In this clip Turid talks about how she wishes to update her advise in regards to leash pulling. I really really want to know in what way as I've used Turid's book on the subject. If I could get some key components of that update me and my dogs of influence would be of great gratitude!
Hi I want to come , I’m from India and I’ve had a painful experience listening to vets that say you must walk your dogs . I feel I failed my dogs because I failed to listen to their body language.
So amazing. I have been intuitively using the hand signal for so long in different situations without knowing this theory and now it all makes sense, why and how it works 😁
I watch your videos often. I like it.
Nice video
Thank for share
Thank you for this video. Will be getting a puppy soon and this was helpful! Is it „enough“ to take part in an online program or do you think it is necessary to visit a live puppy/dog school? Thank you 🙏🏼
Great video. Thank you 🙏🏼 for these helpful tips!
So happy to have found your videos! Do you know any trainers in Berlin Germany?
Dank je wel!
Dank je voor dit webbinair
Totally agree, thanks for putting this out there.
Man, what are the ways Turid would teach leash walking today and the parts she thought are a bit outdated!
She is still doing so in Norway. You can take online-courses with Nordic Dog Education Centre for Ethical Dog Training and you can go to Hundeland in Norway to learn with her.
Thank you from NZ, i have had dogs around me my whole life and was goid to hear this talk, my new puppy arrives next week and just finished Stephanie Roussesu and Turids book, now i can learn even more.
...Was there more to that video?
🙄
Nope I will not let my dog do this. It's stupid. Pet dogs are 1% of animals. They get more than they need. I don't need a happy dog all the time, just like I don't my kid to be happy all the time. Don't be a slave to your dog.
I have observed that my dog when I’m walking in the bush with her will find a path for me to walk soI can catch up to her if the brush gets to difficult for me to go through. I also noticed that when I can’t find her and she is not responding to her name when I call I need to go back to the beginning of where we started and she will show up there. I have never lost her because I know she will come back I just need to wait.
Really great video! We’ve been doing this for a few minutes each day with our one year old dog. She loves it and it keeps her calm and relaxed. 🌸
Ik hoop dat dit in het Nederlands kan. Wat voor een attentie geluid gebaar kan je aan raden voor een dove hond? Antwoorden in het Noors kan.
Thank you for sharing your experiences with dogs leading to calmness. Please make a video of achieving calmness in dogs with out their human around at home
This is SO helpful...I feel calmer already 🌞 Thank you!
Can i use this signal in order to stop lunging when somebody comes to our house or when my husband goes to the kitchen?
I never leave my dogs in a crate😊
This is very good affirmation of my thoughts and ways I use for walking my rescue pup and have seen his confidence growing during walks and otherwise. Thank you! Also, do you have any videos or plan to post on topic of reducing separation anxiety in dogs for working people who have a single pup at home? Video on this topic would be appreciated and very helpful!
Hello, can you please do a video for separation anxiety and how to train dogs no to get anxious and stressed being at home alone when humans are away for work
I know exactly what you mean..
What a thrill to hear such a awareness whitin this conversation, chapeau. If it's about dogs I'm always eager to develop myself and I'm all for let the dog just be a dog as we humans also just want to be human. Would be nice to have Dutch speaking co-trainers/mentors also in regard to the courses. All goods from Belgium.
Lisbeth, do you think that separate the dogs and take just a few with us, can cause any sort of stressful situation for them?
I teached my first dog many requests, but nowadays, I use three requests for my dogs; wait, come, search. All other commands/cues/requests fall quite quickly in circus tricks, and that is not what I prefer for my dogs.
I'm male and a treat aunt. ;-)
Hi, Great presentation, and I never understood the urge of people who demand their dogs to sit, and understand potential heatlth issues. For some reason, people are hesitant to let their puppies walk too much (spoiler, they can walk a lot more than mst people think), but letting them do all kinds of tricks like a sit or lay down, are a lot harder on the bones of dogs, than just let them walk. Question, at approx. 6 minutes a website is mentioned, but I can't hear it good enough to find it. Could you share a link with us to this article?
Thank you for your comment! Here is the website that was mentioned: www.galenmyotherapy.com/
@@nordicdogtrainer Takk så mye! Setter pris på tilbakemeldingen.
Also jizzing is stress relief.
...so smooth, calm and easy to understand: We had a caretaker and his dog visiting us for the first time after walk together. The dog-caretaker and me were having a coffee together, letting the dog explore our flat to get familiar. As soon as the visitor unpacked the croissants, Topolino, his dog, was coming upfront and barking at him - a learned behaviour, they live together since over ten years... The caretaker did what he is doing usually: He looked at his dog and got "angry" on him. Topolino barked even more, it was loud, aroused and unpleasant for everybody. So I used the handsignal smoothly, sitting on the table vis-a-vis the dog-owner, to calm it down and to explain to the caretaker. By the very first and smooth apply, Topolino was understanding the hand-signal, lied and calmed down to have even have a good nap at our home, where he was never been before.
Turid says her book on her leash walking technique is outdated, in this interview. But I still think her method with the attention noise and changing direction is a great management tool. Also, the explanations of the damage caused by a tight leash and the different reasons why dogs pull on the leash. Some of the reasons I had never thought of. She looks outside the box and makes people question what they are doing and whether it is respectful to the dog. I am looking forward to her updated version of that book. You have more work to do Turid!! I have all of her books Thank you Turid so much for your innovative approach.

Did you know you breathe air some animals breathe in water tho 🤔
Well duh 🙄
Thank you for sharing
This is one of the dumbest things I have heard in the last 5 mins. Ridiculous. Complete nonsense. Just don't charge at them. That's aggressive behavior. Use a calm voice and slowly walk to them or crouch down to show you mean no harm. If your dog is walking the way this lady says,it's either drunk or stupid. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yes they need dog friends. They are social animals, and they are able to social with human and other kind of animals. It is good to start young, meeting other animals in a calm way. However, let them choose who they want to be with, every dog have different characteristics, and they can choose the dog friend they like, preferably the ones they can act calm around
You're an absolute legend when it comes to your UA-cam videos, mate. I was introduced to your channel this week, and I reckon you're doing a bloody fantastic job. Yeah I've seen your friends walking around with puppies hanging off their nipples.
