Mam! Look! I'm on UA-cam! Subscribe for wilderness canoe trips and outdoor adventures.
My name is Elwyn. I love camping, bushcraft, canoe-tripping, the outdoors, and the Canadian backcountry in particular. I am in the very privileged position to be able to do a wilderness canoe camping trip now and again. I'll be trying to share the experience on here. My aim is to try to communicate the magic of the places I go, and to share with the world a love for nature and the wild.

Can my body take it? Wilderness canoeing, camping and bushcraft in Wabakimi #3
I went back to the boreal forest! Once again, in and around Wabakimi Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada for 9 days of canoe tripping, bushcraft and wilderness camping.
I continue up the Berg river in this episode. The water levels are high and the flow is fast. What was a very challenging morning coincides with the affirmation that solo-paddling a canoe in the wilderness is an awesome way to spend time. Once on Smoothrock Lake we face a passing thunder-shower. Challenges a plenty in what continues to be a life-affirming, amazing experience in Wabakimi.
I'm joined by my good friends Dan & George on another epic wilderness adventure. In the sunshine of July 2024, our route will take us over 160km of canoeing, portaging (when you wear a canoe like a hat) and camping, starting from the furthest reaches of the park. Isolated and alone in the wilderness, we'll be heading back toward Armstrong, where we'll be picked up by Bruce of Wabakimi Outfitters, 9 days later.

I went back to the boreal forest! Once again, in and around Wabakimi Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada for 9 days of canoe tripping, bushcraft and wilderness camping. This episode covers the first couple of days, when the stresses of modern life ebb away to be replaced by the peace of the forest and the excitement of an environment like no other. We start from Burntrock Lake, proceed along the...
Wild-camping and a 35km hike in Carneddau, Eryri National Park, Wales

I hiked 35km from Llyn Crafnant in the Conwy valley to the summit of Carnedd Llewelyn and back again, wild-camping for a night in the beautiful and peaceful Cwm Eigiau on the way. The nearly 25km of hiking up the mountain, back down again and back over the two valleys on the 2nd day was a beast! I tried to be more deliberate with the shooting for this one. I have drone now, which I'm excited ab...

My friend George and I went on a 9-day canoe trip in Wabakimi Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada. The video footage is from a number of days, but tries to capture the daily routine and - of course - daily wonders of being in such a special place. My first attempt at editing a video to tell the story of the trip. Song: Inukshuk - The Long Road Home [NCS Release] Music provided by NoCopyrightSounds
Great video ,glad I just happened upon it,looking forward to your next video cheers
Thank you! 🙏
You’re a true inspiration for anyone interested in bushcraft
Really enjoyed this. Lovely shooting and chill narrating. You seem to have got lucky with no wind (so far)! Now on to Part #2. Thanks for filming and sharing. Subbed! 👍
I'm so glad you're enjoying it. There's some adversity ahead... after all, you can't expect the wind to be at your back every day! ;) I appreciate you watching, taking the time to comment, and the sub.
Looked miserable sitting in all that rain!
You know its a good trip when you cant recal what day it is. Great video. Looked like a great trip.
Haha. You're right! It was an amazing trip. I want to be there now! Thank you for taking the time to comment.
“It doesn’t get better than this.” *clunk* as a horsefly bounces off the microphone.
Maybe I should spray insect repellent on the camera too. Haha! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
Been enjoying your trip. I to, enjoy solo paddling, but I went to a double blade. Easier as I age.
@alprinzen5111 Thank you for such a kind comment. I've never tried a double blade outside of a kayak. Maybe I would have gotten up some of those rapids if I had one. Haha
Great vid Elwyn. Great video mate, funny to think you must have been within a day of us on Whitewater Lake! Got my vid out maybe tomorrow, maybe Thursday...
I’m looking forward to it! I might do a similar route to yours next time.
@@BorealWanderer there were a few mapping errors, so touch base first!
Hey Elwyn - great video mate, looking forward to watching the rest of the trip! I've pretty much only managed to import my video into the editing software!!!
Thanks, Matt! Appreciate it. I am working on the next instalment in Davinci. Footage-mix is different, so a bit of a challenge. Enjoyed your Cambodia vid too. Nicely shot!
@@BorealWanderer Thanks mate - wasn't happy with the grain in that footage, need to look at it in more detail. I've swapped from Davinci to Capcut Desktop - playback is vastly smoother and less messing about with settings
Way to rock out the Boreal, and Wabakimi, such a gem. Great drone shot at the 121 mark! Ha, got to love those black fly portages.
Hey, thanks! I appreciate it. Wabakimi really is a very cool place. I’m a novice at this making videos lark, but working on getting better. Thanks for watching and for the comment!
I look forward to my few days in the wilderness for literally months before. This trip did not disappoint. The boreal forest - and Wabakimi in particular - is a magical place. This is my first video for a while. I feel like I've learnt a lot since my last one. As ever, I'm trying to learn as much as I can with each video and to make a better video than the last each time. With that in mind please let me know what you like and don't like. Do you have any tips for me to make better videos? Please share. Anyway, I hope I've done this awesome experience and this unique destination justice in this video, and that I've manage to get across just a little of the magic of Wabakimi. I have 26 subscribers. None of this matters. But I do enjoy the process.
Bivied in Eigiau in the quarry huts before climbing on Craig yr Ysfa years ago. Lovely quiet cwm. And great to hear the proper pronunciation for a change!
Diolch. Glad you enjoyed it.
