How exciting! I’m so happy for you. Yes! Bring a hot water bottle bag! The porters are able to fill it with hot water for you to keep you warm at night. Also bring hand warmers and feet warmers. Merino wool is your friend!so at night, I wore a merino wool base layer, sweatpants, merino wool socks, and fleece to bed with a hat. Since it gets really cold at night and frosty in the mornings, I rented an ultra down sleeping bag from the company I trekked with which kept me warm. If you’re going to rent, I would recommend you give it a good wipe down before using it or if you get it a day before the hike, ask the hotel staff to clean it before you use it. I had bug bite marks from sleeping in my sleeping bag. I’m super glad I brought Diamox with me and also really glad I hiked with a oxygen tank for the summit so I would recommend that to set yourself up for success at the summit. Something else I would recommend that I didn’t do is to do some 5-8hr hikes to get your body use to walking for that long. I only was able to train with weights and did some light hiking but I wish I did more. Also make sure your boots have been worn a few times - ankle boots are highly recommended.

I'm writing down your suggestions and will definitely let the rest of our group know too. Great tip about asking the hotel to clean the sleeping bags! We were going to get liners for a bit of added warmth, but knowing they are also clean will put us at ease. I'm leaning towards Diamox and glad you felt it helped. Thanks so much for your tips! We'll definitely plan a few long hikes before the big trip!
