    Thanks Dr for you attention. I have had repeated bouts of Malaria symptoms. I've been treated with various malaria medication, and typhoid usually after blood test. Typically after every malaria treatment I get relieved but symptoms resurface after 2 weeks. I sleep under a net, I'm over 50 years old. I've done various tests... liver, kidney, etc all well. I also did MRI and the primary concern was that I had a low heart rate... sinus bradycardia and septal t- wave abnormality suspected ( further investigation advised). Tests also indicated I should watch my cholesterol. I'm physically fit for my age I belive, and exercise often. I was intrigued by your post on areas of medical investigation relative to Malaria/typhoid symptoms which are ignored, or assumed to be twin ailments. With the above information, and the insights of your post, what medical advise would you give sir as regard this frequent malaria episodes. Thanks sir.

      Thank you for sharing such a detailed account of your experience-it helps paint a clear picture of the challenges you've faced. From your description, it seems like you've already taken commendable steps by undergoing various tests and staying proactive about your health. Frequent 'malaria-like' symptoms that resurface shortly after treatment can sometimes indicate an underlying issue beyond malaria. Here are some considerations and suggestions: 1) Investigate Persistent Causes: If you’re frequently diagnosed with malaria based on symptoms or rapid diagnostic tests, ask if these were confirmed by a blood film test (microscopy). False positives can occur, leading to unnecessary treatments. 2) Reevaluate Typhoid Diagnoses: As discussed in my video, the Widal test alone is often unreliable. If typhoid is suspected, tests like blood cultures should confirm the diagnosis. Ensure that typhoid treatment is appropriately indicated before antibiotics are prescribed. 3) Rule Out Other Conditions: Persistent or recurring symptoms might point to conditions like chronic infections, immune system dysfunction, or even stress-related illnesses. Consider consulting with a physician who can take a holistic approach to your health. 4) Heart and Cholesterol Concerns: The sinus bradycardia and septal T-wave abnormality noted on your tests warrant a closer look. It’s encouraging that you’ve been advised to follow up. A cardiologist can perform additional tests like an echocardiogram or a Holter monitor to check for rhythm abnormalities or structural issues. Managing your cholesterol is also essential, as it affects overall cardiovascular health. 5) Lifestyle Adjustments: Your use of mosquito nets is excellent, but also ensure that your environment is regularly fumigated or treated to reduce mosquito breeding. Balanced nutrition, adequate hydration, and stress management are equally vital. 6) Collaborate with Specialists: Sometimes, a multidisciplinary approach is needed. An infectious disease expert can provide deeper insights into recurring fevers, especially if malaria keeps being diagnosed without clear evidence. If you'd like, feel free to share additional details or test results, and I’d be happy to provide more tailored suggestions. Wishing you the very best in resolving these health challenges. Stay informed and stay proactive!

    Thank you for the information, timely intervention and accurate diagnosis saved the patient life. We don't have a very strong regulatory body in Nigeria that will sanction Patent medicines stores and Pharmacy outlets for irregular practices. Some of them over cross their boundaries leading to health complications and dead of many patients. Most doctors too need to upgrade their skills to ensure they do the right diagnosis and prescribe the right medication to their patients. I am just imagining this patient spending his savings on antipsychotics drugs after misdiagnosis by another Physician.

    • @DoctorChuks
      @DoctorChuks Місяць тому

      Thank you for your insightful comment! You’ve raised very important points. Regulatory oversight is indeed crucial to prevent the dangers posed by unregulated practices, which can lead to devastating health outcomes. The case also highlights the need for continuous medical education among healthcare providers to improve diagnostic accuracy and patient care. A misdiagnosis can lead to unnecessary treatments, financial strain, and prolonged suffering for patients, as you rightly mentioned. I hope sharing cases like this will help raise awareness and encourage both healthcare providers and patients to advocate for thorough evaluations and accurate diagnoses. Your engagement is much appreciated!
