I’ll bite back on Paul talking about Houston 1. Collingwood had 9 players recruited from other clubs play in their premiership last year. Including their 3 best on the day (Bobby Hill, Howe and Crisp). Frampton, Mitchell and Cameron also played key roles on the day too. Recruiting is as good of a skill as you can have in an AFL environment. This idea that it’s purely drafting and development that gets improvement is nonsense. 2. Fans can’t say our development is awful, then crack the shits if we get Houston. Cause if it’s that bad, then getting in established talent is the way to go 3. Sydney have so many drafted players cause of their academy. They picked up top 3 draft talents just about every year while they were making grand finals and winning premierships. They don’t need to recruit as heavily because of the concessions they’ve been given with their academy. Brisbane similar too with Ashcroft coming in and being a match winner in their last 2 finals 4. There’s no guarantee a player drafted with a mid first round pick is going to become anything. At least with Houston, he’s an established commodity that you can plug in straight away. You’ve seen with Sydney that Chad Warner has become a star with a pick in the late 30’s. What people don’t realise is that Sydney drafted 4 players before him, none of whom are still on the list. Even for the best clubs, drafting is still a roll of the dice

Thank goodness Paul brings us back to reality @1:02:50. The Club is having a big End-of-Season Sale on Hope. It's been bugging me since the loss to Brisbane. Two weeks ago everyone was angry about how the Club is always selling hope, "Next year for sure," etc. This community was having none of it. But they feed Cleary the story about telling Kennedy and Owies to get on their bike, and drop rumors about Houston and Haynes, and suddenly everyone is like, "Hell, yeah, that's what we're talking about! Be ruthless, get rid of these guys and bring in those other two and we'll be swimming in flags." And of course it's largely the same people who were demanding a couple years ago that Paddy Dow be given a chance to fight for his spot, shame on the Club for being ruthless. And so convenient for the front office now that nobody is asking the big question that sits above all the rest of this. The rest of Paul's sermon on how this all should work organically instead of trying the American baseball or more recently the NBA way is 1000% correct. Even if it does work, the American churn and burn method is usually good for only one year and then you start over anyway. And at the risk of repeating myself, all this list management talk allows us to avoid discussing the big question hanging above all this that must be answered or all of it is a waste of time. Rocco says this other stuff won't fix the problem, and I suggest that's why. So I suppose the Club will keep the IV drip coming as long as possible. The club is in good condition financially, on the face of it, with thanks to the members, sponsors, AFL, white knights (Pokies and Recycling cash) and near 0% interest rates, to wipe out our debt. We are now captured by proxies of the aforementioned cliques and the AFL. We are homeless without a genuine home ground advantage. A great majority of MCG games are needed. Princess park is a pipe dream in the short to medium term, sadly. There is a watch on exit meetings, a review, and the Annual General Meeting. Has the focus of the club shifted from winning flags and having an ongoing concern? Has the focus skewed to side hustles, jobs for the boys, and fighting personal litigation? Has the change in constitution (vetting of board candidates) created a disastrous echo chamber? Will you appoint an independent external review with open terms of reference? Are you willing to accept the drop in financial support from members and sponsors should you choose yet another internal review and perennial rebuilds, without a genuine tilt at a flag?

Do you actually know what specific coaching decisions Voss made at any point? Aside from giving Williams a chance forward, what can we say for sure? We can see him discussing all sorts of things with players, especially Cripps, while they're taking a rest, but what strategic, big picture decisions can you say Voss made? Including selection. Maybe not much if they can just sub him out and put him in time out up in the box. Serious questions need to be asked about this whole situation before I even want to hear about player movement.

Just a humble tip for Big V re interviewing... you've got a gem there in Rhys, his understanding of the game is elite and his opinions and reading of the game and players is really valuable. So, the tip is, when you ask a question just allow Rhys to answer it without talking over the top of him with suggested options/responses. If you watch the very experienced interviewers they interject as little as possible. Just a humble suggestion. Ripper show.

Confidence is infectious, and so is fear. Problem is the blues players seem to be mentally weak and can't overcome their fears. The fumbling, dropped marks, missed handballs and kicks are all a symptom of the fear. No game plan will fix that.

My cousin and I grab a coffee and walk out .. sit on the wooden tables and not more than 20 mins in we’re told to leave. Rocco's Rant is correct about who is really stronger together and who isn't. Paul is correct about the poor culture manifested in what they did to Kennedy, and dropping Cincotta. As for confidence and the coach and even the picks: who is really in charge? They subbed out Voss! Hansen is down there strutting around with a headset on, but who is he talking to? Voss was up in the box sulking like he'd been put in time out, no headset. Who is in charge, really? Who has made the series of disastrous decisions that crashed the team from 2nd to falling over backwards into 8th? Injuries aside, I mean, but the decline started before that. Culture? Trust? Stronger what now? On what planet is it acceptable to make laughable and disconnected decisions going into the game, then sub out your head coach, and then expect players to give two @#$%s when he gives them a spray afterwards?
