I’d love to have 4 screen for 3 then pop/roll to the block just to keep that weak side defense occupied

On paper seems unrealistic because there's no way 1's gonna get to the 45 with all that defense closing down the lane and no incentive to go out to defend the perimeter while 1's taking a long way just for an ez LU to the basket or a pull up "J" at mid post? And 2 be better on the w/side corner to spot up if 1 can't take to the hoop.

In the end 4 can not go to 45*, because than he doesn't help in the corner, where is better bas from 5/2

2-Guard all by himself in the weakside corner as a FLOOR SPACER if it's my team

Lol. Coached for over 20 years aau high school varsity and at mens military. Stop teaching the youth wrong. Every good coach knows you cant trap in open space. Good ball handlers will kill you. Might work at the developmental level but then your coaching to win something that will never happen as the higher level. Prepare these kids ro play with sound fundamentals.

don't understand why #2 has to start on the far side if the goal is to run him to the opposite side. Why can't #2 just stay as part of the stack?

I really enjoy the diagrams on the chalkboard, but on some of the more complex offenses, or when you have time, could you add a live video example after the diagram. Played a team in our aau semi finals tournament that play this, not a good defense tbh , it’s very dependent on the offense having 2 bugs that don’t move from the post. As soon as a big learns to pop High post this defense virtually gives away points

Overhelping can really plague teams. This is awesome for helping a team recognize and read those situations. Also gets offense to not settle because they know they have the advantage.

While this is simple and may work against players with poor defensive awareness, a skilled defender will not pop on the weakside guy (in this case the 2) cutting out to the 3pt line and will stay home, leaving the middle still well guarded from both cross cutters. That weakside pass is a long pass and the defender would have plenty of time to recover if the inbounded does (try to) make that pass

… but from the start, if ur 4 & 5 are already inside the defenders, that’s a bullet or lob pass to the inside for a layup

Run for to weak side box and 5 to strong side, the center is going to help until the screened player get there - the weak side defender low will shade so u need for to get under him and seal for a layup or at least occupy him so he can’t switch to 5 when 3 goes to rim and defending center has to challenge - leaving 5 open - but he must seal underneath as ball side post will try to slide down off of 2.

Ran this back in 2001-2002 season and it legit creates havoc for the opposing team. We didn’t run it too often, but when we did, man, we could stuff the stat sheet with steals and assists due to fast breaks.
