This is the only book with a narrator that isnt great to women that actually frustrated me. Usually I understand the narrator is unreliable and we’re supposed to pick up on how he blames women for his problems when all the women in his life have been nothing but good and he has been the source of his problems with them. But this was too much i felt connected to him and related to him earlier in the story and then became only frustrated later on.

How old was he when he married the 17 y/o cause at first i was disgusted assuming more time had passed and he was already pretty old but he was 27 at the end so was the age gap not that bad?

Good narrators have very clear and pleasant voices that you enjoy listening to. And the rare excellent narrators can adept their reading voice to match the energy of the book like you did here. The usual narrator voice would not work at all with a book like this.
