Sawmill Sunday with Tractor problems
I'll take a jar..!
What kind of transmission fluid do these tractors take trying to work on my grandpas old 990 tractor
I used UTF from tractor supply
Did you really need to remove the hood to do this job?
@@francoisgirard2306 not necessarily, but it’s pretty easy and let’s see other potential issues that need attention.
Never seen that kind of jack
What rpms do you run and gear
My Dad always advised that after moving to a new field, especially if you had travelled on a bumpy or rough road/pass, you should pull the needles back against their stop. Just in case the bouncing on the road had shaken them downwards a bit.
What is the model number of the tractor, as 600 is just a model series. There is a stamping on the horizontal flat area on the left side of the transmission just behind the starter. The top stamping has the model number, 620, 640, etc., while the bottom stamping has the serial number. I'm thinking yours is a 640.
The minute I saw the bottom part on the screen, I new you had the wrong trans oil filter. Lucky you in a way because the aftermarket filter you got doesn't fit in too on latest Selectamatic version. I own a 1968 DB880 Selectamatic. I bought a filter like yours but had to clean the original and put it back in. Hope you'll get thru the filter screen. Do you own a parts catalog ? You'll see that it needs more of trying to take it out from the drain hole. It's kind of a long stick (kind of a funnel) that needs to be dissembled from another end too. At least, that's what I think. Can be wrong here. Those were built tuff BUT they're also very old machines. They need to be serviced at many levels more than 50 years later. Mine is all restored but I have to redone both final drives. Too noisy. That's a real issue on David Brown tractors. Maybe the biggest one along with the hydraulic system. Thanks for sharing.
I don’t have a parts book. You can order the kit to convert it yourself the new style but I haven’t done that yet.
@@dabernathy215 Hope you can do it without the trouble that generally comes with it. Those DB are ying and yang at the same time. They were built solid but they're a pain in the ass too. Especially more than 50 years later.
Iss the 4000 better than the 990.
Yes. It definitely has more modern features. Especially the independent PTO hand clutch.
Coool
Wow such a beautiful place awesome
If it's within your budget.. Get coilovers. You're going to be so much happier.
that guy isn’t a farmer he’s a nerd
Takes one to know one. I’m sure you are doing big things though.
Now show how to time the knotter!!
Absolutely. I will do that soon.
Man your bringing back some long forgotten memories. DeereJohns were even worse at rethreading the spinlesand the guides. My hands and back are hurting from just thinking about them hayfields.
You can come over and practice baling mine since you have new twine and all....
You haul my equipment up there and back, it’s a deal.
@dabernathy215 I hear you pal..Lol...
I got a model 47 international. I went through it and cleaned it up, checked timing and what not. I stringed it with the hemp type twine and tried to run it. It will tie the bales but it won't cut the string. I was not able to find new knives for it and thought I had sharpened them fairly well. Was thinking of using the polly twine and seeing what would happen. Do you think this might work? I normally run a 2000 case online baler with the orange polly twine think it's the 130 tenile strength that you get at tractor supply. I know the older balers were designed for the hemp type twine just didn't know if anyone has tried running the polly or had any knowledge of what I could try next? Any advise would be helpful.
This baler won’t cut the nylon. I can only use the hemp. Check that the knives are positioned correctly. They should try and cut where the string under the most tension. This will help with the cutting.
@@dabernathy215 I'll look into that. Thanks

Good video for beginners :)
Glad you liked it
Right on the money...I heard that..!!!
You are missing the cotter pin in the centre of the flywheel inspection plate at the bottom.. No big deal; just keep mud dabbers from goin in.
Tiempo de tubería de inyección de David wron
You may want to pull a wire from end to end to check for parallelism...then square it
Amazing working skils .. good luck .. greeting fro Bandar Alai Heavy Equepment 🇮🇩🚜🙏🏻🙏🏻
Great video. I have a S69 which is very similar. I'm going to check that follower bushing, and also the knotter brake drag. I did all new chains when I first got it. Made 1000 bales with it last year, and it's at least 65 years old at this point. Only problem was some knots hanging on the billhook, but I think it was bad twine at the end of a ball because once I switched to the next ball the problem went away. Still makes a square, tight bale tied with sisal.
There is a sweeper that pulls the knot off the bill hook. May need to be adjusted. You basically have to bang it with a hammer to close it up.
Why are tomatoes the devils fruit.
They are red and taste like h*ll
It startedreal quick and sounds good too.
It’s been a good strong tractor.
Sounds like a good plan..
“Sounds like”!
What’s the head bolt torque
I can’t remember. I sold the tractor and gave the new owner the manual
Don't hurt him
It’s coming right back. It invaded your territory and ate your food. The laws of nature now say it owns your chicken coop. Possums are the worst at squatting. One took up residence in my grandparents house. My grandfather caught it, drove it 15 miles out in the country and it was back in a few days. It will continue to come back. Seriously.
Wow...wasnt in noooo hurry to leave.
Glad you're on the mend...Merry Christmas..!
Thanks,
Noce video, its a shame betteries are so high
They are crazy and unfortunately I buy a lot of them.
Aww shucks...it was nothing....glad to help..!
Imma UA-cam cowboy, don’t know if I could do it in real life 🤠 Nice video 👍
You can do it!
“Hey in the Rain” or “Hay in the Rain”⁉️
Hey! Hay in the rain?
I know a guy that can rebuild that valve for you...on the cheap...just saying..
Definitely to watch and see what happens here 😊
Wow Interesting
on the back wall you can but an X brace from left side floor to right side ceiling, then from right side floor to left side ceiling. also do it on the front but it would block the doorway
I’m gonna tension it back and do that on the back wall for sure
I've done it too. If the tarp didn't have a peak for moisture to escape that could have contributed. They lose so much moisture when they're first cut.
ambient moisture will keep it hydrated a lil, my doors in my old house would swell in the humidity.
You are supposed to fully embed the pins.
Take your moisture meter to an outdoor lumber yard and then to an indoor one like Home Depot and take the moisture reading off stud lumber.
Good idea
Yeah if it were in a controled environment would be dried by now
It’s still air drying for now.
You can kiln dry it but if you then use it to build anything not encapsulated in a home or conditioned space the wood will absorb and release moisture based on the ambient humidity.
It’s relative to the air humidity
If you are filling a 8' truck bed I believe you will get a half cord
Probably. It wasn’t completely full. I was given this load.
You are right 1/2 cord
The ends you cheating the customer 😂 bc the way you got it stacked u not filling n all the space like you suppose to
This was wood I was given.
