Region 8 CC Presents: Mentoring for Diversity Webinar
Does your system have a one size fits all mentoring approach? Are your mentors trained in being culturally responsive mentors? Check out the Mentoring for Diversity webinar. During this webinar, participants were provided with tools to analyze their own mentoring program and receive tools to help shift their mentoring program to a culturally responsive program. The Region 8 Comprehensive Center revealed the three new online modules that focus on understanding the importance of teacher diversity and challenges teachers from underrepresented backgrounds face (Module #1), learn about strategies for culturally responsive mentoring (Module #2), and explore culturally responsive mentoring in practice (Module #3). Participants also learned more about the Mentoring for Diversity: A Conversation Guide resource, which is intended to help mentors better understand their role in supporting new teachers with identifying that are underrepresented to teachers of Color, teachers who identify as LGBTQ+, teachers from low-income backgrounds and teachers entering the profession through nontraditional routes.
