habituation is a kind of learning that affects behaviour - when repeated stimulus lessens behavioural response. Like when somebody is spoiled - they are less interested in receiving gifts, for example. Sensory adaptation is an unconscious, bodily response to something that is constant and unchanging - like the hum of a fan - we lose the consciousness of the sound.

The examples are a bit inconsistent. The 1st and 3rd examples regard the loss vision in the of visual fields but the second example, when you cut the left optic nerve, you talk about the loss of vision in the eye and not the visual field.

The video series most closely align with the AAMC MCAT syllabus. They are better than the pricy big name prep companies resources. Please post more videos to cover the whole MCAT pyschology syllabus or better still, the whole MCAT syllabus. Great job.

Question: Is subliminal perception a signal that is still transduced to CNS, but doesn’t reach higher-order brain regions that control attention and consciousness ?? Or is it NOT transduced at all? as in, not strong enough to even send action potential?

Sorry to burst this presentation but to my knowledge sensory adaption is the reduction of constant stimuli at the SENSORY LEVEL, such as contracting small muscles in the middle ear to reduce the amount of vibrations of the ossicles to REDUCE TRANSDUCTION of sensation and can occur any where else at the sensory receptor level (occurs in body, physiological), habituation on the other hand is the reduced response to a repeated exposure to the same stimulus at the cognitive level (occurs in brain, psychological) I don't think the way you presented habituation as just being a reduction of hearing to be correct.....

hi, I have a specific question for you, let say we are varying stimuli from 1 to 10 of intensity. If weber's constant is 0.5, how many JNDs would we have if we started at 1 and stopped at every JND before measuring the next JND?
