Hello, I thoroughly appreciate "The Power Broker" podcasts. The WC in Nashville, TN, on Nolensville Pike, has a unique drive-thru window / DOOR. I'm thankful for the three WC's on U,S,-1 between Princeton,NJ and Tonnelle Ave.., The Harlem WC @ The Hotel Theresa, and the Fordham Road WC, among many. Cheers.

Avery's idea for a permanent Summer Olympics site is awesome. The flame can still do its world tour. A "host" country can still organize an opening ceremony. And we avoid the political BS of bidding and BS games end up in Russia or China. We can do the Winter Olympics in Switzerland permanently.

The place I worked at in the 90’s had a lot of dirty non hand washers so I stole an “employees must wash hands” sign from a Publix bathroom. I cut off the Publix logo and stuck it to the bathroom door at my work. It’s still there. Maybe it helped, I don’t know.

Second comment - what I learned from this podcast is that Americans are uniquely stupid when it comes to inhabiting and travelling across the landscape despite being smart in some other areas of life.

Boston had 452 miles of streetcar lines most of which fed into the Green Line but all but 3 surface trolley lines were eliminated and 1 was trimmed, even though 3 grade separated light rail lines were built (Riverside, Union Square, Medford Tufts). Fewer trams operate inside the tunnel today than trolleys did decades ago yet travel times are longer and service more unreliable.

Existing subway lines can be made to be automated and this is happening in many cities around the world.

Once I'm reading it's great, but if I put it down it really becomes hard for me to pick it up again. It is so funny, in a really devious politicians way. By the way, Smith and Mrs Moskowitz know Moses set all that entrenched power for himself, there is a line in there about that. Really engagingly written.
