Thanks for the videos. Today I got the opportunity to fly untimely River. Your videos were very helpful.
There’s a video posted by the airport on how to do the approach, steeper approach appears to provide much better visibility of the runway.
I was definitely a little low this time due to being disoriented allowing departing traffic, however if you go high enough so see a "straight in" you can't slow down. My following trips were a little higher, closer to the 1000' entry
@@davidfarmerracing Not that I would even try to land there! But if you haven't seen it, I really recommend the instructional video posted by the airport. It's old fashioned "road map" navigation -- a combination of man-made landmarks and recognition of the pattern made by the mountains between entry into final and landing provide a sort of visual glide slope. Even with their recommended approach, the runway doesn't come into sight until several hundred feet about the runway and maybe a half mile away. Even though I don't fly anymore, it was fun to study the video.

Which engine do you have? Been into Boone a number of times with a V35. It is sporty on the way out, a bit of a pucker factor, especially as you don't hit 70 until quite a way down the runway. I find the departure a bit more interesting than the landing, although the landing is definitely short for most planes, with the trees, buildings and power lines.
IO470k. No reason to rush the departure as long as you make the trees
Nice video. Thank you for flying relief efforts. NC06 is a bucket list airport for me to fly into. So glad they opened it up so that relief could fly into there. The instrumentation on the bottom of the video is cool! Although the altimeter seemed to not be correct.

I meant to comment on your last N06 video but that valley is a little nerve wracking. I think I've commented on your video (one of your Boone videos) saying, while my daughter attends App, I will opt for Wilkesboro or Ashe County. I grew up in West Virginia and Wilmington, NC but all my flying is as a flat lander and a low winger - so in my eyes you're a hero for the landing and the relief mission. I think all I could bring are diapers in my PA28-140. Keep up the good work.
Boone is tougher I think than Banner Elk...very narrow with tall trees. Finding Banner Elk is the hard part

How do you add the groundspeed, heading, and Altitude to your video's?
so I export the GPX from Foreflight and build a Greenscreen overlay using Dashware. Then I put the greenscreen overlay on top of my normal video, then Chroma-key the green out. It sounds complicated but once you put a little time in you can do it quickly
I can make a how-to if it would help. You need editing software that can do chroma-key. I use Vegas Movie Studio (14)
