Uncle Thomas Recollections of a Cypriot 🇨🇾🇬🇧
The five-minute documentary explores the life of my mother's uncle, Thomas Chrisostomou, his recollections of Cyprus when he was a young child and his experience as a refugee in the United Kingdom.
He shares his personal memories from the time he met his wife, Georgoulla, to the more recent days. He talks about his concerns at the time of leaving Cyprus and his hopes for a better future in the UK.
Thomas explains how he has kept his traditions and culture alive whilst living in Southgate, North London, as a way of connecting with his family in Cyprus. This documentary focuses on Thomas's personal story and the difficulties he faced as a Greek-Cypriot refugee. It is not a historical documentary about the Turkish invasion.
