Brutal & Humiliating • A History of Angel Island AAPI month

For AAPI month, we visited Angel Island to learn a little more about all that's happened here throughout history. And spoiler alert, it's not all good stuff. In fact, MOST of it is bad. Angel Island processed 100's of thousands of Asian immigrants, and detainees often described their treatment here as brutal, humiliating, and indecent. Content Warning: There are some pretty heavy themes in this...

Я живу только ради мечты иметь любимого питомца Выдру🥰🥰🥰 это единственное что держит меня в этой жизни 😢
Thank you so much for watching!
It’s good. Worth a visit for sure
Definitely! And thanks for watching!
I'm not vegan or even vegetarian, but I'm definitely trying this place next time I'm in the city. Looks killer.
Right? Don’t have to be vegan to enjoy vegan food.
Looks interesting for fast food, but needs more facilities
Facilities? More locations? That would be awesome! Though maybe it’s best we can’t go there all the time hahaha
Vegetarian
Yes! And pretty dang good too!
subbing to likely unsub later when I see the bad not vegan video....unless!! always love watching people enjoy this place, and I look forward to trying it. they should have vegan ice cream to round out the experience!!
Oh that’s a great idea! And their ice cream machine will probably actually work! Lol
Always wanted to try this! Had no idea about their SF location, so it looks like I may get my chance sooner than I thought
Highly recommended! We’ll have to make a trip back there ourselves sometime soon. It’s impressive how good the food is.
@@WildlifeHotel it looked a little expensive for what it was but as a vegetarian i'd love to go at least once just for the novelty of it
Ahh yeah it does look like their prices went up a bit since making this video. That’s sad :(.
@@WildlifeHotel an all too familiar vegetarian struggle
Yeah…but hopefully as plant based options become more popular they will get cheaper.
Mr Charlies interest me
It’s really good! Couldn’t even tell it was plant based meat
Really enjoyed this video and wanted to tell you guys to keep it up. Also, by “mystical” I think you meant expensive. San Jose is very expensive.
Thank you for watching! And thank you for your kind words! Annnnd yeah haha. Mystical. Expensive. Probably the same thing in this case.
Time for a reupload! I MAAAYYY have accidentally deleted the wrong video when working on our new video...
Thanks for the video! Is 30mins stay enough? Or 1 hr better? Thanks!
Eric would say 30 minutes was perfect Geoff would stay all day if he could 1 hour could potentially be a lot, but if you really like cuddling with small pigs, we say go for it! I mean how often do you get the chance?
@@WildlifeHotel thanks for your information 😊
Happy to help!
Thank you for this video, the piglets are very cute and also clever 😊!!!
They are very smart! And not at all shy haha. Thanks for watching!
Noted! thanks for sharing these cuties pie 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you for watching!
Aw~
They were all so cute!
There's someone I'd totally wanna do this with! ❤️🔥
Hopefully you get a chance to soon!
Lets see... Who's at Kyoto? Bob, Namida and Wasabi. Also Okayu and Komugi, I think? Wasabi and Namida are twins, and their mother (Otsuyu) is also a twin. Her sister, Odashi, is Komugi's girlfriend. 😊
We definitely met Bob and Wasabi, possibly Namida, but it’s hard to know for sure who all we met given how fast they all moved. Seems like everyone knows the otters way more than we do haha! Thanks for stopping by!
Odashi for the win.
They were so energetic it was hard to keep track of them all! It’s so wonderful to know that everyone knows the names of each otter!
If this is as recent as it looks, then Odashi wasn't there. The one who rolls over and drinks lying on her back is Odashi's niece, Namida, who learned it from Odashi. Odashi and Otsuyu are still bringing up the quadruplets at home, but I believe they will be moving to Loutre's in progress third location.
The name Namida does sound familiar. That’s probably who we met then. Thanks for the help! We had no idea everyone followed the otters so closely!
Namida is Wasabi's twin sister and Bob's mate. They're all wonderful, aren't they? 😊 Someday I hope to see them in person.
We highly recommend it if you can! It was a wonderful experience.
Thank you for being responsible and making sure that the otters are kept in a healthy and suitable way! It's so important. I have watched Loutre for several years now and I am satisfied that they give their otters great love and care. They are also legally acquired or else born there (important because the wild caught trade is both illegal and horrible). Loutre's places are the only otter cafes I would visit - I'm very glad that you made a careful choice and thank you for sharing! Happy otter love <3
Ethical care of animals is SO important to us, and we wouldn’t have posted the video if we felt they were mistreated. We’re so glad to hear other people feel the same way!
All the Loutre fans (like me!) asking which otters they played with, lol
I recognised Bob in the tank for sure :D
We know we saw Bob and Wasabi, but we’re unsure about the rest. They were all so energetic it was hard to keep track of them all haha! I’m so happy to know that each other has their own fans!
I saw Bob's chonky tail as the narrator mentionned the word "Majestic "
Yeah, fluffy Bob was on a spotlight😄
We’ve identified Bob and Namida! Maybe we can figure out the others with all the clues you all gave given us
Who was the Otter you played with?
We meet so many it was hard to keep track of. Especially because they moved around so much! We know we meet Bob and Wasabi, but we’re not sure about the rest.
Wish I have the chance to visit Loutre. Did u get the chance to meet otter Wasabi & Namida?😊
We know we met Bob and Wasabi, but they were so energetic it was hard to keep track of them all!
あげもわっぴもなみちゃんも出てる~✨ 海外のお友達も沢山来てくれたら嬉しいですね😊
Wow! It’s impressive to see so many people who recognize the otters just from the video! We met so many otters that day, and it was hard to keep track of them all!
O MY WORD
An amazing time! Those little guys had SO MUCH energy!
One day I wanna do a roam of Japan. Probably with friends who have an idea of good places to go check out. Hope you guys have another grand adventure in Japan soon.
Us too! We want to go back so bad!
You guys did a great job at showing us around the Park. I enjoy the awkward comedy that you threw in there, as well. The symbol at 8:45 is the Seal of our Founder.
And we stepped all over it! Oh no! We’re happy to hear you enjoyed the video! Thank you for stopping by!
The Rosicrucians possess the same knowledge as Jesus, Buddha, Muhammad, the Freemasons, Hermeticists and the highest levels of the Catholic Church. In the most simple terms they know how to pray effectively so their desire becomes reality. If you look deep into alchemy, ancient Egyptian symbolism, or Rosicrucianism you will find strange and wildly different images and symbols but none of it is particularly necessary other than knowledge of it. One knowledgeable person in a loin cloth can teach thousands of others with them never having seen any of it. It is all 100% mind over matter.
The Rosicrucians are a fascinating group as was their museum, and we only scratched the surface in this video. Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts with us!
really thought this was a channel with thousands of subscribers, you guys definitely deserve more
Oh thank you! We’ve been working really hard to make our videos as good as they can be! You just made our day! Glad you enjoyed the video!
I didn't expect it to look that good honestly. Gotta try it!
We still don’t know how they made it look so real. That cheese was something else!
I think that's the bakery I keep hearing about, gotta try it sometime.
You’ll have to let us know when you do!
If the government truly cared for us they would give every citizen a bread hoodie but we know the deal.
Maybe one day! If only we had the foresight to get one before they really take off. Coulda been bread hoodie hipsters!
The shot of the pagoda standing over the trees at 2:46 is awesome
It’s in there so long for a reason. The views here are incredible!
Cool place but those crowds would destroy my humanity
It was tough beating the end of our trip, but Japan does crowds so well. It’s daunting to look at, but not nearly as bad as it looks.
Every video I get more and more confused on why Eric has boxing gloves on punching a cylinder thing while a T-Rex roars at him, and is Sonic in the mix? Don't know, but keep uploading videos and one day I will solve this mystery.
One day we might reveal the answer!
I would do a heelclicker right on that glass floor
Can’t wait to see it happen!
Never even heard of this, how amazing. I love views so this is definitely on my list if I ever make it to Japan.
We couldn’t recommend Japan more! It was life changing. And the Skytree was a great place to get some perspective.
Glazed rice cakes 🤤
They were so good!
Man it looks so cool... what a beautiful place. The gold leaf is a little gaudy though haha
It’s a statement for sure haha. Looks unreal in person!
hmmm,... how to say this ... if you want to get away from foreign tourists just go to Monzen-Nakacho or Yanaka Ginza or (no joke) to completely get away from foreigners go to any museum in Tokyo exhibiting Western art.
Thank you for the tips! Crowds aren’t usually a problem for us. We’ve come to expect them living in California, but it’s nice to get away from them every once in a while. Yanaka Ginza looks really cool! We’ll have to add it to our list for our next visit to Japan! Thanks for watching!
@@WildlifeHotel The nearby cemetery is the largest in Tokyo and has the graves of really interesting people like Shibusawa Eiichi
Wow it looks beautiful! We’ll have to add that to the list too. Looks like a lot of very important people were buried there.
@@WildlifeHotel you're so right,... um,... the last shogun is buried here but the grave is gated off ... you can see but you can't enter ...
That’s understandable! Thanks again for all the ideas!
hi i am from bangladesh love to see you two
Welcome! So glad you enjoy our videos!
W
Thanks for the watch!
I remember standing on the rotating glass floor of the Space Needle and feeling slightly uneasy. I cant imagine the slow panic that would set in for a building 4 times as tall. I don't think it'll stop me from checking it out anyway. Plus those stores below all look fun.
Tokyo Skytree was a ton of fun! And there’s plenty of space to back away from the windows if you need to take a breath!
I just want to see the atom bomb museum.
We didn’t make it to Nagasaki I’m afraid, but Japan was so amazing we’re making it a point to go back some time. Maybe we’ll catch that one on the next trip! Thanks for watching!
Join us as in the full video as we adventure to Kinkakuji in Kyoto, Japan! ua-cam.com/video/QwO6uCKETgE/v-deo.html
Always a great place to visit!
We might have to go back sometime!
Good ending, it was funny
Thank you!
I took the kids a few months ago. I thought it was neat. It was odd to know that there were dead humans just on display, its morbid.
Yeah. We debated leaving those in the video, but ultimately, we wanted to show everyone what they were in for if they decided to go.
Go to the British museum. All kinds of dead people there.
If we’re ever in the area we’ll have to check it out!
There are mummies on display in hundreds, if not thousands of museums around the world. Some people would argue those people wanted to be preserved, their bodies kept safe from decay and destruction, and they wanted to be remembered. It looks to me like this is a respectful display that keeps the body safely preserved just as that person wanted.
Yeah it was for sure respected. Just a bit of a shock for people who aren’t expecting it. I think it’s probably even a bigger shock for people in the US.
I don't know, I think that the small one might be the baby tho
Right? Something tells me that it just might be…
This is definitely one of the coolest places ever. That spiral staircase is amazing.
We had an amazing time! Only got vertigo once!
Dang, they put E-40's skull on the wall?
Something like that
Those bug eyed fish are a bunch of idiots
I've actually never gone to the roof here. I have only visited this new version of the museum once and was underwhelmed, but I may have just been a cranky old man because I miss the old version I grew up with.
Hopefully our video swayed you a little bit! We had an amazing time, but neither of us are familiar with the old layout. That Daveed Diggs narration though!
@@WildlifeHotel old version had a more extensive aquarium and more of the neoclassical architecture. Also had a huge hall of dioramas of Native Americans and early history of the continent. The hall of animals was much more extensive as well unless that's just my memory since I was a kid but I think it was multiple halls and not just the one they left.
Sounds like they made some things smaller to make room for others. Wish we could have seen it like that!
