Great video and great advice (and production value)! Bought a jelly star and basically copied your setup and its been great (although definitely having to get used to typing on this thing).
Even as a smart phone it’s so small it might actually make you not want to use it.

A black wallpaper only saves battery if it’s an OLED screen, your display looks more greyish because it’s an LCD.
@@Entertainment- You're absolutely right, it is an LCD screen so it won't save battery on this specific device 👍
Before launcher doesn’t seem to be available on Apple Store. Any other suggestions?

How did you like the f21 pro ??? I can't decide between Jelly Star and the F21 Pro, although I heard the F21 Pro is loaded with SpyWare if you buy it from AliExpress.

oh ps, does this do sideways texting like the LP? my brain really likes that for some reason lol
Unfortuneatly the default texting keypad does not, when you rotate the screen while texting the keypad becomes weird and scrunched up in a corner, but im sure there is an app you can install which does this!
you have NO IDEA (well i guess maybe you do haha) how helpful this is for me <3 i've been struggling with my light phone being too limiting but I love how little it is and then I went back to an old iphone SE 2016 which I locked so it has minimal apps only what I need and that's been okay but still too big for me and not so secure these days. but THANK YOU I'm gonna really look into this. I've been debating the LP3 but this looks like it could be great too. awesome video and your hoya is gorgeous:)
That's amazing, i'm so glad to hear this has been helpful!! I think both the LP3 and the jelly star are great options, i guess the deciding factor for most people are: one has whatsapp and the other does not. Thanks so much for this lovely message! 😄🪴

Sure! These are apps i currently have: amex, audible, calendar, calm, Legit fit, Oura, Podcasts, Trainline, spotify, whatsapp, whoop, youtube
@@OwenSeamons Thanks, I guess UA-cam is needed for work, otherwise I wouldn't (personally) consider it as an essential tool.
@@Skundef Yeah you’re right, for most people I would suggest removing UA-cam, unless it is part of their work

What about phone call quality and reception? Yeah it has apps and all but that's useless if you can't be used as a phone.

Want to decluter your life? First buy phone that you can use as dumb phone like Iphone 4 you need a good battery life, second buy a tablet for media consumption

great review! I've been using the f21pro with the Minimalism launcher. its nice to have buttons and switching between t9 text or using my thumb to swype text. drawback is it's android 11, no nfc, slightly inaccurate gps, or accelerometer, wack camera. I'd love to move to the jellystar but i'm really gonna miss the buttons to text with 😢
Yeah the f21 pro is also a really good phone too! But you’re right unfortunately the jelly star doesn’t have it, nothing beats the physical buttons!! 😮💨

Thank you for a great video! It really resonates with my own experience. I’ve been using Jelly Star for over four months now and it helped me a lot. My screen time reduced significantly. I’ve come up with the same recipe independently - basically, you have to introduce friction to make your phone less convenient for entertainment: small screen (Jelly Star), greyscale colour palette, only crucial notifications, no icons. What great about Jelly Star is that it is a very capable smartphone but its tiny screen prevents you from mindless scrolling, and in greyscale it looks like the most boring thing ever. And that’s what we want! I’ve tried Before Launcher and I liked it a lot, but it seems to drain battery much faster than default Android launcher. So I reverted to a standard launcher. Btw, if you want to use UA-cam more intentionally try NewPipe. It’s not for everyone, but if you’re ready to say goodbye to the YT algorithm and leaving comments, then you may give it a shot. Every time I turn on my iPhone, which I do sometimes to use learning apps, I immediately notice that my screen addiction is back again. I guess it’s a lifetime effort to keep myself in check while using any device with a screen.

Thanks for making this video! I've been trying to curb my phone addiction and had my eye on the Jelly Star and this review was perfect. I was planning on switching the SIM between this and my Google Pixel as I am not completely ready to transition to a dumb(er) phone full time. Do you know if this would be an issue with the Jelly Star? Thanks again
No that sounds absolutely fine! I actually started out in a very similar way too, and slowly transitioning in is definitely the best way to do it! Good luck with it all!
