O Scale Coal Load: Make the plastic look way better
Although many o-scale coal hoppers come with a plastic coal load, many times these aren't as realistic as we would like. The same goes for coal tenders on more entry level or older style locomotives. I offer here a DIY, easy, low-cost enhancement of the plastic coal detail. Have fun!

Lionel Southern Freight Set with Legacy GP-7
Переглядів 2,2 тис.2 роки тому
Simple review and running of the Lionel Southern Freight Set (2122030). Pardon the length of the video, but I do discuss all parts of the set and some extra cars I added from the same catalog. There is considerable content where I'm just running the train. To be honest, used the opportunity to test some camera angles and editing tools. Hope you enjoy! Always appreciate "Likes" and subscribers. ...
Piedmont Central Railroad Visits Tweetsie Railroad
Переглядів 7 тис.2 роки тому
Took the family to Tweetsie Railroad. Great example of a steam powered locomotive. I didn't film the live show. It was ok, but I got the feeling the actors were improvising much of it. This video is really just a sampling and I focus almost entirely on the train. Other rides are available and included in admission. There is a bit of the petting zoo at the end of the video. Forgive me on that, t...
Lionel Legacy Base: Can It Control Independent Tracks?

Finding Sasquatch: Train Table game with my two youngest kids.
Переглядів 2402 роки тому
I built my table as a way to connect with my kids. My son loves trains, but my daughters enjoy the table as well. I bought an Arttista Sasquatch figure and I hide it different places on the table. This video is not super well made or organized, it's just some fun with my two youngest. I apologize for some jerky camera work. Excuse the mess in the train room; it started as a storage area and sti...

Comparison: Lionel Lionchief Plus 2.0 and Legacy Steam Locomotives

Direct comparison of two separate tiers of Lionel locomotives. Each has unique qualities, and although the Legacy is a higher, more expensive tier with greater options, the Lionchief Plus 2.0 can be a great, more cost-effective alternative.
4x8 O-gauge layout video tour

Debut of my o-gauge layout (actual size 4'7"x8') that I have been building since January, 2020. It did not begin as a Covid project, but quickly became one. This is a video tour with no commentary so you can just experience the table as if you were here in person. If there is interest, I would like to create further videos with commentary explaining the creation and motivation of the table and ...

How were you able to do a cab ride I would like to do that
@PeytonC09 It is first come, first serve at NCTM for every train ride they do. I've been going there for years and had no idea! I think it was an additional $25-$50 or so for the cab ride (for the two of us). They usually have 2-3 rides per day, so if you miss out on one, you can reserve another. Reservations are only for that day, and you must be present to reserve it. I hope you get the chance! It really was a special day.
@@PiedmontCentralRailroad thanks for the info

@@DeyalBahe Unbeknownst to me, my phone had stopped when he went through that sequence when we first started, so I was sure to catch it there.

I need to renew my membership with NCTM. I sat in the cab of 6133 and 6910 back in 2014. The “Streamliners at Spencer” was spectacular that year. 6133 and her sisters were lettered for my part of SOU: the CNO&TP Kentucky Division.

Cool cab ride, dude. I wish I could do that, too. But that is just some awesome stuff there! Read more
Engineer Johns seems like a really cool nice guy. Best of luck to you sir.
@ROCKSTAR13133 Thanks! Very cool...very nice.
@@PiedmontCentralRailroad you’re welcome! Have a great day🙂
Amazing use of space for this size layout. Love the larger layouts but I expect most of us have to use smaller spaces and it's fun to see how other people do it.
@crowznest438 thank you for watching! I will freely admit that I wish I had built a bigger table, but this was a wonderful learning experience.
Nothing sounds better than a Crosby 3 chime train horn... Quilling is hard to do and doesn't sounds as nice with those diesel train horns
Wonderful layout, such a creative use of space!

That is an awesome place, and I love how they are keeping old iron like these and steam alive.
they should build more track!
No truer words have ever been said. NS owns all the track around them and I have heard a rumor that building track costs 1 million per mile.
Just awesome!!
If I can ask why did the enginemen leave his seat? If there was a safety control foot pedal the train would've stopped. 😕
Can you tell me what minute on the video that happened? I do not recall at any point when we were actually moving that he left his seat. There was a point where we switched back to forward from reverse...it may have been then, but we were at a full stop.
@@PiedmontCentralRailroad it's at 24:19. The locomotive was moving in reverse.
You are right! I wish I knew the specifics, but I think there is something back there he needs to do when changing direction. As you are a real engineer, I'm sure you know more than I do about these things. I do know there is a crew member in the caboose with a radio when moving backwards so not completely blind to pending issues on track. I do remember now wanting to ask what he did back there but needed to respect the instructions not to talk to him while operating
At minute 19 he didn't have to go to back when going from forward to backward so that throws off my whole theory.😄
@@PiedmontCentralRailroad I'm no certified enginenmen. But yeah, it's sort of a head scratcher on why he got up from his seat. If there was an emergency, a few seconds like that could be catastrophic. That's the first time I've ever seen an engineer get up from his seat to go back to the engine compartment while the locomotive was in motion. I was just very surprised to see that. 😮
Very nice, good track plan, great scenery, and I like the passenger car interiors!
Engineer John, making memories to last a life time. I worked with John a few days ago. Indeed a great fellow, one of the many awesome folks who keep history alive. I work with the train crew as conductor and brakeman. Thank you for sharing this great video with us. Come back and visit us again soon!
Thank you and thanks for all that you do! All of you at the NCTM are pretty special folks. We are so blessed that you are preserving this history.
I run a GP7, GP10 and a 1920 060 coal fired steam engine at the HVSY in Nelsonville Ohio and it's a blast
I will have to check that out!
I paid for a cab ride on the Royal Gorge Route RR circa 2005. I forget the exact model, but an F7 I believe. Exciting. I was saddened by the death of a conductor many years later.

Is there a track useage plan available for this please?
Amazing detail
Great layout! what kind of track you used, fastrack or other
It's fastrack. I just modified it with WS large ballast and rail rusting.
For a 4x8 size layout looks alot then most bigger layouts everything is laid out so tastefully and organized with all that cool stuff like the structures and what not it's not to busy looking or crowded it's just a very very nicely detailed layout for only 4x8 very beautiful my kind sir Love it just love it I'm just amazed and in ah how Awesome this layout really is I can't say enough but Very Very NICE!!!
