Closest Islands to Panama City / Where to go out in Panama City / The Beach House Hotel
Переглядів 138Рік тому
Today I visit the 3 islands close to my hotel, The Beach House. It is located a few minutes from San Felipe, and the islands are connected via Avenida Amador. Each island has their specialty, of which Isla Perico is the most interesting. At Isla Perico you will find the nightlife where many Panamanians go during the weekend. Flamenco Island is where you need to be for the port from which the Ta...

      Usually you pay for the room. If I where you, just say you might have a visitor later on the day and see how they respond to that. I don't think they'll charge you, but might say, when they sleep over, you need to pay a supplement. I hope that helped a bit. ☺️

    Good video. I was born in Belgium but have lived in the US for over 25 years now. I lost my citizenship but the consulate people told me that I can get my EU citizenship back if I come and live in Belgium for a full year uninterrupted... My question to you is; if I was to live there and trade stocks like I do here how would the government tax that? Thx in advance for your response. G.

    • @LostTravellers
      @LostTravellers Рік тому

      I do know that trade stocks are taxed through a 'cost' you pay to the government at the moment you buy them (so not on the once you already own) and what you earn from (ALL, so, the 'older' once included) those stocks will be considered as an income, where you will need to pay taxes for (if you reach certain minima). Whatever you earn (stocks, business and what not) will be taxed. But I am in no way a specialist, and you'd better get in touch with a specilaist to know exactly.

    Just by chance I landed here. Actually I was looking for the 'Friendly Fire' event that happened April 5th, 1943 in the nearby town of...Mortsel, Belgium. On that day...their...'Day of Remembrance' their town got 245 tons of US Bombs dropped on them {by mistake} & they lost 936 of their CITIZENS. 209 of the dead were children under the age of 15. Antwerp...is only a 'blocking event' to cover-up what happened in the neighboring town of Mortsel. Have a good journey

    • @LostTravellers
      @LostTravellers Рік тому

      The story you tell is very easy to find in history and there are days when all the fallen are remembered. Nothing is "blocked or hidden" at all. One memory day does not necessarily imply another memory. Here, the war was brought back to memory through decors and storytellers. I am convinced that your story was certainly covered by at least a few storytellers on this day. Not only do we have to remember those fallen, but even more the Americans who caused this (greatest) "friendly fire" day of disaster themselves! Where is their day of remembrance for our victims? 😏

      @@LostTravellers - I really do appreciate your reply. I will start with the 1st part of your 1st sentence. "The story you tell is very easy to find in history..." Well...I reside in America...and...obviously you do not. My point, until yesterday...I had NEVER heard of Mortsel & the 'Friendly Fire' event. That information may surprise you...but...many people here in the States are just now coming to realize exactly 'how bad' the truth has been censored from our 'Home Of The Free' reality!!! With that being said...with respect...I stand down and will agree with you...regarding the importance of remembering...The Fallen. All of them. With a heavy heart I say...bye-4-now. Thank you - Rx

    No medical insurance cost. How much is that

    • @LostTravellers

      That greatly depends on what you want to spend on insurance and what needs to be included, but is starts around a $50 /per month. Still, for people with a bigger income (like people that retire, from the US or other rich countries), Panama is very affordable, even when you don't have e medical insurance and do not need to be at a hospital all the time (for treatment, therapy or whatever).

    Is it realistic with a budget of $1,000 USD to live in Panama comfortable? By the way, I'm 70 y/o and live in the US, and even though I'm planning to retire in Spain at the age of 72, I'd like to have Panama as plan B. The reason I can't start right now is that my wife won't be able to retire until June 2024, and I hope to live past age 72. Thank you for your video. 🤔

    • @LostTravellers
      @LostTravellers Рік тому

      Hi! The video was recorded during the Corona crisis and I note that prices of hotels and Airbnb locations are no longer representative for today. I suspect that these cheaper rates are due to the lack of tourism during the Corona crisis. You should also keep in mind that the video does not talk about health insurance, doctor visits, a car and car insurance for example. Living on 1000$ is doable, but I don't think it can be sustained, because there is no room for an extra like a trip or the like. You have to add 30% more budget to be able to live there today in a (economical) comfortable way. If you still have family in your home country, you will probably also want to return regularly, for the family or perhaps important hospitalization that you prefer to do in your home country. Those are also things that are not included in the video.The video will connect much more with travel nomads who do their work digitally and want to live there temporarily, but for a longer period.

    Very disappointed in the lack of video coverage of the islands themselves. Would have liked to have seen more of Flamenco island rather than just the dock basin. I was stationed in Panama while in the Army from 11/69 to 1/72 and for the first five months, I lived on Flamenco before transferring to Ft. Clayton. Really cool island, our rooms were along the front wall on the causeway side and every morning we would walk the tunnel to the center of the island and take the elevator to the top where all our communications vehicles were parked and do our military chores. There were also two levels before the top which led off to tunnels that went to each side of the island which ended up in bunkers which used to house the canons used to fortify the island. The first island was an officers beach with a protective shark screen to protect the swimmers and there was a beach house there too. The second island was just jungle. None of those islands, along with the causeway, were developed like they are today and that's why nothing in the video was recognizable. Someday I'll get back to Panama.

    One of the many problems no one addresses is the Panamanian currency. Although Panama has its own currency (the Balboa), however, Panama also uses the U.S. dollar. The Balboa to U.S. dollar exchange rate is 1-to-1, which doesn't make since when it comes to GDP. The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Panama was worth 52.94 billion US dollars in 2020. Compare that to the U.S. GDP in 2020 at $20.93 trillion. So how did the 1-to-1 exchange rate balance off? Someone with subject matter expertise in economy explain this...I am not convinced that Panama is the best or most beneficial place to retire. Healthcare and medical services outside of Panama City is horrible. DO NOT expect hospitals outside of Panama City to have the same quality.

      It's clear you have no clue of Panama at all and you never visited it. Whatever you're explaining doesn't make any sens at all. The Balbao is just coins, nothing fancy or actually worth talking about it. The use the dollar 'cause that has a lot to do with historie as well. Serious, you Americans are going to tell the world you have the best healthcare system? Did you ever visit any country outside the US? Have an opinion based on experience instead of the blablabla you've been put in your mouth.

      @Rombat no clue of what you are talking about. 🤷 Never said US med care was the worst, just saying it's crazy expensive. I'm from Belgium where we don't have those crazy med care prices like in the US. Still what is 'Oh change your Balboa's for Dollars' thing about? lol ... BTW many Americans retire in Panama with the main reason Health Care is much more affordable.

      You need to consider population/GDP US is 335.0e6 population vs $27.36e12. Which derives a factor of: $81,600 USD value per person Panama is 4.47e6 population vs 83.40e9 which derives a factor of: $18,650 USD value per person. Simply you made sense but however: Now if you watch the video, he is explaining a comfortable lifestyle is about 8x cheaper there. Let’s go with 8x (outsource income) So now you have to multiply $18,650 USD(Pa) value by a factor of 8. Which brings comparing Panama to a total value per person factor of $149,200 (USD(Pa)) value per person While the US is solid state sitting at $81,600 (USD(US)) value per person Just with your math there is already a 1.83x multiplier in value per labor /also in commerce per person, (insource income) that is not in your favour of this argument. Then there is also the federal debt to consider. Also there is the geometric progression of wealth distribution to consider. Also here is an example I am familiar with regarding his video: In Canada I’ll make around 10-14 bucks CAD for 1 average Uber trip including tip. In Panama it sounds like I’ll make around 3.10 USD or something including tip for example. Which if you multiply by his experiences in the video and factor for the 8x dollar value multiplier in value that comes out to $24.80 USD ($33.48 CAD) value vs the say $13.50 CAD (outsourcing) hypothetically value I get here in Canada. That is a factor of 2.47x in value in Panama vs Canada comparatively, which is close- and matches up enough to the 1.83x US vs Panama value multiplier I explained earlier However if I made 13.50 CAD and BRING it into Panama that is worth the 8x multiplier so $108 (CAD) in Panama as if I were living here in Canada Working there and living there is significantly less multiplier in value, but it’s almost double the USA. but bringing wealth in, is better. For now. (Which eventually will lower that said outsource income multiplier of currently 8x if everyone does it) but Panama maintains a better government and has a 1.83x better value per insource income and spending. This is how it is now as I see it and it may last it may not. Just like the 60s 70s and 80s in the USA So look at more than just the orders of magnitude of GDP
