    Were you at Tumalo 4 months ago? I am trying to find out if sites 76-89 are really only for tents, or can trailers camp there too? In your video one of those sites were occupied by a pop up trailer. But, when I g to the reservation site it says those sites along the river are for tents only, no RV/trailers allowed? And other places I don't see that warning. The sites look big enough to park in? Can you verify any of this?

    • @muddycamper
      @muddycamper Рік тому

      I cant verify that for you... this was filmed this year so what you see is accurate. I do know some of those sites are practically walk in only. The parking pads are pretty short - even for a small trailer and may not have enough space for both a trailer and a vehicle. If you have a trailer I would just camp at the sites setup to accommodate a trailer. The ones next to the river dont provide river access as the shrubs are so thick you cant even reach the river on foot. All river access is across the road at the day use area.

I like the campsites on the way out that way too once you enter that long stretch of dirt road- before the porta potties and after tombstone rock- that people base jump off of. Did you go to Chicken Corners- did you walk around the full corner? I did. It wasn't too bad really.

      @@MOAB-UT We stayed at the house through Base Camp Adventure Lodge. It is available through Air B & B I believe. They have disc golf and river activities as well but the Colorado was at flood stage when we were there so we couldn't go on the river. We went to chicken corners in a side by side we rented through the lodge and also stopped at Catacomb Rock which was really cool. I didn't walk the corners we had our 3 and 6 year old with us. I highly recommend the entire thing. The Adventure Lodge accommodations were great given it was 90+ degress.

    One of the first few campsites on the left, is where our family took our first camping trip. I was 4 yrs old. And we had 1957 Chevrolet Wagon, pulling an 16ft Chieftain trailer. They used to have talent competitions at the ampatheater. And I will NEVER forget walking one evening as family around the paved trail just outside the park, when the Bats came out. They were swooping down quite low. And I absolutely die laughing thinking back at my mother's and grandmother's high pitched screams of......Aahhhhhh!!!.....with arms a flailing! 😂😂😂😂 After seeing so many bats at one time, I've had a love affair with them ever since. It never gets old, watching these magnificent creatures eat. There is a low percentage of being bitten by one. And I've spent the majority of my life outdoors, and have never been bitten by one. I live about 2.5 hrs from here, now. And I can't wait to visit her again, soon.

    Towards the end of the video it looks like you go into site #7 and then it does a video transition to the shore of the lake. Is that an exclusive bit of shoreline available to site #7? Or is that by the main 'boat launch' area? Are there any other campsites with their own 'private' access to the lake, right from the site?

    • @glenntollenaar290
      @glenntollenaar290 Рік тому

      If I remember right that's a common path to the lake between a couple campsites. But there are a number of sites where you can get to the lake. Plus there's a trail leaving the south side of the campground (to the right as you face the lake) that goes around the whole lake where you can find lots of quiet spots. Weekdays in September things get quieter there, and most of the mosquitoes are gone.
