Dont feel bad, you don’t want to be in the boat i am in. I was admittedly a meta chaser during 8th and tried anything and everything just so long as it won. And what ended up happening is because I tried everything nothing felt special or new to me anymore, and now in 10th I am trying to figure out what it is I want to collect. 😂

I did the same, bought leviathan box, built and painted half the marines, shelfed them and a year later I'm fully chaos. I think the second army/faction you get into is the one that cements you into the hobby and what you like so the first army you have is not a total waste

also btw in lore a disc is literaly just a screamer so you can just slap it onto a 32mm base or a flight stand and use it and blam the box has a legal 3 model screamer unit. so id say biggest bang for your buck buy 3 and have 3 pink leaders, 3 exalted flamers, 3x3 screamers, and either trade for , buy or make your own blue horror and blam 1x10 legal unit of blue horrors

i have not checked but the skull cannon is similar (but not as good) since you get a herald aswell only issue is his pose but as long as you got some bits and green stuff you should be good

I like your vids but I wish they were longer and that you’d provide more footage of building the models you talk about. I get that you probably don’t want to have to hassle with filming every model you make but here and there it would be nice to have more in-depth vids

I got the same feeling when i bought my tyrannofexes. I dont know what GW did smoke when pricing this monstrositys but 40€ a piece is (for GW standards) a ripoff. Tyrannofexes are as huge as models that cost three times as much or more.

Friend of mine was interested in Warhammer 40k. We are both adults with good paying jobs. He looked at the price of a Custodes set, told me "it's super expensive" and never even entertained the idea of getting into minis again. How people 15-25 can afford this hobby is beyond me, and the 25+ who do, if we are being honnest, should think about how they spend their money.

Thanks for the tip. I appreciate that you shared how we can sometimes get more than advertised. In a similar vein, some guard artillery models contain troops to man the artillery. I'm sure you could pull them from the artillery and stick them in another regiment. The artillery is just as functional without, albeit a little more lifeless.

I’ve found that painting is my favourite part of the process. I’ve a nice area set up complete with a wee comfy chair where I’m able to shut off everything including my thoughts. The wife, four kids and two dogs rarely disturb me whilst I paint

I like painting warhammer, I take my time (some inconsistent hours for months or a year) but the final result is getting better. My last blood angels had special blood effects on their swords. Some steps in the process are boring, like the first coats of color, and the final result doesnt seems to be amazing, compare to when I paint or draw someting in paper (less effort and more impresing)

What i learned from repainting 18 mini's half grey knights and half necrons. Is every time they come out better. Im on my 3rd run through them now.

I absolutely love spending MONTHS painting my first ork boyz, I love knowing that every single smallest detail looks as good as I can physically make it look and I love finding new techniques and tips every week. Love getting new paints or trinkets like the drill for gun barrels on my way home from school every now and then

if you really really hate it you could commission someone to do it . i haven't done that so far but I can show you some of my stuff if you want

1. Invest in an airbrush 2. Contrast paints are your friend 3. paint par unit so 1 color for 10 models and then change 4. limit your paining sceme to 6 colors par army 5. Pay your friend who can paint.

I hate building models with a passion. Why? Because it stops me from just starting to paint.

I just started recently too. But from everything I've seen online, you'll grow to like painting more and more. I started out liking building more too, but I've already reached the point that I can't wait to finish building so I can start painting, after just a few months. There's something very satisfying about laying down some color, especially when you get good at it and aren't constantly fighting with your tools or incompetence.

Between this and the complaints about modeling and transportation it sounds like you actually just don’t like this hobby very much.

Personally I never get tired of painting and I can just sit and do it for 10+ hours a day when I’m free. I’ve found that what helps is trying out different techniques when painting armies and slightly switching up schemes. This really breaks up the monotony and makes it so that you’re not just doing the same things over and over again.

I don’t hate painting, I have very little time at the moment. Then when I do I end up making a mess- lose motivation until I watch a video like this. Thanks (from the UK)

i just got into warhammer 40k and i bought the levathian box, i was so excited when i opened the box and when i was done building all the models and painted my first space marine which took a long ass time then looked at the rest of the models and just sighed and said i hate painting lol. but its been like a month and i am nearly done with the box

What I HATE is my inability to finish things. I’ve become a good painter honestly, but I’ll paint almost a full 2000 point army and have like 2 or 3 models left and lose ALL motivation to finish them and want to move onto the next painting project. Edit: Also great looking models bro, it’s clear you’re improving.

I have phrases, going from getting sick just grabbing a brush, to painting 10 hours per day for dozens of days, but in the end, having to contemplate my finished model/unit makes me the proudest girl ever, no matter how smooth or painful it was
