1:01 is Salzburg Cathedral
Excellent overture and opening credit! One of a true classic which makes me smile and cry🙂😂
Frank was a patriotic President, an America first politician
I do like the Overture in the film version
I can never not help but smile when I've watched Sound if Music, because the opening is perfect with shots in/around Salzburg and the alps! Indeed, the hills ARE alive with the sound of music!
I saw it the first time during its "roadshow" engagement at the Riverview Playhouse on Granby Street in Norfolk, VA. A Levine family theatre - gone are those days. Riverview, Rosna (Rose and Nathan), Naro (Nathan and Rose), Memrose, Rosalee, . . .
Irwin Kostal was a musical genius. Imagine having the talent score TSOM and West Side Story? It’s staggering.
Mary Poppins and Charolette’s Web too
Half a Sixpence as well
Movie orchestras sound so much better than Broadway orchestras. IMO
Why do you believe that?
@@manuelorozco7760 listen to them. Duh.
@@Demille40Well they are bigger and grander. I see your point
Muriel’s Wedding?
I loved The Sound of Music when I was a kid, and it was a brilliant film that deserved to win the Academy Award for Best Picture. Back then, I didn't understand what was happening later on in the film, but now that I'm older, I learned that the musical and the film itself took place when World War II was happening, and when the Nazis were invading Europe, causing a lot of people to escape from their homes and move to the USA to be safe. 😥
I remember not understanding either
the iconic "Waterloo" by the iconic ABBA in the iconic Simpson
Omg it's Ariana Grande's 7 rings!!! (well actually she stole the melody🙄)
The Lonely Goatherd Scene
nice
The rendition of “Something Good” that starts at 1:42 is absolutely stunning.
I sometimes can’t resist it
I read this song It wasn't in the original score. This song It was written by the writer after death of the Music composer, because he don like the other song title "an ordinary couple" written by he(sorry my horrible english)
You missed the Family Guy episode with "Dancing Queen".
I’ve seen the Sound of Music 10 times. I’ve first sat down to watch it as a 13 year old slowly getting into musicals. I didn’t go for a second viewing until I was a year out of high school. I’m 30 now and this beautiful movie has been a semi holiday tradition. Three times I’ve watched it in the spring. But mainly between Thanksgiving and Christmas. In between viewings, I come back to hear the overture.
Love this so so much!!
I love this version of "My Favorite Things" 0:55 - 1:42
Same here.
Love Malcolm in the middle
The winner takes it all en Better Call Saul
The 1930s weren't "Golden Years"!
They were in Austria. Sorry you weren't there.
@@buddyrevell511I want to know why they were Golden there
The overture of The Sound of Music was absolutely amazing. In fact, it’s music to my ears inside my heart forever.
Interesting that this running gag didn't start until season 3.
11:05
I had no idea abba we're in all these movies there's a sissy spacek movie which has honey honey in it
Not season 4, please. It doesn't exist.

is that maeby in the last clip?
The best in history
will u be making a part 2
planning on it, I could make a part 2 just from Muriel's Wedding
Love how Lucille doesn't mind beating her son up
3:58 the events in the movie "Dick" take place between 1972 and 1974, more than 2 years before "Dancing Queen" was first released as a single. Perhaps "Waterloo" would have been a better selection for a movie about Richard Nixon and the Watergate scandal. "Finally facing my Waterloo" indeed.
11:14 Miss Congeniality A*Teens "Dancing Queen"
WOW...so glad you were able to include that Kristy MacNichol movie 'Just The Way You Are' because I don't think it's been released on dvd. I saw it back in the 80's on HBO. It also includes Frida's big hit 'I Know There's Something Going On'. Thanks for posting.
"It *was* awkward."
I always call out freebies now
This has been in my regular vocabulary for over a decade because of this joke
I'm going to have to rewatch this show now.. 😁
If there's a funny, catchy line in this show, odds are it's a recurring theme.
great editing :)
Can anybody explain exactly what a freebie is?
It's a free chance. Basically, despite being caught in a compromising situation or in the middle of a plan with little to no hope, they luck out into an excuse or development that turns things around with little to no effort on their part.
I didn't realize they didn't start this gag til S3. Too bad S5 sucked.
Prison gala hahahaha
one of my favorite running gags is how self absorbing michael is that he never notices things around him
Michael is one of the funniest characters purely because he’s so normal that things just happen around him and he just accepts it
If you added up all of the times Michael was self absorbing and added them together with the times Michael was self absorbed you would have an even number.
"It's a jetpack, Michael, what could possibly go wrong?"
