It's the Memphis in folks that have people in that mindset. Taylor is a good coach who wins and his team competes every night but he's not Pat Riley. Taylor wasn't a sexy hire and people wanted a sexy hire but he was a great hire

I like your content except. Edey, particularly before the latest injuries, but even after, has per minute stats just below elite level. He doesn't control his PT. I also don't agree that HC doesn't want him. I couldn't figure out why you want to create such a negative storyline until I looked up your opinions on the draft. Then it became clear. You're the type that is going to stick to your narrative and change reality if you need to to avoid any responsibility if you're wrong. "Grizz play with the fastest pace ever..." and "Edey 'seems' to be keeping up..." and "NBA takes time to adjust to..." just can't be true is he's such a bad pick. You're the people who start narratives that change players career path, usually to the detriment of the team, not the player. Jenkins wants to play with a frantic pace. That may take a little longer for a guy who's only played 6 years of basketball in his life and ALL of that as a slow paced post up. But Edey was never "just tall", he's a freakishly athletic for his size and a determined, tireless worker and student of the game with no ego. I guarantee his lack of PT bothers me WAY more than it bothers him, because he wants to do whatever the coaches want him to do to help the team win. Because you want to ignore the fact that Edeys been one of the top 5 ROY candidates all year, you create a narrative that he can't help the team and (obviously) should be traded as soon as possible. My prediction if your wish came true is that you'd also be "that" fan whining years later "why couldn't he have played like that for us?". Because you'll never admit that you never wanted to really give him a chance in the first place. Because if he succeeds, you might look bad. I actually trust that this coach and team know what they're doing. They're a mid major market team that has had possibly the best drafting record. They have built the deepest, most productive bench in the league, with strength at each position, and the ability to play multiple styles, both offensively and defensively. Damn, they have TWO top 5 ROY candidates in the same year. With GG and Vince incoming their only problem is figuring out PT and productive lineups. Don't throw Edey, or anyone else on the team for that matter, under the bus if the team decides to not play them for more than half the game. Do an honest evaluation of production PER MINUTE and +/-. Then be honest about the intangibles. I think this team is positioned just fine, despite the fact that I would definitely find more PT for Edey. But I'm smart enough to know I'm not the coach, and trust the process moving forward. I love this team and think if we can be mostly healthy for the second half and particularly into the play offs, VERY special things can happen. Be nice to all be rowing in the same direction though.

I wouldn't get too caught up on the NET ranking Kenny. I think I heard TJ mention it as well. Even though we can't see the formula, NET ranking is pretty much just an efficiency stat (offensive efficiency - defensive efficiency) similar to Kenpom just with certain things weighted a little different. Compare the NET rankings with Kenpom and you can see how those two have similar rankings. Houston is #3 because they lose close and whoop a lot teams in wins which gives them good offensive and defensive efficiencies. Like tonight they beat Utah 70-36. The quad records mainly help the committee to determine seeding. That along with other metrics they use is how we can be upper 40s in NET, but still be projected at a 5-6 seed right now. For example Memphis was at #2 in KPI for awhile then dropped to #4 after the Temple loss. Then we moved back to #3. I've said elsewhere, but Memphis' schedule is the inverse of the P4 (P5 including the Big East). P5 schools get their blow outs in OOC games and get their Q1 and Q2 wins in conference. Memphis has to get Q1 and Q2 wins OOC and then hopefully get blow outs in conference. I'm that nerd you guys are talking about. I've just done a good job of not purchasing Kenpom...so far. lol
