A zero offset paddle. That's cheating.
In North America, this is called the C to C roll. Not as effective as the sweep.
There's no pool anywhere near me that would allow you to do such a thing. Guess Im headed to the cold river with paddle floats. Certainly NOT pool floats.
Work in big creek boats too?
No, because why would you ever use a zero degree offset paddle (like this guy) for creeping?
@@powskier honest question, why would a zero offset paddle be bad for creeking?
This is awesome
Is a forward finishing back deck roll better than finishing on the back in combat? Guess I'm asking what's easier and more reliable, I can do a back deck roll but don't trust it on the river yet.
Great video on how to stern squirt a bigger boat!
Great!! Im from argentine trying to learn freestyle
Yo! these videos are excellent. thank you for the sweet knowledge. it makes play boating way more doable for me
these two antix videos are so helpful. which method is easier in your opinion? I haven't quite gotten the bow vert enough for a stall, but Im not giving up
Your supposed to stay neutral all throughout a cartwheel, if you lean backwards, the boat will want to turn on the horizontal axis, thats why it looks like a splitwheel
Looks more like a splitwheel to me...maybe chage the title...its not a cartwheel
Is this a good transition or um like set up for a cartwheels
Wow that English was terrible
Mate it incredible how you pull off these moves 👏 love the content keep.them coming.
That's a very different initiation into the first end to anything I've seen before. With the pivot on the bow from keeping the blade in the water it looks like you're going to go into a split wheel or a tricky wu. Not a criticism, just an observation that it's a lot different to how I see most cartwheels done.
Yeah it looks more like a split wheel...
Thanks 🙏🏽
Do you want to come to this location on Wednesday evenings from about 5/5:30pm for an hour or so? A few of us throw a ball around and have some fun. Some in polo bats, some in WW creekers & playboats. Usually a few beginners. Informal. Quite chaotic. Friendly attitudes compulsory. New paddlers build their skills by playing so not much formal instruction. Just turn-up with your boat. (I won’t be there Wed 1 Dec 2021 - working late - Jim Fitz).
Hi Jim, I apologize for the delay in replying, thank you very much for your invitation. I am interested to join in. Wed 15th is good for me.
I'm not sure about step 7 "... right blade and ... right knee ... pulling towards each other ..." I think my right blade and right knee are both going in the same direction (to the left). If i need to, i may finish the same way i finish a conventional roll by pulling the right blade away from my right knee. (I can do 'both' types of roll but am no expert.)
Demo is good but please take care not to overextend the shoulder.
Very well explained. Thank you. Will give it a try soon as I'm still struggling with it.
What size is the Antix and what is your body weight ??
Medium Antix, 78kg.
Incredible !! Me I have no chance in this way. Do you have the seat position all to the rear ??
I use the middle of 5 seating positions. It took me 6 months to get it vertical enough to be able to stall it for the first time. During that time I kept refining my ability to balance it vertically using the edge of the pool... so I knew I would be able to hold the stall when I'd finally be able to lift it. In my opinion it's more about slicing the stern than lifting the bow. For me the crux of the move is to reach as far back to the stern as I can, fully submerge that rearward blade and then focus on blade angle. When I get it all right - reach, blade depth, blade angle the stern will slice and it feels almost effortless to lift the boat. Be supersnug in the cockpit, you need to be able to transfer all the force you generate directly into the boat. Being loose in the cockpit disapates the force transfer. Keep training, you will improve. I succeeded with it because I was "comfortably dissatisfied" with failure. Trying and failing - over & over & over (hundreds / thousands of times) is the process. But each session you notice something that improved from last session. I improve everytime I get in a boat, even if it is only spawning a new idea to try.
Such great advice and perspective! I enjoy the channel. Thanks for taking the time. My paddling has improved because of it and I come back and watch the videos multiple times when I'm struggling with something.
Ross River? Under Nathan St Bridge?
That's the one.
Ross River?
Yes.
Is that a 0 deg feather on your blades?
That it is... the only way to fly!
Paddle starts too low and should sweep not dive imo. He is strong in the hip snap which makes it work.
If your hip snap is weak then no roll really works.
You guys call that a screw roll? Interesting. Looks like a a combination of a sweep then into C to C, finishing in a potentially unstable position with that top hand over the edge of the boat! And as mentioned by Melody, paddle is going deep. Are you guys new and just making shit up? Wouldn't be teaching anyone that!
Excellent series, I've been researching playboating tutorials on UA-cam for awhile and these are right at the top. Well done.
What size Antix is this? Great job!
Very similar to c to c.
What's the difference between this and a sweep roll? It looks like a sweep to me but with poor paddle position that puts your both your shoulders in vulnerable positions. It also seems less effective because your paddle dives quite a bit and ends quite vertically in the water. Is there something I'm missing?
It's a hybrid roll, done poorly at that.
First nice slow motion explanation where body movement is visible wery well.
Cheers for the feedback.
Excellent video. Cheers
Thank you very much.
