Hello! I make music content for a large brass ensemble, modelled on a British brass band. I try to arrange a large range of styles, and here's where it all comes together. Join me as I work out how on earth music, social media and editing work!

Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral
Back with proper content!
After a busy summer & lots of summer concert videos, I have a new arrangement! This is one of my all-time favourite pieces of music, written by Richard Wagner for the opera Lohengrin. While it is less popular than the Bridal Chorus (Here Comes the Bride) & Prelude (both from Act 3), this is by far the better piece, building up slowly but surely to a fantastic, rich ending. I chose to add the reprise from Scene 5 as it was a better ending than the chord that leads into Ortrud's angry monologue. This ending was also inspired by the amazing Brass Band arrangement by Howard Snell which introduced me to this piece. I have had the pleasure of hearing the Cory Band playing this piece at St. David's Hall, Cardiff, and as usual Cory knocked it out of the park!
This also marks the move to the MacBook ready for university. With this comes a new DAW, Logic. This was a little bit of a trial by fire, but I have certainly managed to get to grips with the software. I am also grateful for the amazing quality of the included sounds, including the Organ, which is used here.
For the "Choirs", I chose to use the softer tones of the flugelhorn and trombones. This was partly inspired by a piece I recently played in the National Youth Brass Band of Wales, Philip Harper's arrangement of Lullaby (Goodnight my Angel) by Billy Joel.

As part of life in my last year of school, I have been running a brass ensemble, reheasing and developing practice and leadership skills while in a safe environment. This was our opener I chose this piece as I wanted a contast to the other items in the school concert. Typically selections includes films, musicals, and the odd pop song. Obviously a march is very different! This was the most suit...

As part of life in my last year of school, I have been running a brass ensemble, reheasing and developing practice and leadership skills while in a safe environment. I chose this piece because I wanted something a bit lighter than the other pieces, and something that didn't need much work. I had this lying around from a "Resedential Course" hosted by Cory Band during Covid, and thought it was p...

As part of life in my last year of school, I have been running a brass ensemble, reheasing and developing practice and leadership skills while in a safe environment. I chose this piece as I wanted a real crowd pleaser that was fun to both play and listen to. It also holds a lot of good memories of Youth Band and the people there. Arranged by Alan Fernie for 8-part Brass, it holds true to Cather...

Welcome back! MacArthur Park can be found in Los Angeles, and is also the namesake for a brilliant piece of music. Made most famous by Alan Catherall's arrangement for the Greimthorpe Colliery Band, it is incredibly reflective & uplifting piece. This arrangement by Alan Fernie is such a good version for Junior Band!I have been dreaming of recording this one for a long, long time, so the whole e...

Hello everyone! I've been meaning to upload this for ages, but I've only just got around to it. In September, I started a brass ensemble in school, bringing together all the brass players into 1 space. As part of this, I arranged and rehearsed each piece over the term, culminating in this performance during our Christmas concert. It was a lot of fun! This was the first piece in our set, bringin...

Here's an original composition of mine from 2023, written as part of a workshop series by music charity Arts Active. I have chosen to share it as it is one of my most recent and technically challenging compositions. The music is inspired by the music of the concert openers from the brass world (specifically Paul Lovatt-Cooper and the Salvation Army).

Here's an original composition of mine from 2021, written as part of a workshop series by music charity Arts Active. I have chosen to share it as it is one of my most emotional and impactful pieces. The music is based on Wilfred Owen's poem of the same title, first published in 1920. A local poet to me, the work recounts the horrors of the trenches of the First World War, in a way that is very ...

I'm sure it's no secret that I love sci-fi from early posts on this channel (such classics as 'Aviation' & 'UFO'), so here we are, back again 3 years later! This is my take on the Doctor Who Theme to celebrate 2023 being the show's 60th anniversary. This year has been such as treat for Whovians, so I wanted to give a little back by creating this. It was such a lot of fun to get into the 'Jazz C...

Let's step back in time to 1956, where everything was a lot more jazz! The era of such greats as Louis Armstrong, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, who all collide in the film 'High Society', a musical adaptation of 'The Philadelphia Story'. This song was added to give Crosby and Sinatra a chance to sing together, and was repurposed from an older musical (DuBarry Was a Lady, also written by High Soci...
