The only legit way to play Bach is Organ, Harpsichord or a period pianoforte. Not modern pianos. The same goes to ALL of Baroque music, change my mind.
There is no legit way to play Bach. In his autographs he, specifically, uses the word "clavier", which, in his time, meant keyboard, quite literally. This meant he was writing for any keyboard not excluding the pianoforte, which, obviously, is the forerunner of our modern day piano. During his life, Bach, knew of the pianoforte and saw developments that were made over time to keyboard instruments in general. He was, certainly, intelligent enough to realise that piano development would go far beyond the capabilities of 18th century builders and that bigger, better possibilities lay on the distant horizon. Bach, would love the modern piano with it's greater ability to produce a legato, cantabile sound and realise gradual dynamics. Much of his keyboard output (and I do say all) works better on modern pianos for so many reasons. The purists still around today are, unfortunately, incredibly narrow minded individuals who miss out on the possibilities that lay within the music itself.

You must be a purist. But there are no layers of sound or subtlety of touch.
Better in the first one, clear tone in high register and more sharp, brilliant.

@@sonophis quizás tengas una percepción de haber tocado en directo, o es que de verdad te gusta ese piano más. La verdad que no importa, para eso están los gustos, pero a mi personalmente me gusta mucho más el primero porque suena más articulado y hay un mejor balance en registro agudo y grave que para bach igual es lo que necesita. Por lo demás, muy buena interpretación!
the difference in sound was just because of the distance, nothing more. they both sound like shit. I can't stand Baroque music on a grand piano.
