August Snakeheads

Snakehead activity has picked up. It still requires a lot of patience. The weather was overcast and rainy off and on for a number of days. The fish were still somewhat active to my topwater frog. Quite a bit of the hits I had were from juvenile Snakeheads. Anyway I was happy to land some decent size Snakehead though I'm still patiently waiting for a Dragon. Hope you enjoy the video. Keep it Fis...

Fishing for Snakehead in a body of water that appears its on the tail end of spawning showed some encouraging signs with alot more fish activity. encountered multiple strikes using topwater frogs and was able to land some. Hope you enjoy. Keep it Fishing!!

Snakehead are magicians at getting off the hook. Very frustrating when the bites are slow, but very gratifying when you get a good hookset and are able to land them! Keep it Fishing!!

The fishing doesn't stop just because its Winter. While trying to take advantage of a mild winter day fishing for the still active Blue Catfish, I caught and landed a Rockfish of a lifetime. The fish was my personal best weighing 50lb or more. Hope you all can understand my excitement catching this monster. Hope you enjoy. Keep It Fishing!!

    Why would you keep that? Meat's pretty nasty on a fish that big. Asians use it at their restaurants.

      I gave it to a neighbor who loves Catfish. They said it was very good in taste. I guess the way they seasoned and prepared it made a difference. I agree, I wouldn't eat catfish that big.

      I found it good to move around. Most of the fish are near the shoreline and utilize cover to ambush. So moving around the lake is key.

    You okay with snakehead being invasive? Also, why not fillet it for dinner?

    • @FishingwithFidel
      @FishingwithFidel 9 місяців тому

      Hey Nolan. What I have seen in fishing for them is that the native habitat hasnt been decimated by their presence. They coexist with other species of fish, including frogs. Snakeheads are now on the radar of many fisherman, so its become increasingly difficult to fish for them. If i catch and release, its in hopes that when I fish again, I can catch them again. When I have an appetite for them on the dinner and the patience to prepare them, mot certainly, I'll keep some of what I catch to harvest. Thx for your comment. Much appreciated.

    a lot of people dont understand that there is a method to fishing heavy fished areas next to other fishermen. i fish my dam when the water is on for stripers and we all cast in synchronicity and rel the same, you have to be a set distance apart as well. its not for everyone and anyone who hates fishing around others should try and afford a sit on top or boat for these time
