BTW havent see n it mentioned in the comments so quick tip - you dont have to adjust the aplha on the particle plane(s) IE your emitter, you just turn it off in the particle render settings by unticking "show emitter"

Only one wheel worked for me... I wish they put on the screen each key combination they make, it would help a lot for those of us who are starting out...
