How was it hidden? You could select it from the title screen. What I’d love to know however, is level 7 the dungeon. One of life’s greatest mysteries before you fight the two golden knights: who are the two bronze statues that never come to life? They look badass but there is literally no mention of them. The ending mentions every character you come across but not the two bronze statues.

It makes me want to try and reach that level just to see if I can get there.

I think by the time I got into arcades the initial Pac-Man fever had passed. I remember them clearly though stood in every arcade I went to.

I always got confused between this and Sonic 3, I believe they were originally intended to be one game but got split into two.

I find it particularly interesting that you get to play as two characters at the same time. It reminds me in a weird way of controlling the infantry in North & South on the Amiga :D

I had nightmares of the disembodied head monster for years after watching my cousins play this when I was a kid. Even today the monster designs are grotesque and terrifying. Back when vivid imagination had to do what cutting edge graphics couldn't, this game was legitimately terrifying to me.

I loved Ecco as a child and the ending just confused me so much!
