    Hey that channel if you milk it with a drop shot or a swim bait can be rlly good I’ve had days where the bite was tough and I went there and caught a 19 pound bag with my biggest being almost 5. Also the big dock at the resort there is rlly good big largemouth and small mouth. And if your looking up current out towards the main lake the pads on the left side are good to flip with some sort of creature bait

    Our family from Ohio went up there for years. We fished the Pool but mostly fished at Mc cleans Lake most often referred to as Black Lake . We stayed in cabins that were owned by Henry Ellis, a real character and Legend in those parts . Henry died and the camp was sold . We had no place to stay on the Lake after that . We had the time of our life and the fishing was great. Your video brings back memories of some of the best times of my life . Thank You

    2 reasons I don't fish in kayak tournaments: I can't sit that long & I'm a fair weather fisherman 🤣. That first bass was a beauty! The PB bass had a beat up tail. Day 1 fishing was tough but the catching was excellent. Day 2 was much better fishing, but not very good catching. Sometimes I fish on what seems to be the ideal, perfect day but get skunked. You got another sub.

    I certainly can appreciate the fishing out of a kayak and it's challenges doing so. I bought one (to go along with my bass boat)..used it 3X and said -- HELL NO! ...so the kayak sits under a tarp - 4 years later lol Jackson Cooda or something like that. The constraints of 'jail cell' style fishing, was an experience I hope to never do again. Anyone want a great deal on a Cooda? - N/E of Toronto. haha Cool video and content - appreciate the videos - Cheers

      I have caught one there while fishing for bass. But unfortunately I don't know which areas would be the best. I would think the two narrow bays in the northern part of the lake would be the best, good weed growth in that area.

  • @mikelsikel73
    @mikelsikel73 Рік тому

    Hi Chris, glad I found your channel. I may have many questions, just tell me when enough is enough 😂. So I just spent a week on Lake of Bays, rented cottage - loved it. I got up a few times at 5am to go out on a kayak (not a fishing kayak, very small) and canoe to try fishing. Not much luck, not even many bites. My best success (maybe nibbles on a soft crawfish imitation) was on the point at Langmaid’s Island where according to the charts the depth drops off quickly. I just parked the kayak and tried fishing off the rocky slope into the shore. I think I need to learn more about smallmouth behaviour and tactics to catch them. I will watch more of your videos over the summer. Anyway - first question - does the sonar help a lot? I kind of wanted some as other than knowing it was a drop off in depth, I really didn’t know what was underwater there.

    Hey Chris amazing fishing just curious what trolling motor do you use ? I want to get started In tourneys for fun but realized trolling motor is a must have

    • @chrisvisserkayakfishing6182
      @chrisvisserkayakfishing6182 Рік тому

      Thank you. I should note that trolling motors are definitely not needed, and do not wait to try a tournament, they are alot of fun. I fished a club event this past weekend, and none of the top 5 anglers had motors. They are nice to have, but they do come at a cost (motor, wiring, battery, etc.). I would always recommend investing in good electronics or fishing gear before going with a motor. That said, the one in this video I built myself using a 45lbs minn kota endura trolling motor. I had to also build the variable speed controller. I have another video where I di a walkthrough of a similar setup I ad built for my Hobie Outback.

      When I fished Cooks Bay it was good, much later in the year though. Bass season is currently closed, but I think you can fish for perch or pike. Recommend checking the Ontario Fishing Regulations www.ontario.ca/document/ontario-fishing-regulations-summary
