Merry Christmas, Robert!
Another one where I pretend I can actually carry a tune and hope the organist plays loud enough to cover me up. Thanks!
Thanks for listening!
Thank you for this. I was just reading about taking up our crosses and following Christ to my Bible study group last night from Luke 9.
hi
😮 I have no idea you can play that!
Very nice! I don't know this one, so thanks for playing it.
Glad you like it!
Thank you Robert for the beautiful arrangements and great performance. Thank you for your great Christian education of our hymns and their history and their text.
Nice head fake on the intro. I was saying "Hey, waitaminnit..." 😊 But then, on to that beautiful hymn. And beautifully played as ever.
Thanks Bob! Have a great day! Robert
An excellent vocal and instrumental interpretation! Perfect "toning" for this song.❤
Thank you for your kind words and for listening to Hymn of the Week!
Lovely to hear !
Linda-Thanks for listening-I appreciate it!
WOW, Robert! You outdid yourself on that one! I’d ❤️to have you give lessons on how to play it like you do! Hopefully, when I move back to Wilson asap I can take some lessons!🥰🙏
Susan-Thank you for listening and have a great day!
This tune has an odd (in both the numerical sense and the "strange" sense) meter that makes it difficult for congregational singing, but it is one of my favorites from published hymnals. When I was introduced to it, the director asked us to imagine the tune as a dance and that has stuck with me. I believe voice and piano are the best way to express the moving parts in precise rhythm. Hymn: Christ, Mighty Savior Tune: Innisfree Farm Book: With One Voice, 729
Happy New Year!
Thanks Bob-Blessings to you !
I am supposed to sing this in about a week for one of the advent Sundays. Praying I will be able to as I had a bad cough for about 2 weeks. But I'm finally feeling much better. May the Lord make it so. Thank you for sharing.
I hope the singing went well for you.
God Bless! Might be my favorite Christmas hymn or at least toward the top! Though I do prefer the original lyrics: “Pleased as man with man to dwell” “Born that man no more may die Born to raise the sons of earth” Great job!
Thanks for listening!
This is also knowm as LBW 554
Very nice song. Michael W Smith and Amy Grant song.
I love this hymn. Thanks brother
You are welcome and thanks for listening!
Elvey is likely more well known for Diademata (Crown Him with Many Crowns, the Lamb Upon His Throne)
Come Thku Almighty King could be sung to My Country Tis of Thee, and My Country Tis of Thee to Come Thou Almighty King's Tune.. Both hymn tunes are Meter 664 6664. Musically 🎵 speaking, that makes these tunes interchangeable. In the Baptist version if this hymn, compared to ELW lyrics, we have Come Thou incarnate Wird, Gird on thy Mighty Sword.
Thank you for covering this hymn as your Hymn of the Week - it's my favourite!
Might I use, and credit you, the passage of this video where you sing the hymn in an online service of the United Reformed Church in the UK in September 2023? We have the requisite licences. Many thanks, Andy Braunston.
The Handel tine is Up an interval of a minor 3rd in D Major.
These are tge same lyrics in the Lutheran Book of Worship Hymn 39 in the more common Antioch Tune by George Frederick Habdel.
The way you are singing this reminds me of There Was a Farmer Had a Dog and Bingo was His name,-o. B I N G O. Each time one letter in Bingo gets dropped.
My Discjples of Christ Congregation sings this when they dismiss the children to Junior Church
Thank you. I've never heard this version of be still and know that I am God. Grateful to hear a new one!
Do you have the time HARTFORD (also known as Victory in Jesus).
LBW ,407
This is the tune of For All The Saints who from their Labors Rest.
Peter- Yes, you are correct. I think the text fits the tune well.
The LBW Refrain has the words "Christ our Lord, to you Raise, This our Sacrifice of Praise." In LBW 561.
Din you have a 32' Cintre Bimbarde?
Thank you.
Difficult timing, but you nailed it, sir!"
Have you played Good Christian Men Rejoice (INDULCI Jubilo) LBW #55.
❤
I love that hymn tune!! Wonderful lyrics. I still have the cd on Martin Luther for you. If you let me know what church you are at, I will be happy to send it to you. Blessings to you. 🙏
I'm really enjoying hearing hymns I've never heard before. Of course I am familiar with the Church's One Foundation. It amazes me how many lyrics were put to the same tune. I may incorporate listening to these as a part of my homeschooling next year. Thank you and God bless and keep you.
Thank you for that. This is the first time I've ever heard of this hymn. Very encouraging! God bless you!
Could these lyrics be sung to Easter Hymn?
This was beautiful. Thanks for sharing. God bless you!
Hi, Robert! This a a great hymn for this season. Lo have an organist friend, Jeff Parola, in LA. If you you have a chance, check out his UA-cam channel and listen to his version. He is also the cantor for that church. And, I still have a video I bought for my Lutheran friends about Martin Luther. You just b need to let me know where to send it. I can send it to c/o your church. Thanks again for HOTW! 🎼🎶
Curt-thanks for your comments. Please share with me your e-mail and I can give you an address to send the video.
God put you on earth, Brother! I didn't know this was a Civil Rights hymn. I remember singing this as a child. You are such a blessing!
Thanks for your kind words-Blessings to you!
Among my favorite hymns. Thank you so much for reviewing it!

Thank you, Brother Morehead! Your moving rendition sung in your humble and gentle voice and played so skillfully on the church organ touched my heart. To God be the glory! God bless you for reminding us of the precious promises from Holy Scripture.
Could this text be sung to Easter Hymn?
This is I was there to hear your boring cry.
This reminds me of God of Grace and God of Glory (CWM RHONDDA)
Robert, what is the hymn tune? Oh, I still have a Martin Luther video for you. Please let me know what church to send it to thanks
