in on the weekends. The rate is 13$ for the first round and 7$ for the replays. I recommend carry your clubs as if took a 15 foot down hill tumble when my cart took off on the 4th hole. I played 2 more rounds carrying my Sunday bag before going home to cleanout all my cuts.
I just saw your channel for the first time. I enjoyed playing a few holes with you that day. I am still very impressed with your effort that day on my favorite golf course.
