Hi Damian, you could do this by creating a rich text field in the Lightning Page Builder (add the text you want) and then doing a visibility filter on it. Only show when the Status = "Approval" or whatever status you are using. Then it will automatically appear and disappear as required :)

When creating a case from my Gmail account, I have an attachment to the email i am logging in as a case. How do I get the attachment to save on the case?
In that situation, rather than using the Gmail plugg-in. It might be easier to simply forward the email to the Email-To-Case address, which will auto-create a Case and add any attachments as files to the Case. Less clicks ;)
@@laurencetaylor2844 Will it pick up any data from the email to help auto-populate fields in the case? Our sales reps receive requests from the customer and we want the rep to create a case from the request. Of course the request comes in via their email with attachments
@@MoniqueSirgo If the sales rep forwards it on to the email-to-case, then no it won't associate with the original sender. It'll likely need the associated contact/account manually populated on the Case by your team. But the Case description will have the email + the attachment will be attached. Most efficient to have your customers email the Email-To-Case email address directly :)
Great video. I can't see some of my custom fields, though. In particular, a custom date field isn't showing up. I want my popup to display if a 'date received' is over 3 years ago. That custom field just doesn' show up. Any ideas?
When adding the filter, try going to the "advanced" tab and then go to "Record" and all the fields should now be visible. Hopefully that helps!

Yes of course, that is a great use case to consider. And custom objects included in managed packages don't count against the 10 custom object limit on the Community/Community Plus licenses. So big win!
Hi , great info to get me started on setting up the quote approval process. Where do i set 'draft' to have the submit for approval as mine is set to go straight to PDF options, thanks
That will require some customization of the page layout and record types for the quote object. You'll need a custom record type on Quote for Draft, In-Approval and Approved statues. Each record type has a different page layout assigned to it. (Thats how you hide the buttons to generate the PDF) That is more on the advanced configured side, best speak with a Salesforce partner or hit up trailhead.

Is there an inbuilt quote template in salesforce which is free of cost or you used an externatl software like S-docs or Conga?
That is the template included with the "Quote" object in Salesforce Sales Cloud, but if you want to go really custom then you'll need something like S-Docs or Conga or similar products.

Do you have to do this on the opportunities page? We use cases and need to generate quotes inside of the case object. I don't see a way to relate the object to cases. Thoughts?
Well you'd want to create an easy way to link an Opportunity to the Case. Once you got the Opp created, then you can create a quote ;) If you create a lookup field on the Case object to the Opportunity object that should give you something basic. (Assuming each Case has only one related Opportunity)

Hello, I see that when you create a Case, you need to manually add the Contact name, is there a way for it to be automatically populated by the related account?
Well, if you use email-to-case or web-to-case to automatically create Cases, the system can use the email address from the email/web form to lookup the Contact automatically and associate it with the Case. And during this process, it will also set the Account Name to the Contact.AccountName. So I think the answer is yes :)
Hi Lawrence - What if you exit a tab in SFDC Lightning on accident? How do you restore it on a MAC? I know SHIFT + COMMAND + T will bring a browser tab, but inside Lightning itself...I'm stumped. I've researched for awhile and can't find a resolution. Many thanks ahead of time!

Have you ever come across - Panevi Tonayden Blueprint - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? For the standard component, you cannot change the background color, you can change the text color. Therehere are other similar things on the AppExchange that can accommodate changing background such as appexchange.salesforce.com/appxListingDetail?listingId=a0N3A00000FYDyHUAX Also, this only applies to Lightning sorry, not classic :)
I though this was for admins but its a video for users on how to quote and submit for approval. not how to setup your org. not very useful for me as admin

Kalaivani D You would need to create a rich text banner for each language and then use a filter to display based on some conditions in the user record. There might be some appexchange packages that could make this easier.
Great video thanks! I just have 1 question: how were you able to hide the record type selection page when you created your quote? I have assigned 2 record types with a page layouts with and without create pdf button. It switches based on status thanks to a process. Did you use a visual force page to hide the record types from appearing when creating a new quote?
A good question, don’t add the second record type that contains the page layout with the generate quote button to the user profiles. You can still access and interact with the record and this means they must always go through the procedure you designed.

Sometimes the interface can take a 30 seconds to load, particularly that Rich Text component. Perhaps give it a moment and then see if you can click in it :)

@@lorrie117 You might want to talk to your SF partner about that, sounds like something else on the Lightning page might be causing a problem.
How do you change which template you would like to use in Salesforce Lightning? I see the option in Salesforce Classic, but not in Lightning? We operate a group of companies so I need to have multiple templates with different logos.
Once you create multiple Quote Templates, you'd be prompted to choose one on creation. Otherwise, if you have complex use situations and multiple businesses you can use something like Conga or S-Docs to generate the quote PDF/Document and then create a button inside Salesforce to auto-select the template in a single click. (makes it easier for your team)
Is there a way I can import a parts list into SalesForce and have it match to the associated prices automatically? My quotes are derived from Visio Shape Data that's exported into Excel. So basically I need a way to import a list from Excel into SalesForce and have it build the quote based on the imported info. It's thousands of unique rows of information.
Secret Horse sounds like you might want to consider Salesforce CPQ which is more powerful and allows that level of automation.
Hi, thanks for the video. Is it possible to edit field values with a macro? For example if I want to change lead status from Working to Disqualified.
Not directly, but that doesn't mean you cannot automate it :) For example, you could "log a call' or send an email with a specific subject header and then have a Process Builder rule fire to then update the Lead status if certain words or phrases are detected. You then control the phrase or text being entered into the "log a call" record via the macro. Hope that helps :) Maybe one day soon we'll be able to directly modify Case fields!!

Chloe Brown glad you found it useful, :) The Sales templates can be created and edited through the setup menu and searching for ‘quote templates’. The interface is similar to a page layout. Pro tip if you want to add images then use Firefox as you can resize them directly through Salesforce. (Not possible if you use Chrome)

When you add an attachment, can you attach files you already have in Salesforce? We're actually using the Outlook plugin for this but want to add attachments from Salesforce.

Great question - A simple way is to create a checkbox called "In Approval Process" and when you enter the approval process, set the checkbox to TRUE in the background. Then have a validation rule that detects ISCHANGED(status) AND "In Approval Process" = TRUE. And don't forget when you exit the approval process to set "In Approval Process" = FALSE :) :)

How can I set up the page in a way that 'Create PDF' and 'Email Quote' buttons are hidden when the status is in draft or in review? And I also want to disable the record to be edited when the quotation is in review or in approved like in the video.
Hi! You'll need to create separate Quote Record Types and page layouts for that to work. The page layouts allow you to control whether certain buttons or options are visible. (e.g. Create PDF) Then depending on whether the quote is draft, in-review or approved you can automatically assign the record type in the background using a workflow or process builder rule. This way, it is transparent to the user but achieves your outcome nicely ;)
