Jean-Pierre Melville’s loved American gangster films. His depiction of that genre in Bob le Flambeur, is a uniquely French adaptation. The film captures late night Paris, its casinos, smoky bars, and the characters that inhabit the city.

My good friend lives and works abroad but whenever he comes to London we meet up at the French House. Fantastic!
Ten years have passed so quickly, but dear Aubrey is not forgotten.
Sorry there’s no soul and feel like al hirts rendition
@TheDaffygluk. It appears you need to learn much more about jazz.
@@mrconstable1908 i disagree im into music that moves you emotionally , like al hirt ,go and watch the same tune he played in 1966 on the Andy Williams show and see if you can’t tell the difference and im some one who actually plays trumpet
@@TheDaffygluk You're missing the point. Your experience does not mean you understand jazz. I have been playing my Vincent Bach large bore for over 40 years and have over 100 albums of Chet's so I certainly understand the emotion you are referring to.
@@mrconstable1908 what makes you think you do mr know all , your full of shit , you don’t even know me take your Vincent Bach and shove it where the sun don’t shine and don’t bother replying I stand by what I originally said You don’t have to agree with me but don’t preach to me with your dick measuring contest

Lyrics by Elvis Costello. Almost blue Almost doing things we used to do There's a girl here and she's almost you Almost All the things that your eyes once promised I see in hers too Now your eyes are red from crying Almost blue Flirting with this disaster became me It named me as the fool who only aimed to be Almost blue It's almost touching, it will almost do There is part of me that's always true Always Not all good things come to an end Now it is only a chosen few I have seen such an unhappy couple Almost me Almost you Almost blue
The beautiful sounds of my childhood in Munich, thank you so much!
@Groundskystar My pleasure!
I even lived on the Kaulbachstrasse where AFN had its building, far from McGraw Kaserne.
@@Groundskystar If you can please send me an email I could send you my original version of AFN's Midnight in Europe which has been deleted because of music copyright.
❤
1964, Frederiksoord.huiswerk maken met AFN there's music in the air na midnight. Magic om het weer te horen.
Wistful - a yearning for those times.
Pity it cut out before the end. I was really enjoying it
The super ⭐ Rita Hayworth!
No, it's not Rita. @enriquebentz1580
It’s a great theme
Master of the trumpete
La hermosa Abbe Lane fuoi la mas charmosa crooner and dancer of all from Xavier Cugat orchestra.
Grande Maestro e poeta❤
Sublime ❤
Does anyone know the name of the vocalist?
Rudeness is real. A rare quality in a pub landlord these days. Everyone is more concerned with being PC and fake.
Quite correct ! Andy.
👍👍👍🙂

Roseann Rufus Jones Oooooh now this is absolutely stirringly beautiful.
Comment from, Peter Mautner. "The violin, muted trumpet, and the lights reflecting off the rain and her legs. It evokes loneliness, a danger of the unknown (life). The unpredictable way the night may or may not go. As Haunting as is life ! "
Very Film Noir.
Boy! This takes me back... While Bill Crawford was in Stuttgart I was on AFN Frankfurt. Those were some of the most exciting years of my life.
Thanks for your feedback, Tom. This recording had over 34000 views before some Idiot deleted it. But there's always a way if only you can see it.
Legend
So tasty and fine. Understated elegance.
Written by Elvis Costello for Chet Barker.
A Modern Masterpiece.
I spent the Christmas holidays 1967 in Heidelberg with my step-grandfather, his brother, his wife and kids and remember hearing that "Yankee Doodle Dandy" sounder "This is Armed Forces Radio Network Europe". Does not seem like it has been that long ago.
Was Tom your step-grandfather? He did mornings on AFN Frankfurt and I did afternoons. Tom was terrific on the air...a droll sense of humor that you got seconds after his punchline. Loved him!
@@tomgauger949 No. He was not stationed in Heidelberg. His brother was. He took me with him to visit "Uncle", his wife and kids after my grandmother died earlier that year. That was my first trip on a commercial airliner.
@@pamalford8319 Tom and I were stationed in AFN Frankfurt with studios in a suburban 14th century schloss (castle).
Belíssimo!!!
Thank you Mr Constable for posting this. I'm a woman and I could see the magnet this woman had in her time. Wow. And to think she's still alive. What a beauty and that voice.
Wow who is this beautiful lady. Her voice ! That voice! Jeez she's amazing. I'm obsessed. She had it all. Mesmerizing voice and beauty. I think in any order. The men probably used to fall at her feet and fight over her. I'm going to binge watch her movies just to see her and hear her voice. I always loved black and white movies because of my darling father.
I use to go to the Coach and Horses in soho I still sometimes go back in their and have a drink
Super theme from a little remembered TV film, the classic Dangerous Davies the Last Detective with Bernard Cribbens and a host of other British talent. I am a massive fan of the original book by Leslie Thomas and this film is a faithful reproduction of the novel, not quite perfect or complete but a good 8 or 9 out of 10. Both this theme and the movie itself deserve wider recognition.
He's No Al Hirt
All I can say is Wow Wow Wow
Is that Ricky Ricardo on the bongo drum? Hey, Leetle Reeckee!
