    Kul att du tar upp 1700-talet och vad som ledde till att vi förlorade Finland, känns som den perioden har blivit rätt bortglömd. Kan i och för sig tänka mig att man gärna ville tala tyst om de här misslyckade krigen senare under nationalromantiken och så 🤫

      1700-talet och 1800-talet är ett sekel som jag har börjat tycka om mer och mer ju äldre jag blivit. Väldigt intressant tid med mycket fantastiskt intressant människor. Men 1600-talet har en förmåga att ta upp det mesta av syret när det gäller svensk historia. Håller på och jobbar på en video om svenska fältmarskalkar. Så kommer också snart handla mycket om 1600-talet på kanalen dock 😅

      @@YetAnotherHistoryChannel thank you. I like looking at history through that lens. There are a couple of families like the Armfeldt family that is involved in different eras of Swedish history. I am working on a script about the Ehrensvärd family which is besides this period also involved in the time of late 19th century and wwi and wwii era. Especially world war ii is one where you get a lot of the big things from a Swedish perspective if you follow the Ehrensvärds

    This is a period I know very little about, it is very interesting to learn here. That key is an especially interesting item. It seems Sweden also had it's fair share of family feudes and infighitng. Great work once again!

    • @StoriesFromHistory-rv4oi
      @StoriesFromHistory-rv4oi Місяць тому

      Absolutely. The key has always fascinated me a lot. It serves as a link to make the history even more real in a way. It is otherwise an era we have way to little historical sources for. That whole link to Norway that I briefly mentioned is also sort of the starting point for what would lead to the Kalmar Union a century or so later.

    Great work! I had never heard of this incident before. I think Hagman took a very difficult, but in the end the correct choice. Upsetting the Royal Navy during the Second World War wouldn't have been a good move. The political goings on in Stockholm at the times sounds very interesting too, with a need to be prepared from threats all around.

    • @StoriesFromHistory-rv4oi
      @StoriesFromHistory-rv4oi Місяць тому

      I think you are probably right. It was a new era and the world had changed. Also, since we have the benefit of hindsight now we can also say that it worked out for the best in the end. There is also a third incident that did not talk about here, partly because it does not fit the theme, but also because the investigation into the incident is still secret more than 80 years later. Check out the Hårsfjärden disaster if you are interested: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H%C3%A5rsfj%C3%A4rden_disaster Rumour, and that is all it is, has it that the investigation indicated this was sabotage by the British. But who knows, we will maybe know more when the archives are finally declassified in the future.

      @YetAnotherHistoryChannel Місяць тому

      @@StoriesFromHistory-rv4oi That's a very interesting little affair, it's a shame more isn't available. It sounds like it could have been a simple accident, I also wouldn't be surprised if the British did sabotage them to prevent them ever ending up in hostile hands. Sweden did certainly become involved with both sides in one way or another. True, it will be very interesting to read that archive information.

      @@YetAnotherHistoryChannel Absolutely, the Germans most certainly thought about invading a couple of times. But most of the risk was the first couple of years. Over time the power dynamics changed a lot. I am thinking about doing a video about the last couple of days of the war in Europe when Sweden was very close to joining the war and going into Denmark. Swedens relationship overall with Germany is something that is interesting to me and how it changed over the course of both World Wars.

      @@StoriesFromHistory-rv4oi That would be a very interesting topic. I remember reading somewhere Germany discussed allying with Sweden to take land from Russia before the Great War. Then in WW2 there's obviously Swedish soldiers volunteering to fight with the Finnish, the Germans as well as very important intelligence to the British, such as information regarding the Bismark. So many possibilities!
