So Happy to Watch your video my mother worked for Burton in Leeds. She did all the hand stiches on the jackets, infatti my mum tought me to sew by hand,i am watching your video as i Need to learn how to make Burton holes as my sewing machine does not allow me to create a very large Button holes, the young lady infact Is very neat and expert in her sewing.Thankyou for your video God Bless.👍😍👋
I've done almost the same thing by putting a new round thimble on my finger, and then squeezing it in a bench vise (while still on my finger) to make the oval. If you have access to a bench vise for this, it might be better than "tapping" it with an hammer because there is very little chance breaking the thimble, or of making the oval too flat, especially if you have your finger in the thimble when it is in the vise.
I've been dressmaking since age 11 and embroidering since before that. I HATE handsewing these fiendish things mine have always looked tatty. Now I HAVE to do some, and trawling for help I've stopped here! Thank you 😊😊
Absolutely beautiful! When I was like that’s beautiful out loud you said it at the same time near the beginning! I’m trying to learn them and this is such a good reference, thank you
Dear Sir, this beyond any doubt whatsoever, is the only handmade buttonhole video that should be allowed on UA-cam. You are the maestro of this craft. Hats off to you sir Thanks for this video
It's funny you should say that. I wear very strong glasses, for both distance and reading, Somehow I can still thread the tiniest eye in sewing needles. My sewing isn't really affected....Go figure🤔
Your totorial was great I never thought buttonholes could be sewed without a machine. It kept me from making thins that required buttons thank you so much.
One summer, I worked in a garment factory where the sewers did piecework. Their machines FLEW! I thought that all professionals sewed at lightening speed until I saw this video and a couple of haute couture videos where the sewers are extremely careful and sew at a slow, but steady pace. I am so relieved!
Love the video and want to try it out but where can I buy 1 reel of black gimp and one pack of black silk? Couldn’t fine the list of suppliers you mentioned.
I thrifted a skirt and decided to replace the buttons, but sadly the new buttons were too big for the old buttonhole. This may help me enlarge it. Thanks! PS: If any of y'all have tips please reply!!
Thanks a lot for the great video. I was just a bit confused at 11:33. The gentle man said “anti-clockwise”, I think it is still clockwise and clockwise stitches goes through the entire buttonhole, isn’t it? Thanks
Thank you for the tutorial!
Please make more videos! 🙌
For the purpose of the video a contract thread would have been great
Very nice video thank you
Very helpful video with detailed description. Thank you!!!
I need so many more videos like this...
This is a beautiful technique, cant wait to learn more from your other videos!
This was so helpful. I watch it everytime I sew a buttonhole.

Thank you both for sharing your extremely valuable skills. The sewing, camera work and narration come together quite effectively!

Mesmerizing.... Wish a day had more hours to make perfect things.....💫

These under collars use to be one of my favorite things to do.
Bravo! A very professional presentation thank you.
Wonderful and perfect skill. I wonder how long she had to practice before being so perfect...
Great Job! Beautifully done.
Wow. This looks better than machine button holes.
Great tip!

Love this. It's the best and very professionally done
so um... any chance you could use a brighter colour thread next time?
Thank you - very helpful.
It is amazing how a plain buttonhole can be an item of admiration if done so artistically. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
