How To Make Country Italian Bread At Home
I have to do this on my 87 Iroc someday
Do not listen to this guy 290s have fill plugs. drain it, put the plug in with a new o-ring, tilt it all the way up, take out the fill plug and fill it with the right amount, replace plug with new oring, put it back down and check the dip stick
Good stuff, I just acquired an 87 fire bird
That oil seemed to come out pretty fast when you switched from pump to plug; did you close the vent/dipstick?
Fram oil filter? OUCH
Music way too loud, don’t need it
I would just sell the boat and get a different job so I could buy a new boat every 3 years. Chics Luv me
Pretty color, but not fond of skulls. They are too over used in the bike culture these days and it getting sickening. Why don't people do something original instead of flames and skulls. Want custom? Then do custom, no a copy of the same old thing.
You have a beautiful paint job. They do great work, good luck with it.
Great vid ! Tip : i like to flush iT before filling iT with new oil.
awesome model train video
your video skills could use some improvement. First off, use landscape (horizontal) mode instead of vertical. Second, stop moving and shaking your camera so quickly. It causes the viewer to have a headache. Third, hold the camera further away from whatever your filming unless you need to zoom into something. Fourth, use a tripod mount as often as you can. And finally, get rid of that music. Otherwise it's an excellent video.
so it's a 1300 vtx with lights and a custom paint job. Not exactly a custom 1300 vtx.
I buy the gear oil in 5gal buckets and per-measure for the correct amount into gallon jugs. I then use a turkey baster to fill from the top. After I get most of the oil in I let it settle for a few hours, measure with the dip stick and generally after 2 or 3 trys it is topped off. I've found an electric impact hammer to be fantastic in getting frozen drain plugs lose.
Great video, I am on the Big Island of Hawaii and I can not find an oil pump..where did you find yours?
My goodness the camera shaking made me dizzy and hard to concentrate or see what you were actually doing at times!!!
Would it possible to re-load this without the music? This is a information video, not an entertainment video. The music distracts from the content.
I hate rookies that talk like they know what they're doing! SOOO many mistakes. No disrespect just being honest.

How long has it been since the repair, and it still holding.
Do you have a video on removing the duo props and changing the zinc?
looks lovely gotta love those strips
It is wrong not have a pump to fill oil There is a screw the top right open the oil Hmmdid open to let in air And oil enters the scene
You don't know how to cook, dude. A roux is oil and fat. You make a roux with butter and flour, and then add the milk.
manual says to fill behind back cover. tilt drive up and add 2 u.s quarts.
I Used jb weld on my 4.3 mercruiser manifolds and it has worked great so far... runs below 150 degrees in the St Lawrence river so it is a good fix for me.
Hahah! Can I use use this in a video?
No way... it is not a Mercruiser! Volvo has an oil screw behind the gearbox
Your son likes this video. He watches it with me.
Sorry for the other comment. But when you made love to me I thought you said it was forever and you didn't tell her about us?
What a p.o.s. like the owner. So this is who you were seeing the whole time you were with me? You left me for that? What a loser! Alin told me I should have not let you take all of me at work.
The reason you fill from the bottom up is that you fill every part up with oil. If you fill from the top some of the oil dosent fill some spots because of air bubbles and you get a false reading on the dip stick. Then you wind up with not enough oil in the unit. Always fill from the bottom like he did in the video but when your on your last quart go slow to make sure bubbles have a chance to disipate and check with dipstick. It is alright to top off from the stick at this time.
Looks like your oil hasn't been changed for 20 years by the color of it!! Recommended oil for 290dp is 80w90 btw! Volvo is the only manufacturer to recommend using engine oil in the out drive because of convenience but then finally realized that gear oil was a better product, especially in sx drives which have more stress on critical parts. Never fill drive with oil through dipstick plug! Use the filling plug behind cover otherwise you will overfill causing oil to blow past uj seal and into bellows thinning grease on uj leading to much expense! Simples!
Great initiative. Might I ask why you didn't fill the new oil through the hole intended for that? There's a plug under the "hood". Just remove the hood, two screws, and you find a plug that you remove, and fill the new oil through that hole. No pump is necessary.
Yes check the drive diagram. www.marinepartseurope.com/en/volvo-penta-explodedview-7744030-44-18080.aspx Don't feel silly I also had a blister from pumping until i found the hollow screw. So you open the dipstick and the oil just runs down freely. I have DP280.
did you read the manual for the right oil for this outdrive ? because mine says 10w30 or 20w40, which is much thiner in the viscosity than the oil you are using. I am really shocked with the oil you are using.however, mine is a 270 volvo penta.
In my Drives EP 90 works best!
good on you mate
I am sorry for the stupid question, but english is not my first language and i am not sure if \i understood what you said properly.. did you say ~ this drain plug was seized to the hole, which apparently happens a lot ? if you said it so, I am wondering how you took the torq of it before using your screwdrive on it. mine is pretty tight and the bolt is worn.. so I am worried about using a screwdrive and hammer to loose it. hope you could help me somehow.
Where did you buy the AMS Marine Oil at? Nice video by the way.
Is this repair still holding?
Very nice job! Do you know what horsepower the 396 is putting out? I like the classic hubs too! Very nice.
Hey anothony how did you line up the hood, doors, and trunk to get the gaps right?
thanks for the vid, overlapping music was draining your voice out though, my 275 outboard says to use 10w-30 motor oil
I have a 4.3 V-6 I/O in my ski boat. Power steering was out. Saw the video and did this once turning the wheel about 40-45 times. It helped, but still about halfway to what it should be. Should I just do it again and see what happens or any suggestions? Thanks for the assistance.
What type Of oil do yo recomend for This boat?
V/P dealer stated that the old school SP drives used the same 10/40 as the engine because the quality of the drive unit was superior and didn't require heavy gear lube. However, he recommended using 80/90 conventional in anything over 15 years old that had not been rebuilt yet. He hasn't steered me wrong yet...
your a good dude gary with an informative video. Thanks!
Thank you great info
