I am a retired teacher and I taught kinder for many years. It is the TOUGHEST grade to teach! I stopped teaching kinder after a few years, it was too much. First and Second Grades were my faves.

Cute outfit and classroom! Kindergarten is WAY HARDER than any other grade. I've taught preschool through second grade and I'll never do preschool or kinder again. First grade and above is the best for me! Nobody realizes how tough kindergarten is but they do show the most growth throughout the school year. It's beyond exhausting though at the beginning!

Your classroom looks great! Not sure if kinders can handle desk pets but I'll be interested to see how that works out. Kinder is a tough grade to teach, especially at the beginning of the school year, but it does get better as the year goes on.

I highly recommend a staple gun. It is a game changer!

I would probably avoid stapling certain things because it ruins the longevity of it, especially if it is laminated. Staples in a wall aren’t promising.

Hi Nicole, how do you deal with hallway behaviors ? Like what do you do if a studnet runs in the hallway? Like do you hold their hand if they run or do they just have to walk with you? Also do you have studnet sit right next to you if they are the only one talking loudly or need help focusing? Where do you put them next to you if they do? Please answer third year online college student studying elementary education.

We use the door bells as an actual door bell. Our doors automatically lock when you shut them so these are a must.

You and I are in the same boat sister! I also taught 2nd grade in the 2023-24 school year and am getting moved to kindergarten this year. I am super nervous and very anxious to see my new space. Let me know if you have any tips about kinder, I have never taught kinder :)
