My Deer Friend Nokotan: Crazy, but Not Crazy Enough
Переглядів 4,2 тис.4 місяці тому
My Deer Friend has taken over the internet through memes and funny clips, but is the actual show any good? Yes, if you don't compare it to other Shonen comedies. Still, My Deer Friend Nokotan does offer a few interesting ideas and a cute character dynamic that reminded me of Looney Tunes. (This is a re-upload. I was uploading the first video at 4:30 AM and I noticed a few flaws in the video, so...
The Acolyte: Bad Writing Speedrun Champion
Переглядів 4,6 тис.5 місяців тому
The Acolyte fails to grasp even the most basic storytelling techniques. In just 6 minutes, it manages to ruin the villain and the Jedi Master, making them both appear incompetent. I don't expect much from these shows, but some key moments actually baffled me. The bar was set so low and they still managed to trip over it. This is just sad. :( Anyway, let's make the most of it and examine how we ...

The writing may be shit but the songs are fire.
"I didn't read the comic." Congratulations you've invalidated this entire story review. Especially since the comics are directly cannon and effect the show's story.
So to review a Harry Potter movie, you need to have read the book series? Since when was that ever a prerequisite?
@RoamingTrend since the story of the lackadaisy pilot is a direct continuation of the story of the comic. That's why. It is writen as a sequel. And to understand the story of the sequil you need to understand the original. Also it has always been a part of movie to book media reviews. You need to compair the stories of both to see what the book and movie does well and what it does wrong. This is propor critique 101 dude. Look up the birdman.
@@RoamingTrend do you really want me to go and nit pick every little detail on why this is a bad review?
this show is like if arcane had seraphine as the protagonist instead of vi and jinx , the whole point would make a backflip
one of my favorite hazbin analysis videos! you have good ideas and articulate them well; your criticisms mirror my feelings about the show that i couldn't quite put into words.
Wow, thank you!
I’m not gonna lie, I write a bit and I was once like the creator of hazbin hotel, the thing is that, I believe that the way viziepop acts, is a good eye opening for me and ever since I’ve slowly opened up to constructive criticism Because it’s hard in that stage you know, when you become attached to a story you kinda are often blinded by your initial vision and then you need a new set of sense to really see what’s going on with the story, but for like me and many other people especially viziepop it’s more or less difficult to take criticism initially Hopefully since viziepop has the entire internet telling her on how she can improve, which is a blessing I wish I had, she can grow from it and make season 2 a great establishment for the plot and show that she’s learned and grown But it’s either a matter of time or she just doesn’t listen at all
3:00 to be fair... Its been established in the pilot not every Sinner knows about every Overlord going, likewise not every Overlord may know what the others do. So establishing their here because their all powerful overlords, actually is logical, so everyone has a quick up to speed note of who is who. Husk was an overlord and no one seems to know that. So... You don't have a point with THAT one example.
Angeldust is terribly written
L opinion
4:08 bro it’s literally the same story
thank god im not the only one who felt this way about hazbin hotel.
You’re in the minority
She told the story she wanted to tell the way she wanted to tell it. That in and of it itself is enough.
F*ck Dungeon F*ckers!
since demon "society" is based around percieved strenght ... could it be possible for a really strong mage to live in relative peace with a much weaker demon? i guess not within human society but my idea is more along the lines of - all demons kill threats to their survival + all demons kill victims who are (sometimes momentarily) weaker than themselves - so make clear to them you pose no threat (like frieren) to them but make it abundantly clear you outrank them (strenght, mana, technique ... ) - my question is why demons do not try to decieve each other or use greater numbers against stronger demons - why do they not see a threat to their survival in a stronger demon
I read the comic Twice by now and I have to say this: Read it, it answers a lot of questions you have about the characters.
meeowww
29:58 HOWARD HAMLIN!? FROM BITTER COLESLAW!???
I like both
Putting Smiling Friends in the same montage as big mouth is insane
My mom was super into realtor shows for a long time, so when I showed her this, she loved it a lot.
All the critism comes from either not knowing the original story from the comic or it's characters and treating the pilot like it's supposed to fulfill all the story needs from a whole season. While also suggesting changes that completely disrespect the original story and would require completely scrapping any semblance of familiarity with the comic's storyline. It seems that you're treating the pilot like a "episode 1". And that is not what a pilot is, or what purpose it's meant to serve. A pilot is meant to represent what a "common" episode of a series would look like, which can also include picking up the story with the assumption that many things are already stablished. This whole video was kinda upsetting to watch.
So what about pilots that do manage to effectively establish characters and have a cohesive and complete narrative within the pilot? (And when I say complete narrative, I don't mean the entire comic, just within the episode. What are we as the audience meant to get out of this beyond surface level spectacle?) Unless you are Genndy Tartakovsky, you need to do more in your pilot than show how pretty it will look. You have to prove you can tell a satisfying story within the episode. I don't know why we abandoned the importance of narrative in pilots?
hey, I’m a mediocre writer and i have a few questions to ask: would my novel be immature if i have all the things included in the 6th sin but they all have their conditions? i think it sounds confusing to you so here’s some examples: -there’s alot of brutal, serial kills in the novels, but instead of characters killing for fun, them all have excuses for themselves to kill, ex: the egocentric heretic who’ve killed billions always try to convince himself and the reader that he’s doing it because there’s no other ways, the general of the army always says that she’ll die if she disobeys the superiors, the insane person always demonizes whoever he kills to convince readers that they’re worth dying. -the gods in the novels always use excessive swears, like to sex talk and generally bunch of brats. I want it to indicate how bad the main villain (creator of all gods) at raising his children but it may seem edgy at sometimes (do note that others characters don’t swear as much as gods. In fact, the majority of them have never uttered a single bad word from the start of the novel) -there’s a sexual aspect in the novel, different types of fetish, kinks, and every characters have different preferences… but it takes up only a small portion of the novel, mainly to deliver the message of “it’s okay to have some weird kinks as long as you don’t do it at the wrong place”.
Bro u good? Ur throat sounds like it's dying in three different dimensions.
There is a reason I have a scarf xD
you're right in most parts, but I still liked the show a lot, Vivienne has crazy talent in character design, and I watched worse shows especially anime, HH is pretty great imo
You shouldn't have to put down one show to praise one you like. It's kind of lazy. Heck, even someone on the Dungeon Flippers subreddit called this "backhanded praise."
I like both shows for different reasons, that's the point of the video.
Honestly, im usually good with criticism of things i like, but im at 5:28 and this just seems like ive wasted 5 mins, all the points so far are either nitpicky or completely pointless if youve read the comics, which he hasn't, so if its more of this i see no point in continuing watching
So the Lord of the Rings is only good if you read the book? When did we start to accept external resources when judging media? She-Hulk TV show is good if you read the comics. Not exactly how it works. We don't judge a student's quiz based on their essay
@RoamingTrend no, because Lord of the Rings is a film adaptation, the only changes are to make it more suitable for screen, and all super hero media has so many different iterations that as long as you keep the main features of the important characters you can basically write what you want, the Lackadaisy pilot wasn't originally supposed to be a pilot, it was made for the fans but got so much support they decided it was a pilot instead, so mush of the charm is lost without the context of the comics
what you mentioned in sin 2 is my biggest fear so far alastor seems to be the most well written character due to his mystery but it seems like agenuine possibility that the writers themself dont know what that mystery is supposed to end on
I like the writing,i think its completely alright
"This face was made for radio" Did they just write a line that was supposed to make him edgy, hot and cool but then he ended up calling himself ugly?
I don’t see Rocky from the pilot and from the trailer as different characters personally, I see it as seeing him with a whole other side to him. But that’s just my opinion.
I’m sorry, but I cannot agree that has the writing of modern Disney😂😂😂😂😂 Sorry pal, but I really can’t agree with you on that one. If you’d read enough of the comic the characters actions would make a lot more sense in this pilots, it will make more sense as future episodes come out, you’ve got to be patient in order for the story to fully come out and find out everything.
Can't argue with that plot summary! I wonder if we could get some plot doctoring to other webcomics like Etherwood or Unfamiliar
How to say you hate furries without saying you hate furries.
Aura had tears in her eyes - not because of regret or being scared or whatever, she realised her end came near, her plans were going to trash bin, and most importantly she was beaten at her own game.
Hell is apparently overpopulated and that's part of the reason why the extermination exists (and also because the exorcists just find it fun? heaven being corrupt i guess, idk) but what about Heaven? Do they just got infinite storage up there? Why does Hell have an overpopulation issue to the point where Heaven apparently needs to thin them out every new year but Heaven doesn't? Do they kill the Winners too when they get too full every year, are Winners immortal like the Sinners are and can only be killed by angelic weapons...? I can probably come up with various problems with the worldbuilding in this show but imma just leave this plothole here for everyone to ponder about.
I watched it a while ago and can’t be bothered to go back and check, but I’m pretty sure it was said or implied that Heaven hasn’t actually gotten anyone new in a long time? Like everyone is just automatically going to hell? Or am I misremembering? Tbf, if it’s true, it raises its own set of world building problems (did seriously nobody notice not-bad people ending up in hell? What about humans who ended up in heaven, didn’t they notice nobody new was showing up? How long has this been going on? Why isn’t Charlie more concerned about this than redeeming sinners?)
1st. It's way more common for people to end up in hell rather than heaven. 2nd. The overpopulation reasoning is not about necessity, it's about to control, hell is "overpopulated" to a point their power increases, and that was an threat to heaven's authority.
I don't think that shade tossed at other Frieren fans was necessary, and I disagree with your critique on the flashback format and mimic joke, but otherwise I agree with your video. Really, the bulk of the season doesn't have the mimic joke. It's mentioned in passing in the first episode and then it happens a couple times during the second test, and that's it. Also, I see the comparison between Frieren's current journey and her previous one as fundamental to the story as well. It's part of the point for her to make those kinds of connections. I know the Costco thing was a joke, but comparisons between market shopping now vs then is totally a real thing, or if not that specifically then something similar. There's nothing wrong with having an episode template, especially with a show like this, which is largely episodic anyway. Also, don't you think its kinda unfair to praise the commonality between Frieren and Fern and then turn around and say it's a bad thing? Okay, enough of the disagreements. Now for the good stuff. I super appreciate the visual storytelling critique. I just watched the Frieren vs Frieren bout, and I recalled what you mentioned. I might have missed that otherwise. Also, because of your video, I noticed this in other shows, like 86. This one scene in episode 3, for instance, I got so much more out of that because I recalled the thing about the visual storytelling. And the point about magic, too. There's a trope, Tell Me How You Fight, and I Will Tell You What You Are. Lawine and Kanna is upfront about its meaning, I didn't notice Fern's magic or her staff. Finally, yeah, thematic monsters that serve more purpose than a punching bag are always appreciated.
I read Zoophobia before she dropped it. She hasn't changed her writing at all in over a decade, regardless of the fact she's been famous since the Die Young AMV. Expecting her to improve is foolish. Everyone talks about her getting better and figuring out what she's doing, but she has no incentive to. Look at how many diehard fans the schlock she makes has. Why would she mature at all? Why would she hone her craft at all? It hasn't happened since what, 2011? Why would it ever happen?
6:04 she’s like 18 and in college lmao
The thing with Charlie is that she thinks she has everything figured out and she thinks she knows what's best for everyone but she doesn't know shht. Just take her conversation with Adam in the first episode, one of her argument is "it must take you a while to travel all the way to hell, so we're really saving you the trouble of coming here". Not only it's really poor, but it's based on nothing. Charlie doesn't seem to talk to anyone or get informed about anything, ever. Her entire plan of sinners being nice enough to be transferred to heaven is based on absolutely nothing. It never happened before - it's not like it happens occasionally and she would try to encourage a mass transfer from hell to heaven. She literally doesn't know. She didn't just came up with a theory and trying to get at least one single soul up there to prove her point first. She lives in her own fantasy land where she's a princess singing disney songs every day. No wonder Lucifer is all "uhhh yeah your hotel hmm yeaahhh...." because he's trying really hard not to tell her it sucks and it's never gonna work.
There's official art of Rocky as Joker so you didn't really have to use AI picture for that joke
As a big fiction reader/watcher who nonetheless enjoy HazbinHotel without thinking too deeply just to have fun Im impressive by your analyses and criticism. Its very valid not in just HazbinHotel but general media nowadays. The pride part being Espically notable as they refuse criticism and written them off and dont change. Well made video. Dont know if you watch RWBY but its also in a similar boat but without the good points of Hazbin hotel
Hazbin Hotel has a lot of style but no substance. Dungeon Flippers has a lot of substance but no style.
Look i don't want to argue but you got SO many things wrong here, if you didn’t read the WHOLE comic it's clear you don't Undearstand what's happening here and why the story is like that & not how you would think it is. Also the Character's are not trying to be edgy, i feel like people just can't stand a Character just having a differently personality. I also would like to say more but i aint writing all that💔 EDIT: yea but not to be a hater I actually agree a little on Freckle beeing the Main Character, it sounds interesting
5:01 also that's clear sarcasm like come on.
13:33 people when a different Character:
Ngl I feel like this guy be hating every chance he gets 🙁🙏
I mean you gotta give it a little bit of a breakits only episode one
